Currently OOS waitlisted (back on October 15, interviewed in Sept) but upper 1/3... any advice on writing a letter of intent? This is my favorite school and I hope to express interest but I know writing an LOI will not affect my waitlist position
You are welcome to submit a LOR, but as you said, it won't cause any movement on the waitlist.

Does consideration of state residency take into account limited IS options available to those in other states? Also, does it consider that someone from a state like Texas might not actually be counted as IS by TMDSAS? Asking for myself as well as for a friend. Thank you!
We interview approximately 500 applicants, of which about 35% will be from out of state. We go off of what you listed as your state of residency on your AMCAS application. We do not make more interview offers to those who have more or less medical schools in their state. It is solely off the strength of the application.

This might be a good question for Laurel, but I will try my best to answer.
To my recollection, much of the waitlist movement occurs at the end of the cycle. This is because, at that time, students with multiple acceptances are narrowing down their list to plan-to-enroll and finally their commit-to-enroll programs. The wonderful and really humanizing thing about applying to UCF Med is that, historically, admissions will tell you what quarter of the waitlist you are on and historically the odds that someone in your position will be extended an offer. That is not to say that WL movement ONLY occurs during that period- I believe it is just more likely.
Hope that helps!

Edit: I remember how tough the waiting period was during my application cycle. We put in so much time and energy during this process - ECs, LORs, secondaries, interviews. It is normal and common to feel anxiety during these days. However, I will encourage you to enjoy this time to the fullest extent you are able. If you are a traditional student, enjoy your Junior/Senior years (some days I look back on undergrad with a sense of nostalgia). If you are a nontraditional student with gap years, enjoy any free time you have by taking up a hobby or watching a movie or binging a show. And please do not feel the need to study/prepare for med school at this moment, you will have more than enough time to study medicine when you're here lol
Cristian is correct. Most movement occurs starting mid-April. However, if you are right towards the top of the group, it could be any given week. Acceptances off the waitlist are dependent on attrition and how applicants score who are reviewed after you. For example, if you are right towards the top, and everyone who is reviewed this week gets a lower score than you have, you are likely to be admitted at that meeting. Hope that helps.

I got waitlisted (IS upper third), and I am curious about the likelihood of an applicant moving down or up the waitlist? is it typical for applicants to move between tiers, for example, from top third to the middle third or etc.
@Luckypro ...since you both asked. It is not typical to move from the section you are in. However, if a significant number of applicants score higher or lower than you do, after you've been reviewed, it is possible.

OOS A! Does anyone know if this school is competitive for residency? I’m OOS so haven’t heard a ton about it!! Looking forward to the Jan 30 accepted students day
I believe Cristian posted the latest Match list above. We've had between a 98-100% Match every year that I've been here (10+). We always have many students Match into highly competitive specialties as well as competitive programs. Our Dean of Student Affairs is currently the national Past Chair for the Group for Student Affairs so she is in-the-know on everything to do with the Match and any changes that impact students. In addition, two years ago she took a sabbatical to write a Careers Curriculum which provides an overarching advising course to help students navigate from the M1 year, the process for being competitive for residency. This curriculum has since been licensed and purchased by other medical schools (and portions purchased and used by the AAMC). If you come to UCF COM, I think you'll find you are in very good hands as we take great pride in preparing our students to be physician leaders.

You are welcome to send a letter of interest and we are still accepting updates. It never hurts to show interest. I always check to see where someone is at when we get emails from applicants saying they are still very interest in our program.
And it appears that the preferred method via a portal I believe. Thank you and please don’t be yet another ghoster school after being gracious enough with your time to help us on here like this.

Thank you so much! Can match lists be reviewed at the accepted students day of Jan 30 open house?

Where can I submit one? Would you prefer via portal or email?
I was rereading some old stuff they emailed from back in ancient times, aka around secondaries, and it said to use the portal for updates. Friend also applying said saw the same fwiw.

We are actually working on updating the UCF website to show an archive of our last 5 years of Match data. We also will post the data on the class Facebook page once we have the new Match in March.

Grateful to have received an acceptance here! Has there been an accepted students group chat created? Looking forward to meeting some of you!

I submitted my secondary in late July. Considering the pre II rejections that went out today, if I did not receive one yet, do I still have a chance at getting an interview invite?

Are there still seats left or are the interviews going out now for WL?

Also does anyone know if doing an in-person visit boosts your chance of an A?

I’m crossing my fingers for an ii after the weekend. I have yet to receive an R so there’s still hope
i got an is ii today, i was asking if there are still As being given out or if the interviews going out now are for WL spots

congrats on the ii but it doesn't make sense to interview people for WL spots. They are interviewing to see if you'd fit their mission and if you wow them, you'll get an A, if not then either a WL or R

do you know if going to the in-person visit over the online carries any benefit app wise?

For those who already interviewed, how long did it take to get your results?

OOS A! Just got the call, followed by the email! Interviewed 12/12, but didn’t do my virtual visit until yesterday so I got the decision today.

This correct. We would not be interviewing if we weren't considering applicants for an acceptance.

I’m not middle aged so I don’t really use Facebook lol. I therefore second the idea of someone creating a group chat. Happy to do it if nobody else wants to.
I will try not to be offended by the middle age crack 😏. We have consulted with current students and they recommended we continue using the Facebook platform as we share content on there like Match data, housing information, roommate matching Excel docs, etc. that would not be easy to share on something like Instagram. If you do not want to use it for any of those purposes you can wait until your classmates create a GroupMe.

Mine was about a month, although that was over the holidays as well. Seems like a pretty quick turnaround overall
ugh i hope mine is quick I can barely even wait the week to get review date? Did they take the full week to email you your committee review date?

Would anybody who has interviewed be able to share a little about how their interview was?

I thought it was very chill overall. I had two traditional interviews and both interviewers really prioritized letting me know that they wanted it to be a low-stress thing. It was a little more structured than most of my other traditional interviews because both interviewers seemed to mostly have set questions to ask, but they were still fairly conversational where they could be and it was a good interview experience.

I agree. My interviewer described it as a way to add color and personality to what they have on paper. I felt really comfortable and we joked a few times. It has been my favorite interview so far

I agree with other commenters. My first and most chill interview. Almost felt like I met the MS4 in a casual scenario and we were just getting to know each other. I fumbled a couple questions with the faculty and he basically told me to chill and let me restart and answer them again.
