I received a tiny scholarship and lots of loans. Yes for being in debt! But I'm not complaining, Gainesville is a great place and I love UF! Go gators~

I received a small scholarship plus a tuition award. Did anyone else receive the tuition award?

the tuition award is renewable- according to financial aid they are essentially the same thing

I just withdrew from UF COM. Hopefully one of you gets my spot along with my generous scholarship! 🙂

Im applying for the 2010-2011 cycle. Would any matriculants/ applicants mind posting their MCAT and gpas??

Because im applying to every florida school....

Just so you know...having people give you GPAs/MCATs for every florida school won't help you much. If you want that info, you can pick up an MSAR and it will give you the average numbers. MDapps will also give you that information. But ultimately the numbers tell you very little, since there are all those other qualitative factors. If you are a FL resident, I'd say apply to every FL school. The secondaries are relatively cheap.

No waitlist movement yet here? Be sure to post if you get accepted, I can't wait for things to start moving!

For those of you who got scholarships or other awards...when did you get accepted? I was accepted in late March and I'm guessing that all the awards have been given to people accepted before then...

Got the call this morning 😉 Very excited! Good luck to those still waiting.

I got the call today too!! So excited but I just signed a lease in Tally for FSU.....Im so confused! Any thoughts???

You should definitely call the leasing agency and see if you are able to break the lease. If you can't, the decision may have been made for you.

Congratulations!!!!! Nice to finally see some waitlist movement!

I agree, you should call the office and see what you can do. If not, you can try to get an accepted FSU med student to try to take over ur lease or you can see if u can sublease it and maybe pay for a small portion of the rent as an incentive. But if there isn't anything that can be done, don't let that make the decision for you. Go to whatever medical school you think is a better fit for you, regardless.

Hey you should join the FSU COM 2014 facebook group and post a link to your apt, and sublease to a future FSU COM student or post a link on the FSU forum, I think people are looking for housing in those places. Where is your apt? Is it near the COM?

To all those accepted from the WL...did you regularly send e-mails to continue to express your interest, or did u just kind of wait it out? Thanks!

I had not sent anything since March when I sent a LOI.

I sent a LOI about a week after my interview in January, and I asked a professor to write me another letter of recommendation about a month ago. It was a hell of a letter, and I wouldn't be surprised if it put me over the top.

I didn't write a LOI, but I got another really great recommmendation letter in a few weeks ago. Hopefully that will put me over the top too!

ucf sent me an update saying they had accepted 35 people off the waitlist so far which is more than half their class. Do you think UF has accepted that much of their class off the waitlist already? You guys think their will be another big batch of acceptances before the long summer months?

Who knows. Maybe the people UCF accepted were already in at UF and withdrew because of the tuition benefits.

I got accepted 10/29/2009, but didnt get my packet until the first week of may.

Do we have a UF COM 2014 facebook group yet?! I've been looking for one but haven't found it, and I wasn't sure if it was my place to make one or w/e.

And btw...accepted on 10/16 but got my aid letter in early May. Yay financial aid!

Has there been any movement lately? I am starting to wonder how many spots will open up in the next few weeks (if any)....thanks!

Hey, I was accepted May 17th and I just received my letter. I have until the 21st of June to submit my deposit and acceptance letter. So maybe there will be movement around that time? Not sure if everyone accepted after the 15th has until June to notify UF. Anyways, best of luck to you 😉

This is probably the best news i've gotten on the waitlist front. Lets all keep our fingers crossed!

Has anyone starting to look for a place to live? Any suggestions for a good apt or condo? Also, are people thinking about buying or renting?

I'm living at an apartment that's within walking distance of the hospital/school. It's called Wildflower and although it's pricey, the convenience and fact that it's only professionals or graduate students living there make it attractive for me. Combined with the fact that it has a really nice gym and is safe, and it was just a no-brainer. There were other apartment listings posted elsewhere in this thread (around page 7 or 8 if I'm not mistaken?) that could help you if you're looking for an apartment in a certain area or price range.

I'm looking at Oakbrook Walk, Oakbrook and Somerset Village right now. debating whether to buy or rent. Any suggestions?

When any of the accepted to students sign onto ISIS (my.ufl.edu) and look at your financial aid award for 2010-2011.....do you see anything there? Mine says that I have no awards for that year???? I already receieved my financial aid package letter from UF COM office but was just concerned since the two didn't match up. (I'm going to call them on Monday but wanted to see if this was the case for everyone else in the meantime)

Thanks!

Also, has anyone gotten any packages besides the initial acceptance package and the financial aid paper?

I called today, and Eileen Paris told me the financial aid hasn't been awarded yet so there's nothing to worry about.

Nothing here. I am in the process of sending copies of all my transcripts and getting my shot records together, so hopefully that'll be one less thing to worry about.

Going to look at a couple places to live and meet a potential roommate this Friday. I will let you guys know what I find as I want to get some med students in the apts next door to me 😀

I heard that UF is going to pass/fail for the first two years starting with our class 😉

That is what my gf said. She is going to be a second year and she is on the grades committee. I am not 100% sure it is going to happen, but I thought it was an interesting development 😉

I'm gonna pass so much harder than you all.

Can anyone confirm or deny the pass/fail thing? Thanks.
