if you feel like calling, you can always call and ask Joni/David/Sylvia what more you could do to express your interest or just to say I just quickly wanted to let you know that Pritzker is still where I want to be.

also on another notes, I get a couple of PM's every day ... if you have a question you don't feel comfortable posting on here feel free to PM me ... I usually get back pretty quickly.

Fact: I ordered food and the deliveryman called my phone to tell me to come down and pick it up. Unfortunately for me, he used his personal cell which has a Chicago area code. I saw the magic area code when my cell rang and..

I now know what it's like to survive a heart attack.

Same incident this morning and it wa actually someone who dialed the wrong number!!! 😡

This happens to me ALL the time because i have a cell phone with a Chicago area code and I always think that it is Pritzker! I keep hope alive 🙂
 
That happened to me countless times to the point where I didn't even get excited when I saw 773 on what actually was my call from the admissions office. Then I heard a voice that I recognized on the end and actually dropped the phone. Having to explain that to David was one of the best awkward moments of my life, haha.

Richmond looks sick. Bruce needs to have a better year coaching though, or Richardson and Paul will continue to be freshmen even though they are sophomores. McCamey should stay and I say if the team does well is a legitimate Big Ten POtY (and somewhere in the top 10 or 15 nationally). And no, I didn't rush. I almost did, as I'm admittedly a pretty "fratty" person, ha, but it just wasn't for me.

Last year orientation fell on Lolla weekend. I still went to Sunday though (no events that day), which was the most important day because the Killers were closing out the weekend and it was one of the most incredible shows I've ever seen. When You Were Young at 10 pm at night with the skyline... gives me chills thinking about it.
 
By the way, see The Dodos. One of the best bands no one has heard of.

Agreed on all of the above. My biggest beef, which will never change under Weber, is that we need to go zone. How did we come back from 23 down against Clemson? Switching to zone in the second half.

I didn't rush either, just hung out my friends who most happened to rush. Not much for me , either.

Paul is either going to be sick or turn it over 20 times a game.

Anyways... hope I get to bring some Orange and Blue to Pritzker!
 
I was wondering if any of the Pritzker students could comment on the social life. Are there a lot of bars/clubs in Hyde Park? What do students typically do during post-test? Thanks!!
 
I'm like 70% sure I'm going to Pritzker and I told this guy from my undergrad's med school and he said that he had heard Pritzker had very competitive students. Any comments from pritzker students? I dont buy it, why would students be competitive in a pass fail no rank system?

Could be confused with its undergrads who are more notoriously competitive. UChicago has placed such an emphasis on fit and collaboration that I would be shocked if I got that vibe if I got in and matriculated.

I received my financial aid package via email, but it was also mailed to my permanent address.
 
Half way through the week where 2 SDNers got off the CL. Not counting on anything at all, just anxious for June 🙄 lol
 
has anybody been able to get a response when they send an email to Joni? I sent a letter about two weeks ago and haven't gotten a response. Does this mean that I might be rejected? I was a continued applicant...are they sending rejections? sorry, if i am overreacting just getting kind of worried.

UChicago is prob one of the most chill med schools .... EVER. Not only is it pass/fail ... but it's actually pass now/pass later. If you do not pass a test, you talk to the professor, then retake it, pass and move on with your life. We have a database where we upload our notes ... and it's accesible for all our classmates and all future generations.

I know many schools are p/f but honestly pritzker is one of the most collaborative places on the earth. everyone helps everyone. we are like a family.

The undergrads here are crazy ... we like to make fun of them ... their motto is "where fun comes to die" and "where the only thing that goes down on you is your GPA" .... they actually have t-shirts with those quotes ... our t-shirts say "where fun is ressusitated" ... it's a completely different culture ... and I shouldn't bag too much on the undergrads. UChicago usually ranks in the top 5 or top 10 schools worldwide for undergrad ... they just have a really, really rigorous ciriculum filled with core classes in the classics, philosophy etc. but yes ... they are ... different haha

the graduate schools at UChicago are def chiller than the undergrads and a very very relaxing environment. The med/law/buisness/grad students have social events together and we date amongst each other .... and we outnumber the undergrads 3:1 ....


In terms of what do we do for socialness in hyde park ... there are a few pubs on campus and right off campus that we'll go to after class or for a late night meet up ... Hyde park also has many different restaurants ... we all usually head downtown about twice a week (even in 2nd and 3rd year - you still have time to have a life!!) ... downtown is only a 5 minute drive and UChicago owns a parking lot right downtown ... a lot of us also taxi if we think we might not want to be driving back haha ... Chicago has tons of stuff to do ... sports/music/food/culture/lake/outdoors stuff etc. You will NEVER sit at home in Hyde Park and think "gee I don't have anything to do" Chicago is beyond amazing

Joni is on maternity leave and therefore she won't be in contact with anyone probably for the remainder of the application season. If you need to send an update, send it to another member on the committee like Sylvia Robertson. Don't worry you aren't rejected!

But in all seriousness, when's a good time to send my next letter, and is it ok if this letter is mostly just "I'm still interested, here again are my reasons why I'm a good fit for Pritzker and why Pritzker is a good fit for me." But of course, more eloquently stated.
 
BBender. I really hope you get in. We were deferred buddies all the way back in January, and you genuinely want Pritzker bad. They rejected me, but I still love them.

I'm withdrawing from Pritzker. I really hope one of you gets my spot, and my $ as well! 👍

just for clarification....the waitlist is made AFTER May 15th, correct? and does anyone know typically if there is any movement on the list?

:laugh: Yeah, I'm glad they understood the emotion involved in this process... I think every school gets negative reactions when students find out they either didn't get in or didn't get a scholarship when they were expecting one, etc. It happens every year.

By the way, I'm one of the admins of the UChicago Accepted Students group on Facebook, and if any of you want to take my spot, shoot me a PM. All you have to do is click confirm when peope request to join the group, it's not too tough of a job. 😉

I received my wait list notification last year ON May 15th (by mail), meaning it was probably sent a day or two before.
 
Does anyone know what the options are for revisiting AFTER revisit weekend (since I'm assuming I won't hear anything before revisit at this point)? Just curious!

You can definitely set up a hotel reservation or ask the admissions office to see if a student will host you for a night. Then you can come to classes, and we will set up a student lunch with you with first-year classmates most likely. This would have to be done before early June though, since that is when classes are over.

You won't get the coolness of Revisit Weekend, but you still get to talk with everyone, meet with admissions people briefly if you want, etc etc

Oh ok. Of course I'd be excited to get in at anytime, but I've gone on a second look already and the best part of it was getting to meet potential classmates! Sad that the late acceptanceers would miss all the fun 😀
