One main factor that can affect the length of your individual turn around time is how fast your interviewers get in your interview feedback evaluation. Think about it - you had 3 interviews. The MD's are super busy people, the med students are, well, med students ... we have other things going on, and the admissions people, well they are probably on top of their crap so blame the MD's and med students. I personally don't do interviews because I would take too long to get the feedback in. But I know people who can sit on a feedback for 1-2 weeks when the turnaround time is supposed to be 2 days. Now, I know that can be frustrating to hear, but, in the end it does get done. That can account for some of the variability between different applicants.

Hey there. Didn't want to out myself to the adcom since it seems like they read this thread but since people are getting antsy I just wanted to let you know that I was accepted recently. Pritzker is amazing and amazingly generous! I'm so excited!!!

Congratulations! I just got a call today and I'm so pumped! They were really nice and I loved the school. 🙂

i was put on hold in august and was just invited for an interview for january so all the on hold applicants, keep your heads up!! it is definitely still possible!

WOW! Congrats. This gives me hope. Although, cautious hope.

Did anyone else get an awesome U Chicago scrubs shirt in the mail??

Oh, my, god.

I GOT AN INTERVIEW OFF THE HOLD LIST!! 😍

Wow. Best Christmas surprise ever. I'll be scouring the forum for interview info. Anyone know offhand where to stay overnight??

I know we're not hearing anything about pre-interview holds before January... but I just wanted to say that I'll give you a Christmas gift Pritzker if you give me one 🙂

It seems like you got what you wanted for Christmas 😛...

Looks like I'll have to uphold my end of the bargain now! lol

Congrats Bender! Yay for med school xmas presents. Looks like they're getting to list (and I haven't gotten any notification yet) so I'm starting to accept it may just not happen. Oh well, can't win them all. Really loved the idea of Pritzker. Anyway, good luck!

Haha, congrats to those with interviews and who got in!

For those of you who got in ... you get the matching scrub pants when you show up to orientation ... i know i know ... that just made you set on coming to Pritzker ... it was the deciding factor for me as well!

has anyone heard anything post-continued?? I remember from the Podcats, that the continued peeps really start moving after Pritzker is done interviewing, just curious tho...

from my experience/past history ... the waitlist gets made April/Mayishness (that is post-continued). If you've shown interest in Pritzker making it to the waitlist shouldn't be too hard.

The waitlist starts moving pretty rapidly at the end of May/beginning to middle of June with people getting in off the waitlist up until very close to school beginning

thanks for the info!

I was wondering more specifically if anyone had, thusfar, gotten the continued status and then been accepted (or rejected...although i dont think people can be rejected from continued).

thanks so much! i graduated prior to applying to med school. the only thing i did was update my application with a publication for uchicago before getting the invite.

This was a really awesome surprise. I loved the scrubs!

I have also already graduated. I updated them on my activities and employment. Nothing special in terms of updates. I did have something special I turned in, but that might give away my anonymity. PM me for details.

For the other people who were accepted, what did you put for the "acceptance response form"? option 1: accept or option 2: undecided? I definitely won't decide until I have all my possibilities. It seems a bit early to say "accept" but the "accept" doesn't seem to be binding. Meh. What did you guys put?

Option two if you aren't 100% I think. I put that and I still got a Christmas present from them! 🙂

Merry Christmas, Pritzker! This is my thank you for the best Christmas present ever! (taking me off the hold list!) Best of luck and Merry Christmas to everyone hoping!

Hey bbender,
Congrats on getting off the hold. I would suggest that you stay with a student host during your stay. Congrats again1

Thanks, ballin! I put in my student host request as soon as I got the invite. I hope someone wants to host me! Can't wait 🙂

I was confused about the choices too, but I chose #1. I like Pritzker a lot but of course I'm not completely set on attending. I can't see admissions expecting no one who's chosen #1 to change his mind.

sure hope that all the interviews weren't given from the hold list yet! my status isn't a rejection yet so I guess I'll just keep waiting and hoping...

+1

Maybe I wasn't vehement enough about my interest in Pritzker in my update letter.

I have one on the 7th. When's yours??

The 7th 🙂. Im bet i'm going to freeze lol. Not used to that Chicago cold. But I'm soooooo grateful just to have the opportunity to interview there. As I can see, you are too! What a great Christmas present!

Sweeeet! Let's meet up there. I live near Chi-town but on the opposite end so I'll be with a host. Oh, and everything you hear about the weather is true, lol. Man, I really love Pritzker :xf:

I didn't realize you lived in the Chicago area. I have family in Park Ridge. 😎

Good luck! 👍

Does anyone know if receiving merit-based aid here disqualifies you from receiving need-based?

Thanks!

+1. Almost expect rejection. I think we're guaranteed a response by January 5th though. So not too much longer in limbo.

+1. It ain't over til it's over but...Pritzker, even if you deny me this opportunity, I have nothing but love for you!

AH almost jan 5th, hoping for some status updates tomorrow! The way I figure... if all the interviews had been given out from the hold list already, they would have sent us the rejection e-mail. There's still gotta be a shot!

did they specifically say they'd be done with interview invites on jan 5th?

Yeah, thinking more likely tomorrow than today. I assume the process works at Pritzker that our apps are handed off to single committee/faculty members individually. Once they have time to review them, they send their comments/decision back to the admissions office to notify the applicant. Thus, some people got interview invites before the holiday because their reviewers were quick. Others didn't, because their reviewers hadn't finished. Let's hope they got to us over the holidays so we can hear back. Pritzker is very punctual and doesn't seem to mess around to much, so I assume if a rejection decision had already been made it would have been immediately communicated.

Good luck. Crossing my fingers too (although....realizing that I'm flat broke on med school money and don't know how I'll pay for this if I do get it 🙂 )

In their hold email, it said "You will be notified by January 5th if you are to be invited for interviews."So it might be that only ppl who get an invite off the hold list will hear by Jan 5th. If we don't hear back by the end of tomorrow, bye bye Chicago!

Interview invite today off the hold list! No e-mail, I checked my status page this morning and found out the great news!

thanks for the heads up, usaf! i checked my status page, and i got an interview, too! And whew, only yesterday did I hear that they really did get my update letter/new LOR. yay!

Congrats as well! I'm just about ready to let this one go. Expecting my rejection later this afternoon.

Interview Invite today off the hold list! I'm so surprised, I was definitely expecting a rejection.
