Okay, I didn't have such a great experience... I had MAJOR wardrobe malfunctions even though I have tried it on plenty of times and even wore it for 5 hours the day before my interview. 3 days before the interview I got a mild case of facial eczema... There must be forces working against me

I was asked, "Why do you want to be a doctor" in both interviews. I was not asked about health care reform. Everyone was pretty interested in my story about last year and what happened since then =)

The dean is awesome and the interviewers are very conversational. I did make the mistake of not rereading my answers to the secondary app prior the interview.. so I paused for 5 seconds to try and recall what in the world I wrote to have him ask that question :idea:

Conclusion: Outfit = bad. Interviewers = relaxed and very pleasant. Dean = awesome.
 
I just had a dream where I was interviewed while wearing gym shorts and a shirt that says "shoo-in". The interviewer didn't seem to mind and was more into wanting to know me as in individual. After the first interview, I realized what I was wearing and freaked out. I went to find more appropriate clothes before the second interview would start and they wouldn't fit. That was when I woke up.....glad it was only a dream lol....anyone with interviews getting dreams like this lately? weird lol

No way! I had the same dream, only I ended up with 20 minutes and only a kids gap close by. I ended up in khaki pants and a blue blazer that boys wear to private school (I'm a female).. terrifying to say the least, glad I'm not the only one
 
Haha, this is hilarious. I actually had a dream where I got an early phone call and they told me I wasn't accepted. 😳

just a nightmare guys, but it was pretty scary lol. I think the fast food chains should print out those findings and use them as paper covers for the trays lol.
To everyone who were interviewed, did any of your interviewers write anything down? None of my interviewers did. We just talked past the time limits.

Neither of my interviewers wrote anything down, but my second one asked me questions from a card she kept looking at.
 
Hello all! I was an EDP applicant, didn't get an interview as such, but was automatically given an interview as a RD applicant. Is this what happens to all rejected EDP applicants or did they actually decide to interview me?

They decided to interview you. I was an ED applicant and they kicked me back to RD without an automatic interview. Welcome, congrats and good luck!

I HAVE.........nt received a notice from KU. Did I make anyone nervous? I hope not lol
BTW, anyone brave enough to add their interviewers as friends on fb? lol. Omg, I searched and found one of my interviewers on fb. I went in and looked around for a little bit and then just freaked out and turned off my comp lol.

Is it ok to bring notes to the interview with points you want to hit in your answers? Like a cheat sheet essentially...

Lostking: it's ok to bring notes, but you should put them away before your interview time.
 
Yah i brought a little black notebook and stowed it away for the interview. It drew other peoples attention though, because nobody else brought one.

They probably thought your notebook was a Death Note one. It's not right? lol......it's ok if you don't know what I'm talking about =D.

Rofl, I've heard of that show 😀

According to last years thread everybody heard today (well, it was the 28th, but still monday) starting at 2pm, but last year the committee was able to meet that first week and this year they couldn't so they still have to meet again on wednesday.

Death Note is a Japanese manga series that is made into movies/shows. The basic idea is that the death god left a black notebook on earth and whoever uses it could kill people.....but to kill people, the user must know the person's name and face to write the details in the book =). For some it would sound like a good book to take out the competition lol

For those of you who did EDP interviews, what was the schedule like? What time did the day start and end?
 
they had 6 groups divided into 3 pairs of A and B, C and D, and E and F.
A and B checked in 7:45 and day was over at 1:30
C and D checked in 9:45 and day was over at 2:30
E and F checked in 10:45 and day was over 4:30

there was meeting with sandy mccurdy, tours, interviews, financial aid talk, meeting with deans, and lunch

the order of those things depended on what group you were in.
the group designations were likely based on the distance that they figured you had to drive in order to arrive there. (closest in A/B group, furthest in E/F group)

will be similar for all interviews i believe

Congrats to Labs33 and to all who are accepted! I'm rolled over like you too Omzy lol, so I need to talk to Dean McCurdy to find out what is really going on. I just needed some minutes to recover and now I'm back to work!
 
I did not get accepted either. There were 4 of us on here that interview ED right? 3 out of 4.... That seems wrong, doesn't it? I am really disappointed. I was not accepted last year and thought I had a much better shot since I am a re-applicant. What is going on? I am going to call Jason Edwards first thing tomorrow. Has anyone made plans to apply anywhere else? I have not, stupidly, thinking that since I got an EDP interview as a 2nd timer that I would be accepted.

We are still waiting for Jnmpc, which I really hope you are accepted! I am applying to other places right now, but my heart is still at KU......geez....and why do I feel that genesea was interviewed for ED too? Are you ED genesea? =)
 
Yah, that is pretty weird. I'm in the same boat julies. Didn't really prepare for this situation and honestly I'm kind of shocked. My stats are good, my ECs are pretty decent, my essays improved dramatically, and I thought my interviews went great. Acceptance is supposed to be around 70-90% for EDP, so what gives?
 
I agree. I have a 29(B:11, V:9, P:9) MCAT, a 3.6 overall with a huge variety of classes, a 3.8 science. I thought my essay was much better this year and I know that my interview went much better. I have much more experience in life and in medicine. I am shocked. I am wondering if working in Pathology has hindered me. Most of my interviewers (both times) were less than impressed with that experience. I think that they assume I do not know about clinical medicine or that I have no social skills or something. I tried really hard to convey that neither of those assumptions are correct. I do know about the clinical side and I am actually very personable. I do not have much volunteering but thats probably the biggest hole and that can't overshadow it all. Has anyone had anything show up in their MEDS page yet?

Drak- Where are you applying?
 
I'm kinda nervous now. I know 4 people that were early decision that didn't get in. I know one personally, and they have waaaay better stats (gpa,mcat, and research) than I do. I don't know if I should be nervous or not. I'm not sure if they did any shadowing or volunteering, so that could be part of it, and I haven't been able to find out more information yet.
 
yes i was edp (said earlier in thread).
interviewed same day as omzy.
i got accepted.
i didn't even read the email i just scanned it for the terrible keywords (like "regret to inform you") that devastated me last cycle. when they weren't there i actually read it, reread it, printed it so my husband could reread it for me, and then started celebrating.

but as a wise magic eight ball assured me this last spring: it is just a matter of time.
if you want to be a doctor badly enough then you can make it happen. i am sorry that it wasn't this year through edp but i am rooting for you guys for regular decision.

have a very busy weekend (birthday, wedding, and a funeral) but will make sure to post all my interview questions in the feedback area next week so you guys can be armed to go for your next interviews.

good luck for those still waiting for regular decision interview invites. now that edp is officially over those should be coming shortly.

Julies-it's kinda late in the cycle but here's my list.....I'm still set on KU though

I looked up the ones with research ranking near KU: KU, Baylor (just for fun =D), Rosalind Franklin, Creighton, Illinois at Chicago, Loyola, MU, Nebraska, SLU, AZ in Tucson, Penn State (???), Nevada (again for fun lol), Rush, and Drexel. That's it so far. Again, I've been set on KU so I don't know if anything will work because I don't know much about these schools....geez...I probably have to start doing some research on these.
 
It's kind of funny that you made that list because I am literally looking up a bunch of those schools right now. I know its a long shot but a lot of them have deadlines in November and December. I am at least going to try. Has anyone given any thought to DO schools? My only objection is the price, personally,but I am currently looking at private schools so I guess that doesn't make any sense. It seems like DO and MDs are on a mostly even playing field these days. Oh and FYI I have a book about all the med schools in the US and Canada. Louisiana is very cheap. Even for out of state-rs. Its almost too cheap, but all the med schools there are like that.
I digress.... So what does everyone think about DO? I just don't want to keep waiting. I am tired of waiting to start my life

Guys, with our numbers and one more chance I think we should fix our mistakes and do better in the winter event (the email said winter). We messed up the interviews somehow, so we need to replay them in our heads and look for mistakes. I still like KU a lot and their commitment contract, which allows me to pursue EM and get my tuitions and expenses paid during med years in exchange for my commitment to stay in KS for 4 years after residency. I think DO is disadvantaged for competitive residencies and usually for pursuing general practice. So, Julies, if you like general practice, why not do the Kansas Loan Program and have your expenses paid.....or if you like specialized medicine, why not do MD? lol.......MD either way =D
 
Yeah I think that you are right. I am just upset and feeling all dooms-day-ish. I don't know about everyone else's numbers but I am not super competitive for very many other schools. I would say that out of state schools are pretty much out. Private schools are not completely out of the question but the cost is nuts. I can honestly not think of a single moment I had doubt in my interview. I was riddled with doubt last year but this time it felt solid. Our scores, essays, etc must be fine because as a EDP interviewee you are essentially pre-selected for acceptance. I hope that they didn't think I was over confident. I wasn't saying anything about how wonderful I am or anything. I was just honest and answered with conviction. Oh well. I can't wait until the phone interview. I want to know what happened!!!!!
 
I'm not happy (of course lol) with the results. I wonder what they would look for in an applicant. I know for sure that KU accepted a couple of party animals last cycle lol. I roll my eyes every time I look at their fb stuff lol.
 
Anyone get an appointment set up? Keep getting Jason's voicemail.

Edit: Nevermind, got ahold of him and set one up for next week.
