Finally rejected via email today preinterview. They took their sweet time.
can any current students explain a little about the required research project? when do students typically complete this? what sort of time commitment tends to be required?
also, is there some sort of advising system in place?
thanks!
Cool, is this possible for waitlisted applicants too? I read somewhere that it's sometimes helpful to ask for another visit to the school to talk to students and have more detailed reasons for one's interest, etc.
Lincoln 5, thanks so much for the link! Do you know if there's a public website for the course syllabi for the first year as well?
sorry, what does May 15 signify?
Hi all, I just got an interview for Albert Einstein (scheduled April 30th). What are people's thoughts on this late of an interview? Am I basically just interviewing for a waitlist position and have no chance?
I do believe this would be for an actually spot. However, I would call and ask the admissions office. They are very nice there and I'm sure they will give you an honest answer.Hi all, I just got an interview for Albert Einstein (scheduled April 30th). It depends on what time your interview is at. Mine was at like 10 or 10:30 and I was done by 2. Some people in my group had interviews after lunch so they were done a little later. What time does the interview day end if you stay for lunch and the tour?
Okay, thanks! Mine's at 10:15 so it would probably be around the same.It depends on what time your interview is at. Mine was at like 10 or 10:30 and I was done by 2. Some people in my group had interviews after lunch so they were done a little later.
Just placed on the high priority waitlist. Interviewed on 3/16
How did you find out? Email?
Is anyone able to speak more about the student housing at Einstein? I never got to see the dorms because I had to run off to my interview, so I suspect I missed out on a lot of the housing info. I see photos online and hear people talk about affordable housing here, but I don't have a clear picture of how much it costs, what is included and having roommates.
So, online, I see studios, 1BR and 2BR. How much do students pay for these? Does it include utilities? Does it come with a stove and fridge? I've also read on these forums that people share studios and 1BR's with roommates, and 2BR can actually accommodate 3 people. How does this work? Does a single person rent the entire apartment and can then "sublease" it out to other students?
And when/how do we apply for housing?
This is all part of my cost calculation to see if I can afford Einstein.
can any current students give an account to what the exam schedules for first years are like (generally speaking)? i know some schools like to spread out the exams, making it so it's once a week, while others aggregate at the end of the month.
I heard back on Wednesday and got high priority wait-listed! I have high hopes!!
Einstein has converted/is in the process of converting 1 BR --> 2 and 2 BR --> 3 by closing off the living room and making it a second or third bedroom. So, there are studios, "2", and "3" bedroom apartments, despite Einstein not calling them that. A spot in a 3 BR is around $400 a month, a 2BR I think is $460, and a studio around $600 (I'm not sure on those last two figures) and all utilities are included. Each apartment does come with a stove and fridge.
Einstein will contact you about housing. It's considered "on campus" and it's guaranteed all four years, so it's all a part of the pre-matriculation paperwork that will come in a month or two. Only Einstein students (and their families, if married) live in the apartments, and it's a nice, safe, cheap, convenient living situation. 90% of students live on campus. The rest mostly live in Manhattan (due to previously living there and not wanting to move).
Thank you. That clarifies so much about the housing. So, I take it that the Einstein estimate for housing at $9000/year in the finaid letter is much higher than what people tend to pay. Anything else being overstated? I'm trying to get a realistic estimate for what this will cost me and compare it with realistic estimates from other schools. I take it that few people own a car as well. I've lived in the city my entire life and have never owned a car.
Hmm, I interviewed on the 26th of March. Just got placed on the regular Wait-List, which I assume is probably not the best place to be.
how does move-in work? is there somewhere to park a u-haul or something like that? big elevators for furniture?
also, any idea when we will be able to move in? I'm planning on doing the summer biochem that starts July 30th, so is it safe to assume we'll be able to move in that weekend before?
hey has anyone actually been accepted since January?
Ive been wondering the same thing all Ive been seeing are waitlistings and rejections😕![]()
I think they filled (and then some) in January. Essentially, I think many of the high priority waitlisted people would have been accepted had they applied and/or interviewed earlier.
What's even funnier is how they are interviewing so late 😕
