Part of me kind of wishes it were a rejection rather than a waitlist, since I'm kind of far down on the list. Now I'm going to be in permanent limbo. If I do get in, it won't be until the last possible second, so I am going to have to be sitting on this while I reapply.

I was under the impression that waitlist and rejections would both go out today. For people who haven't received any news, maybe your e-mail kicked the UA e-mail to spam. It's worth checking.

Also, what is everyone's waitlist rank (if you don't mind sharing)? Last year's group made a list and they were able to track what waitlist spot the UA-Tucson campus was on. I think it would be nice to do that this year, too.

I feel you. I am in the "maybe" zone, which really doesn't give me any more information than I've had since october.

I'm planning on moving forward with my "Plan B" plans and work under the assumption that I will not be accepted.

OH well, I am gonna miss the nice weather for sure.

I got the reject e-mail at 10:37AM. Fourth year applicant. Undergrad GPA was not strong, but graduated with a Masters of Science in Molecular & Cellular Biology with a 3.6. I had a 35N on the MCAT and had an amazing interview(hit every point I needed and pretty sure the interviewer wanted to adopt me). The only thing I did wrong was apply to ONLY U of A the past three years, but being an in-stater I wanted to stay in-state. Unfortunately I am going to have to take the MCAT again, but I will be definitely applying out of state next app season, which is right around the corner. Good Luck everyone, and congrats again to those accepted.

Rejected.

Last year I was waitlisted. Reapplied this year with 4+ MCAT points, another full year of a clinical job and clinical volunteering experience. Oh Tucson you crazy.

Can't wait to see what their "Personal File Review" says, as it was pretty much b.s. last year.

I totally understand

Ugh. Just Ugh with a side of Ugh.

I thought today was going to be an exciting day, not turn into some weird bloodbath.

Tucson doesn't make ANY sense to those of us on the outside looking in.

Received my waitlist email at 1:08pm EST. I'm number 58.

My stats: OOS (w/ some family in AZ), 30Q, 3.85, Teach For America alum, several volunteer/clinical experiences, dual-degree B.S./B.A, research (w/award, presentation, and publication).

I'm beginning to loathe waitlists; I'm on four now and waiting to hear back from two other schools post-interview. All this waiting is driving me crazy.

I just found some info from the 2009-2010 University of Arizona Application Thread (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=625446&page=59) that I'm sure is of interest to fellow waitlisters.

I can't emphasize enough how helpful it was to have these graphs last year. If any of you are a little higher up on the waitlist, like I was last year (#49), it is really nice to see the progression of the graph and be able to guess by the slope when you may be accepted. Hold tight! Congratulations everyone!

First time posting...

I've been following this thread throughout the cycle and am very grateful for the valuable information provided...

I am WL'd #65

Good luck to everyone!

So this is what I have so far:

Waitlist positions-
56) PsychDO
57) BaronVonZ
58) Moot
65) Zonaaa
73) Meow3

Champaigne, Cobblepot and Medhopeful777's friend- would you care to share your spots?

Are there any SDNers out there who are below 50? The lower the WL position we can identify, the better we will be able to track the WL movement.

Congrats to all those who got WL spots and regrets to those who didn't make it this time. I hope all of you make it and get good news soon!

Long time thread stalker! Got the waitlisted email at 9:51 today, ended up with a rank under #20. Thrilled now I can't wait for them to start processing. Interviewed in Sept and didn't hear anything until today

rejected. to me it's much better than being waitlisted in the 60-75 range. honestly, the waiting had really affected my mood and relationships with people. now the weight has been lifted.

never felt so good to lose.

No problem, my friend's spot is #32.

Rejected – Reapplicant/IS

4 majors (in very different fields)/ 2 minors/ 1 certificate/ 3.96 GPA
7 years of research (made a vaccine when I was 16)
3 years of Ochem TA experience (started TAing when I was 17)
Medical Scribe
Made a clinic in a 3rd world country/still fundraise to provide funding for scholarships in the same village
Over 3000 hours of community service in last 4 years

I can go on forever about all I did. The person who interviewed me was very impressed by my resume, but I am not sure what happened there. I have never felt this disheartened and discouraged my entire life. Nevertheless, congratulations to all that were put on WL.

I will be drinking away my sorrows for the next few months until I head out to Caribbean and reminisce about all I did and could have done. If any of you would like to grab drinks and vent, let me know.

I got rejected from Tucson this morning. So i guess that means I'll be accepting my Phoenix offer. See you all there if you are going to the second look this weekend!

Sorry you didn't get your top choice, ScubaSteve. We'll do our best to make sure you love us, though!!

Hey,

I was rejected. OOS (32, 3.85).

Had a bad interview at Tucson. Interviewer showed up late, not really interested in talking to me and knew nothing about the school. I never really connected with the school because of that. So not too disappointed, although I did like living in Tucson for undergrad.

Still hopeful about Phoenix, my first choice so hopefully I will get accepted there in the coming weeks. (Just wish I knew more about their waitlist.) But I also have other options. Regardless, congrats to those with good rankings, enjoy Tucson.

Rejected. I thought I'd at least have a super high waitlist number but I guess I wasn't UA material to begin with. Feels. Like. ****. Anyways congrats to all those WL'd in reasonable queue.

I'll be at Midwestern-AZCOM getting my DO in August, and will be rotating at UMC and TMC during MS3. See you Tucson cats in couple of years!

I'm IS and I got spot #78 this morning. I'm also on the mysterious Phoenix waitlist. That post from last year is really great. Someone in the 90's on the Tucson waitlist got into Phoenix. That makes me feel way more hopeful. Thanks to everyone who has compiled all this research! Looks like I'll most likely be moving to Oregon to go to Western U.

So I got the email today, I am #47. I only applied to the two UoA's (both on the last possible day) and got denied from PHX even though I thought the interview went much better there.

I am encouraged by what has been posted previous years, but am curious if there are seperate lists for in and out of state? That could change my outlook significantly.

A positive thought for fellow waitlistees:

I think waitlist movement will be higher than average this year. There are three reasons for this belief:

1. As the class size at UofA-PHX grows, there will be more waitlist cannibalism between the schools.
2. With the (still relatively recent) growth of out of state acceptances comes more out of state students on the waitlist. These students are less likely to matriculate than in state students if offered acceptance.
3. UofA suffered a substantial drop in the US News and World Report rankings this year (down 16 spots to 71), which will lead to more students choosing to decline their acceptance offers. I know the SDN mantra is "rankings don't matter", but they do impact people's decisions.

Of course, I don't claim to have any inside knowledge - there could be no waitlist movement at all for all I know. These are simply factors that I have noticed play a role in other school's waitlist movement throughout the years.

Good luck to everyone in any case!

Nope, no separate lists. I actually think that is a good thing because it means you only need 47 people to reject their acceptances or waitlist spots for you to be accepted (and those spots just fly by once national decision day comes around).

I agree that it's somewhat insignificant, but I don't think this is accurate. Last year Arizona ranked 66/68 in research/primary care. It's now 71/51. Disinformation ? Or am I missing something?

I had them written down as 55 (research)... perhaps I was mistaken? Either way I think the point still stands, though possibly to a lesser degree.

Congrats to those of you making the waitlist! I know the waitlist was delayed coming out, but now that its out you all know where you stand way ahead of any unranked waitlist. If I had to guess, I'd say expect about the same amount of movement as last year. Especially if you're in the top 40, you're basically as good as in already; it's just a matter of when it becomes official. From 40-60, you'll have to be a little more patient, but it should come your way soon enough. Congrats again.

I would say at worst the school broke even.

I am ranked #22 just to add to the list.

Go Wildcats!🙂

I would say at worst the school broke even.

How does dropping = breaking even? 😕 I think you're missing my point altogether - this has to do with wait list movement, I don't care about the rank. No point denying reality though

Dropping five spots in research but gaining seventeen in primary care would likely at worst result in an equal overall ranking. Clearly you do care about the rank since you deduced (probably correctly) that it will influence waitlist movement.

Thanks for keeping this going! The more waitlisters we get, the more accurately we can assess the movement.

No matter the reason, I hope BaronVonZ is right and we see some spectacular waitlist movement this year!

"Dorothy Mantooth is a SAINT!"

I think of that quote everytime he/she posts.

Anyone know if there is still a chance for people on the wlist for phoenix? Haven't heard much about movement off the w list at all...

Hopefully htbruin and SO2010 keep you guys posted on their status, cuz last year a day or two after the WL came out #14 was accepted. It might even be worth it for some one to call Friday to check how the early WL movement is coming if you don't hear anything.
