congrats! when did you submit your secondary and complete date? I am still working on my secondary...yikes! 😀 There are so many questions on this one! Is everyone doing over 1,000 characters on each?

I received the complete email around the 20th of Aug. I honestly do not remember when I submitted the secondary, but I doubt it was more than one or two weeks before that. Good luck with the secondary! I believe all my responses were over 1000 characters but some of them not too much more.

anybody else got interview invitation? Still quite here. 😕

So quiet over here...anyone received an interview invite yet? I am IS so I am hoping they show me the love.😍

Hello all,

I am an MS1 here at USF, just wanted to let you know that we did have a few interviewees on campus last Tuesday. I didn't see them but I heard there were around 5 or so. That is a pretty small group from what I remember of my interview day last year (I think we had 12-15 on my day). Also from what I have heard from the admin, interviews are starting now and will continue through March. So there is plenty of time, try and relax if you can, and feel free to shoot me any questions that you may have. I'll do my best to check on here at least once weekly and try and provide you with the most accurate answers I can.

I was at the interview last Tuesday. There were 6 of us total. Two from UF, one from Brandeis University, one from Wash U, and one from USF. The interview was really nice and non-stressful. Everyone makes themselves available to answer your questions. Also, definitely attend the Jason's Deli dinner the night before. Meeting with the med students gives you a really good look into the inner-workings of the school/curriculum. Good luck to all of you!

If I'm not mistaken, the interviews that have taken place so far have been for early decision...at least that's the rumor I've heard.

Are you EDP or regular? Thanks.

Nope, they are doing regular admissions interviews. I have a friend who interviewed here a couple of weeks ago, and I was invited this week for interview (>3.8, >34, complete August 30).

I stand corrected! Good luck at your interview!

The schedule I have starts Sept 14th for EDP, first regular cycle is Sept 28th and goes until the end of April, with a few skipped weeks in the fall when the committee isn't meeting.

This hasn't changed. There was only one EDP interview date on Sept. 14. Regular cycle began Sept. 28th.

This is slightly sarcastic, but unless you have crazy good stats and have cured cancer/saved babies in Africa/developed new vaccines for herpes, it is more than likely that you are going to interview January or later (this was my experience from last year - the majority of people who interviewed in October/November really didn't have any interest in coming to USF and were using it as a 'back-up' school) Which is why a majority of the class that matriculated came from the later interview dates, which is yet another reason why no one should be freaking out about not having an interview invite at this time.

I don't have crazy stats and have not cured cancer and I got an interview invite. It probably has more to do with me turning in my application super early.

Congrats!

Can you share a little bit more about your status? Thanks.

Thus why my commentary started with "This is a little sarcastic"

I am an undergrad at USF. I have a 3.88GPA and a 34P on my MCAT. Got email that says I was complete Oct 4th. When should I hope to get an interview?

Interview invite yesterday! Still trying to figure out scheduling. Somewhat difficult to accomodate Tuesdays with school.

Hi Everyone,

I was completed on 8/20/10. No invitation yet. Can I send updates at this time?

I know USF clearly say "Please do not contact us for status updates and do not send application updates (including transcripts) unless specifically requested."

Will it hurt if I send updates now? Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, it will hurt you, because the person who you will be annoying with the unwanted update is the same person who schedules the interviews. Don't do it.

I'm in the same boat. About the same stats (3.85/ 33R) and an undergrad at USF. I think with USF it's all numbers..like highest MCATs and GPAs first. My friend with a 35 interviewed a couple weeks ago, so hopefully we are up soon 🙂

Have you interviewed anywhere else yet?

I woke up to an interview invite!! I am also a USF undergrad. I'm hoping for the best! Good luck to everyone else!

I think next Monday I am gonna call the admissions office, just to confirm I an complete, etc.

3.86 34P MCAT, and not a peep.

Has anyone heard back (accept, wait-list, deny) post-interview from USF? I interviewed on 10/12 and they said it would take up to 4 weeks but I'm curious about how long it actually took for others.

ughh. this secondary is killing me. I am MAKING myself finish it this week. Congrats on completing it, gujudoc, because you are right it is a BEAST!

Thanks gujudoc.

Sorry, if I seem so high strung. I just figured I'd receive an invite from USF, before UF, and I received one from UF about a week or so after I was complete.

Will call tomorrow, if I learn of anything, I'll be sure to share it with everyone.

I haven't done it yet either, and I'm going to be engaged with other considerations until the middle of next week. I love USF, and I love the location (I grew up in St. Petersburg), but this secondary is no walk in the park. Please don't hate me, USF. <3

Interviewing here this upcoming Tuesday? Any advice/tips? I will not be able to attend the social unfortunately because my flight gets in late but any help or impressions would be greatly appreciated.

You can ask to have a current student/students contact you and give you their perspective. Just reply to the e-mail with the dinner info.

I called, got voicemail. They emailed a response, so I didnt get a chance to have a conversation with anyone.

I do understand what you are saying gujudoc, but it would be quite a shame, to fall through the cracks.. so to speak, at almost 14 different medical schools, of approximately atleast 5 or 6, I am to a certain level of significance well above their average in stats. But, I guess, I wont be able to do anything about that....

^I would say I had very strong ECs in volunteering, community service, physician shadowing, hobbys/interests.

Praying right along with you. Can't wait for all of the anxiety to be over. I guess in 7 months the dust will settle, and will know the outcome, no matter what it may be.

Oh man, I submitted my secondary over a month ago, maybe more, sometime in september, I've got a 32R and 3.7 sGPA. I just want to go to USF. I have an interview at UF and i would give that up for a USF interview. USF is my top choice.

I just wish this process was more expedient, but i must learn patience.

SCRATCH THAT! woke up this morning to an INTERVIEW INVITE! YESSSSS!!!!

I got an interview invite this morning too! It's my home institution so I'd love the opportunity to stay in Tampa.

Hey has anyone heard back from USF post-interview? I interviewed 10/12 and they said it would be 4 weeks which means tomorrow so I'm just curious if they are staying true to their deadline...

I interviewed before that and have heard nothing back from them. When I called the admissions office, they said we would be hearing back "soon." Apparently several of their admissions personnel were at conferences of some type, which delayed their processing of interviewees.

Hey guys, i interviewed 10/26 and got a call this morning on 11/11 that I was accepted. I dont have crazy scores or anything, so dont worry if you don't have 4.0 GPA and a 39S MCAT!!!

good luck to everyone!😀

Hey they are calling today! I got in and have marginal stats- MCAT 30, GPA 3.7 overall, 3.47 science. My interview was on 10/12. Good luck everyone!

complete 8/20, still no news. Can I call to ask the status?

Still no word from anyone post-interview?
I interviewed at USF a month ago (and loveddd it), but all is still quiet.
Should I call and ask?

No. People have been hearing at 4-6 weeks. If you are on post-interview hold, it sucks, but like I've told everyone else, if you start calling and asking, you risk just being annoying. And yes, it is documented, and yes, it will affect you.

This is the absolute worst part of med school - waiting to get in.

You are allowed ONE post interview update. Use it wisely.

Is that post interview update only to be used before they've given you their post interview decision of waitlist, etc.? or does it help say if you were placed on the waitlist? Just curious

Once they've made the decision, it's final as far as I am aware. So if you get waitlisted, sending an update isn't helpful. It's more if anything has happened between you submitting your application and when you interview that you want them to have documentation of.

Naps, I appreciate all the useful info you have given us. For clarification, if we have not heard in six weeks are we to assume we've been wait-listed or put in a post-interview hold? I have recently spoken with Adrienne and this is NOT what she said. She said that everyone that interviewed during the fall would know before the start of the Winter Holidays. And that not all people that were accepted were necessarily notified yet. I hope I was not being directly mislead :-/.

Also, she said that the limit was not one post-interview update. She said they will accept as many as you send, but to only send with meaningful information. Tons of useless updates will not help your cause.

I appreciate any information you can give me on this topic. Thanks mate, with USF ad com crew changing all around, its kinda hard to get accurate reads/data on how things are run.

Thanks again!
