Seems like today's D-day, :S !

Anyone who already interviewed, where did you stay when you interviewed (hotel? any recommendations?) -- what are your thoughts on the Radisson in New Rochelle, NY? Thanks.

New Rochelle would be fine if you're driving or can find some other way of getting here (cab, unless there's a shuttle or you don't mind doing public transportation that will take an hour w/several connections).

A lot of interviewees stay on campus with student hosts. If you don't mind doing this, it would obviously be your cheapest and most convenient option.

If you don't want to stay with a student, I'd find a hotel in Manhattan. If you're unfamiliar with the subway system and don't feel like figuring out how to get here, your best bet is to find a place on the E side near a bxm10 stop (http://www.mta.info/busco/schedules/bxm10cur.pdf). This is the express bus that will drop you off right on campus. Very easy. I stayed in the upper west side when I interviewed due to another interview in that area--less convenient but worked out fine, too.

Congrats to all those accepted! 🙂 Looking forward to meeting you all in August!

There is a Facebook group for accepted students if anyone would like to join

https://www.facebook.com/groups/287546877977465/

A good place to get to know one another and share any questions/information.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Do any current Einstein students know how many applicants are taken off of the high priority wait-list? I know movement is year-dependent, but I'm just trying to get an idea.

I was wondering the same...from last year's thread it seems like people got in off the waitlist, but does anyone know if it might be very different this year (apps were at an all-time high)?

Is there a website to determine the status of my application (pre-interview) or do I have to email them? I was thinking I could have been rejected already but that email could have been sent to my spam folder or whatever. I've just sent an update later so I am hesitant in sending another email to them.

Did you check your spam folder?

been complete since august and no word about anything. how many more days of interviews do they have?

I think you're off to a good start with the LOI. Unfortunately, I don't know that there's much you can do other than to continue to let them know that you're still interested and/or they are your first choice. Search the pre-allo forum, and you'll see there are dozens (if not hundreds) of threads in which letters of intent and interest are discussed.

I'm certainly no expert, but if it were me, I would just be persistent and keep up with letting them know that you're still interested (without going overboard or being annoying/overly aggressive). You sent a letter of interest, now if you have anything new to update them on--even if it's something you told your interviewer, but are unsure if they have in writing--send an update letter and use that opportunity to remind them how into the school you are. You can send a letter of intent if Einstein is really your number one choice--this is kind of like a letter of interest, except that you make a clear, definitive statement that this school is your top choice and you are completely committed to attending if accepted, above all other schools, etc. You can send in a new LOR (from someone you're currently working for, for example) if you can think of one that might help. You can just call up the office now and then to check on your status/the status of the waitlist, let them know you're still interested, and so on.

There are plenty of people on the waitlist. You just don't want to fade into the background. Schools like to offer acceptances to people that they know are really enthused about the school and will come if extended an offer. It makes them look good, and they like to have people who are really happy to be here, who are right for the school and who the school is right for.

I remember seeing that thread...you have to keep in mind the people who are vocal and go to the effort of making threads are the ones who are pissed off about something (much like the reviews on those Rate My MD type sites). Not exactly an accurate representation. I'm sure you know that, though. That said, I think issues like that do happen on occasion almost everywhere, just depends on everyone's unique circumstances. FWIW, The 3rd/4th years that I've met are all happy and have had nothing but good things to say when I've asked about how things are going. I don't really know any well enough to refer you to them, but you can always call the admissions office and ask if they can put you in touch with one to answer your questions.
Thanks so much for the tips regarding getting off the waitlist!

No problem. I'd really emphasize the last thing I wrote--if you're writing a letter of interest, that's an opportunity to tell them why you are right for the school, not just why the school is right for you. I think it's really easy to fall into the trap of writing a letter that becomes "why I love Einstein," but that's stuff that every other applicant can write; while there is value in that info, I think it'd be a waste of a great opportunity to sell yourself a bit and demonstrate why you're a good fit as well, if that's all you focus on. Good luck.

e-mail....very rarely do schools send out paper mail anymore.

MCW and I believe Downstate still does. Thanks for the info.

Are there any interview spots left or are they slowly handing out rejections?

Are there any interview spots left or are they slowly handing out rejections?

when I got my II they said to schedule a month out, but allowed me to schedule on April 20th (II received March 8th) so I would imagine there are still some interview spots

Has anyone gotten any acceptances in the past month?

Anyone know if the Admissions office is waiting until May 15 to start looking at the waitlist? I'm wondering whether sending more letters of interest and intent is helpful at this point before May 15.

Anyone know where I can find the 2012 match list? I have searched with no luck. Thanks

Rejected! Wasn't expecting any different haha. Good luck everyone!

Man...I wish I would get some news from Einstein so I could either prepare for an interview or move on. I don't anticipate getting positive news at this point.

Sad to hear about all the people rejected yesterday. Best of luck to you.

I'm not even sure what this means now, without getting any word.

Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back after an interview?

After my interview the gal that works in the office said she couldn't give a timeframe because it really depends on the interviewer, highly in satisfying I know. Based on what others have said it looks like anywhere from 4 weeks to 3 months.

i'm going on seven weeks post-interview with no reply yet. hoping to hear back soon, so i can finally figure out where i'm gonna be next year

can anyone tell me what the interview at albert einstein was like??

It's only one interview with a faculty member. My interview was at the Montefiore hospital, which is a short walk from the admission office. There is an informal lunch and tour around noon, but other than that the day is rather unstructured. I chose to sit in on a few second year classes. Good luck!

I'm only on week 3. I'm really hoping to hear by mid-April, mostly because an acceptance here would be an excellent birthday present! I understand, the worst part is not knowing for next year.

can anyone current students comment on big the closets are? big enough for stackable drawers?

Hey guys, you might have seen the link to second year skit night. Well first year skit night blew theirs away if you wanna check out any of the videos from it. Particularly pay attention to "The Interview", "Gunner and I know it" and Call Me, Maybe" to know the ridiculousness you're getting yourself into. Good luck to everyone still waiting with their fingers crossed!

Hey, I also do the tours for interviewees and I know Einstein tries to keep it pretty chill for you guys. When you get to the admissions office Mary and the other secretaries you've probably been emailing will be there with a huge smile and tons of snacks, water bottles, coffee and breakfast bars to get you through the morning/day. They also have a changing room if you're just getting in from a bus/train/plane that morning. Then you'll have an interview with a faculty member (either in one of the buildings on campus or you'll take a shuttle to Montefiore). Then (or before that) you'll have a lunch with some students, check out some buildings/apartments with them (no Anatomy), and that's it. No presentations (they say there's better and more up-to-date information online and they'd rather you spend more time with students or have the chance to sit in a class if you want), so just do your research on the school before hand if you need.

Depends on which room you're in. Each room has slightly different sized closet for some reason (and the one in the hallway is huge) but there shouldn't be a problem fitting stackable drawers in any of them. I'll double check the dimensions for you though. To be honest though, all the rooms are plenty big enough to keep the drawers out of your closet.

I'm not a current student but I stayed with one during my interview. The closets were decent sized, though not walk in of course. I'm assuming you mean those stackable plastic drawers, and I'd say if we're also assuming we're both thinking of the same size drawers, which is improbable I'd say yes lol.

Do any current students know, from experience or hearsay, whether there is any waiting list movement prior to May 15th? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I'd also like to know. Any insights please?
