anyone know if there are ereader versions of the books/materials? I just got one and that would be so cool!
I agree with locus except that Clinically Oriented Anatomy and BRS anatomy aren't worth it. Netters + Grants + googling the areas that are difficult should suffice in my opinion.
Also, any Hold Applicant doing financial aid stuff? I'm really lost when it comes to that... I did my FAFSA, but is there anything else we can do right now while we wait?
PS--we're all going to get in this week.
did you do 2 FASFA, summer of this year 2010-2011 and FAFSA for Fall 2011-2012?
if you did FAFSA for school last year just go in and add FSU Finanical code so they can get it , so you will get loans to pay for summer
if you did all that then just Relax and wait
Good luck to everyone this week! Dana's voice over the telephone telling you have been accepted is 100% better/sweeter!! than an Email![]()
Thiemes is better than Netters I think. Really, there are a few atlases that are are as good or better than Netter. He is just the one that most people use.
BRS is for the questions more than the text. High Yield Anatomy by the same guy (Fix) is the better compressed source. When you go back to it later you start to catch stuff you didn't understand before. (Like I'm doing now)
I didn't use Grant's dissector at all. I actually thought it was completely worthless and didn't help me in the least. I quickly realized it was just easier to watching the michigan dissection videos and then go in there and cut rather than try to follow those things.
MICHIGAN PLUG! It's great to be a michigan wolverine! 😀
I was sad cause our thread fell to the 3rd page, so let's bump it back up to the top! haha
On a more serious note, has anyone gotten a call or anything? I know tonight at midnight is the deadline so I figured they weren't notifying anyone today, possibly starting tomorrow...?
but a lot of other schools seem to have movement. oh well, here's hoping we hear some good news tomorrow!
Also, anyone else on the waitlist and waiting to hear back? It seems like it's just me, mskar, london and sisterdisco... which is fine with me. haha
@mskar how was warrior dash? My friend was actually there.. she got top 1/3 of her age group and dressed as a "purple ninja" supposedly haha

It. Was. AWESOME! Everything I expected and more! I actually ran it twice -- once with everyone in my group (which included a lot of older folk) and once with my friend (at top speed obvs). It was one of the most badass things I've ever done, I'll def be doing it again next year.
Btw, I got top 1/8 for my age group, no big deal or anything 😉
Guys what is the DEAL? Absolutely no movement?!! I'm getting nervous over here. :/
Ok. I just dug up something I posted a few pages ago:
May 14- 1 acceptance
May 17- 1 acceptance
May 24- 2 acceptances
May 25-28 a batch of rejections
I think some if not all of us will hear something soon
Do you think we should contact Dana and see if she can give us any information?
I am rooting for you guys. You definitely seem like the type of kind, good-hearted individuals that I want to see in my class! I look forward to meeting all of you 😍 in a few weeks.
Hey guys,
I lurk a lot, but don't post much. I figured this might help relieve some people's anxiety (or might add to it...not sure at this point).
I called Admissions, and they said there has been small movement on the wait list already. She said less than 50 people remain on hold now. She wasn't 100% about the numbers though. Again, they are not releasing where the individual is on the list, and she said those that are rejected should expect to hear at the end of May/early June (this made me laugh because I am assuming these students would already know since orientation is the 31st).
Not much more beyond this. I am rearing to reapply. I really liked FSU, but I can't keep holding my breath anymore. I am just going to move on (remain on the wait list but stop thinking about it every gosh darn second), and hope for the best this upcoming cycle. I am taking Human Anatomy, so I need to start studying. I can't concentrate on ANYTHING except this wait list, which has made for a very unproductive two weeks since summer school started.
Anyways, best of luck to us, and hopefully, at least one of us will get in.
oh wow.. that doesn't sound too good for us then...
Also, for anyone who is on the waitlist with this school being their only chance (lurkers included), I wouldn't give up hope but I'd also start seriously thinking about what you plan on doing next if the cycle doesn't pan out. Many people already thought ahead, but it is one of those things where some get blinded by the hope and don't think about the "What now?" step.
I'd call up a few schools that you were either interested in or interviewed at and find out how to strengthen your application. One can get all the advice they want to from here, but it is best to go to the source. I wouldn't use the exact same personal statement. IF things don't work out, it may even be a good idea to write that personal statement when you're feeling all emotional and then gradually refine/edit it over a few weeks.
I applied to an MS in Physiology and an MS in Basic Medical Sciences already. Also recently inquired about research at FSU
Only thing FSU said I should have done is apply earlier 🙁
idk, my mom said she talked to someone and that she got them to tell her that I'm like 7th on the list, but she could just be trying to make me feel better or something. oh moms. but if it is true, we know that "small" does mean 1 to >7 :/ speculation is all we got!
Hmm i wonder if that means 7th after all the initial movement happened or 7th now.. either way that's pretty cool if it's legit lol you're pretty high up!
If only your mom could find my spot on the waitlist, hahaha
Man guys, this is so nerve-wracking 🙁
Oh to be a fly on the wall in one of those adcom meetings...
guys this makes me super nervous

....so maybe there's just going to be like 0 movement.
Hey all of you Wait listed. I unfortunately received a rejection on Monday and I was on the wait list. I am preparing my application for next go round (probably applying FSU ED) and hoping everything works out. I just wanted to wish everyone left on the list the best of luck. Also, the website that was posted about "Meet the Class of 2015" notice it says "Even though nothing is set in stone until every new student actually arrives, here is a closer look at some of the characteristics of those accepted so far into the Class of 2015...." All of you guys are still in the game! Good Luck to everyone and I hope all of you get in!
haha at least you got off the WL somewhere else!!
Yeah yeah, I know I shouldn't be so picky. But I REALLYYYY want to go to FSU!
There's still time anyway; it ain't over till it's over.
Yeah someone actually got an acceptance today (Thursday) at 4 PM (congrats to them! 👍) so there's definitely still a shot...
I'm just losing hope.. there seems to be little movement and there are still quite a few people on the waitlist. I have a feeling I'm probably in the 40s and my chance is pretty much zero, but I guess we'll just have to see.
ugh! the thought of having to reapply is not fun at all. lol congrats mskar on having an option though! that's super awesome!!!!!
Thanks, man! It's definitely a relief, that's for sure.
But honestly, reapplying isn't that bad. I had to reapply and looking back, I'm really glad it worked out that way. For one, it was easier the second time, because everything on your AMCAS just automatically carries over to the new AMCAS. Plus, I already had all my LORs; I just got one additional letter. So I was able to do everything way earlier. And on top of all that, this year off from school has been great for me -- I'm less stressed, I've lost weight, I took a post bac graduate class so I'm a better studier...all around, I feel ready to start med school. I didn't a year ago.
So obviously, I hope I'll be meeting all of you in a couple weeks, but if it doesn't happen, don't worry. Life goes on!
So apparently Dana is out of the office today (Friday) lol (Out of Office AutoReply)
so I guess my email will fall on deaf ears till monday. I'm not sure if I should send the email to the medadmissions account or just wait until monday.. lol
just got off the phone with them--the lady at admissions right now doesn't know much about the list, and like we've discovered, Dana isn't there to answer questions
She said the class is "virtually full." But they do expect movement next week. They didn't get like chunks of people turning down acceptances, it's pretty much happening as a one by one thing. So as soon as a spot opens up it, it's filled, and then they wait for another spot to open up. That's why we haven't seen movement like the other schools.... :/
And they don't want to tell us about where we are because they don't want to raise our hopes and then crush our dreams.
Thanks for letting us know!
I agree with the raising our hopes and crushing our dreams thing, but if I'm like in the 30-60 range of the waitlist rankings then I know my chances of getting in are like .01 percent lol so I'd like to know that... if I'm not in that range then they should just say.. well you're not in that range..
It wouldn't raise any hopes cause I'd still be unsure where I was under the 30.. but if i was in that higher group it would help me move on and start working on next year's stuff. lol

I think the prudent thing to do is to plan on not being accepted. It is a very difficult thing to accept, but sitting around hoping does not help productivity. I am sure it is very tough not having an acceptance letter in hand at this point, and my heart goes out to you. But if you allow yourself to become obsessed, especially when you should be preparing application info or studying for MCAT under the assumption that you will not be receiving an acceptance, it does not help your chances for next year.
I am certainly rooting for you guys. Let's just say I don't think you should plan any vacations for this summer until after June 4th has come and gone, but be productive in the mean time.
This is hard to read I am sure, but if you plan on not being accepted and move on, should you happen to get an acceptance it will be all the sweeter.
Good luck everyone!
