Looks like I get the honor of being the first one in this thread to say those three magical words:

I AM REJECTED!

No worries, as an OOS applicant I was expecting it. I did not realize until I had already sent them my money that it was an extreme long-shot to get into this school as OOS. Rejection came as an email for all who are wondering how they will possibly be tendering regrets this year. Good luck to all who are still in the running! 🙂

Interview invite 12/8, see you there Tinsley. Does anyone know how long interviews and acceptance notifications have been going on at USA this cycle?

The first interview was EDP/EAP only and was on Sept 22. Regular interviews began the following week to my knowledge.

Anyone else interviewing on Wednesday (Dec. 1st)?! I hope it stops raining by then. 😛

Fabulous interview yesterday!! 😀 My interviewers were very positive about what I'd done in the past year to strengthen my application. Honestly, last year when I interviewed I left thinking that if I USA was the only place I got in then I guess I'd go. This time I left thinking I'd be honored to attend. Here's hoping to a letter from the dean next week! :xf:

That's GREAT news!!! I'm happy for you😀 I'm sure if you have a good feeling about it then you'll probably be getting that letter on Monday👍 It'll be in a cream-colored envelope, so it stands out from the rest of the mail. Good luck to you:luck: Keep us updated!

Well, it's down to the final stretch. I would say that I'll be the guy in the red bow tie, but popular opinion here in Central Alabama has given me pause about the overly-conservative dynamic. However upon acceptance to one of the fine institutions I'm applying to, my bow ties and suspenders will be seeing quite a bit of action!

Oh yeah, I'm bringing that look back haha.

Anyone else interviewing on the 15th?

I love how the quote under this picture says "A red bow tie and suspenders will get any man laid."

Got my acceptance from Dec 1 interview today-kind of flattered. Didn't think I would hear back from UAB and South so soon after interviews.

Congrats! I interviewed the same day. I hope when I get home and check my mail I'll be as flattered!

Guess they were feeling generous this week because... I'm going to be a doctor! 👍 Congrats everyone!

No Ditto - You raised the bar!!! Amazing work on that MCAT. Congratulations!

With my interview in less than 18 hours, I just want to say congrats to all of the fully accepted and good luck to all my fellow interviewees tomorrow. I was given a motivational tool by an MS1 friend: "this interview is not an obstacle but an opportunity--USA is your #1 pick and they want you!" Whether or not USA is your top preference, think of your interview in this way; it really provides an excellent address to any anxiety.

Anyone who is interviewing tomorrow, PM me, and we'll meet up at the orientation! I certainly would like some conversation before the Inquisition (I'm Catholic and couldn't resist).

It's over, and I met up with some people I missed seeing. The sessions were wonderful, and Dr. Scott was a great guy as always. Anyone needing insight, feel free to PM me. I'm willing to help as much as possible. Hopefully, that magical cream-colored envelope will be in my box on Monday!

👎 I was really hoping you'd hear good news this year. It's still early though! They may drop the bar a little come Jan/Feb and you'll get in!

Yeah, I was hoping to get this out of the way, and not spend the next three months waiting to find out if I'm accepted. I hope they lower the bar in January or February, but I have a feeling I won't hear from USA until late march when they make their final decisions. I hope I get accepted as they are my first choice.

This thread has been dead as of late. Anybody hear anything lately as far as interviews go? Last year I got an invite on the 22nd of January. Hoping for another one soon :xf::luck::xf::luck:

Looking forward to my interview on 1/19. Actually, really really looking forward to it! I think USA would be a great fit for me. I'm glad to see that they don't string you out on a wire making you wait for good news.
*Fingers crossed for great news*

I am interviewing on 1/26...really looking forward to it!:xf:

Good Luck!! :xf:

Does anybody know (or know how to find out) how many interview days South has left for this application cycle?

Last year, I interviewed on March 10th and that was the last interview day.

Congratulations to those of you who have been accepted, and good luck to those who are still interviewing! 😀

I got an early interview with uab(no news) and have heard absolutely nothing from south. I'm in-state with decent stats - Is there still a chance for an interview here?

i would recommend calling south and asking about your status. they lost my friend's application a few years ago so i would just call and make sure everything's still there. good luck!

Last year interviews went on until mid-march (3/11 at UAB and 3/10 at South). And the wait-list kept moving through July. Don't lose hope just yet. Things aren't even close to over. Not by a long shot.

Hey Dopaminuet! How are classes?!

hey guys, i interviewed last wednesday, and nothing in the mail today. I was thinking of calling and asking my status, what do you guys think?

Interviewed on 1/26 and received a hold card yesterday 🙁 I realize Dean Scott said that you still have a good chance if you get one, but anyone have any experience?

Hoping for the best and good luck and congrats to all fellow interviewees!

i also received a hold card from the 1/26 interviews, so your not alone BHAM

Hey Dopaminuet! How are classes?!

Everything's awesome at South. As you know, I'm pretty lucky to be here, so I definitely appreciate my time here. I thought I had read you got accepted here? Plan on going here? I know it's a been a long ride for you so far, too.

Yeah, the hold card sucks because of the uncertainty. It's a step above the wait-list. I interviewed the last possible day at South, got a hold card, which took some time to turn into a wait-list position, which took till almost all the way to July to become an acceptance (and got two others right after South). It was a rough ride to say the least, but I know that it has definitely affected my gratefulness to be here and my work ethic has benefited. I was one of the last to be accepted, but based on class averages on somewhere in the middle for overall performance. I definitely came in with a bit more Inspirado after being in limbo for so long and finally having at all come together at the last minute.

I knew a lot of hold-carders that got in. It just took so long last year because the entire process was dependent upon what was happening at UAB. Maybe it will be more punctual this year. And maybe you'll get another acceptance to soften the blow in the meantime.

But for me, it was always South (after the interview).

PS: My stats didn't do me any favors: MCAT 27, sGPA 3.4, cGPA 3.7
