Did anyone else get a "UCSD Electronic Billing Notice" by email yesterday? I got an automated email from their online system containing this:

"Your monthly Billing Statement for account AXXXXXXXX is now available for
viewing and payment."

I submitted my secondary in November and I got confirmation that I paid my secondary fee. When I logged in, etc, it showed I had a $0 balance. Since I haven't gotten an II or been put on hold for interview, I'm hoping this might mean an II is coming my way soon? Maybe I'm just grasping at straws 🙂
 
I've been complete since August and been placed on hold. I'm pretty sure the chances of me getting an II is a lot lower.

Congrats! That's so exciting. Best of luck on your interview. I'm remaining cautiously optimistic about an interview...
 
I have had no status update since my secondary was complete mid November. Feeling desperate - I called admissions office and they told me that there should be a decision made by the end of next week regarding my application. She said my application was in a kind of "holding pattern" even though I am not "on hold" status. Yikes. Just wanted to send an update to those in a similar situation. Here's to hoping!!

Forgot to post this, but I saw a great tip on here that I think is worth sharing again for those few who have still to interview here. For those flying in, a taxi from SD airport to campus is about $45. Shuttle is like $30. The best way to go is to taxi to the hillcrest medical center for $16, then take the free shuttle from hillcrest to the SD med center. This was perfect for me because I booked my hotel at the marriott residence in which was like .5 miles from campus.
Then on the way back, chat up your fellow interviewees and split a cab to the airport to save even more cash! You'll also sound like a genius when you're able to help them out too.
 
1/31 interview
Rejected post interview today 8-9am

1 week wait for a rejection = quick and painless (almost)

UCSD has their admissions process down. The people I interviewed with sparked interesting conversation and showed that they seriously studied your app.

I am in the same boat, my secondary was complete 10/17 and I have not heard anything since, hoping for an interview soon.
 
with the curriculum overhaul, should I be worried about how prepared I will be for the board exams? also does anyone know the average board scores for students at this school (the more recent, the better!)? thanks in advance!

Do you blame poor mcat scores on the school the student attended? I seriously doubt any US med school won't prepare you near equivalently for step I. You gotta put the work in yourself. Their curriculum seems similar to a lot of schools on block scheduling. And why would board scores for the old curriculum ease your fears?

ah i completely forgot that the new curriculum was implemented in 2010, meaning they don't have scores for the students under the new curriculum. also of course i know one's effort and work ethic comes into play regarding how well one does... thanks for your answer.

It sounds like the admissions folks have told different people different time frames for when decisions will be made on applicants pre-interview (those with "hold" status and those not officially on hold). I was told end of next week but who knows when we'll find out. I'm trying not to lose hope...

Have people who are on hold/or not officially on hold sent in letters of intent? Or is that something one should do after the interview (if one is so lucky to receive II)?

I obsessed over the same issues for a while, it is easy for us to over analyze. Rest assured, I am sure you will be prepared more than enough for step I, it is just a matter of keeping it all in your brain!
 
REJECTED...UGH I hate USC...until I'm applying for residencies then I have to love them again. but right now they suck.

Haha, I got that same email too this morning.
 
I thought so but then I saw a couple of people posted about calling the office and that they mentioned they would know by the end of this week...maybe that was just for people who are not "officially" on hold but on the hold-like pattern???
 
I'm in the "hold pattern" (not technically on hold but haven't heard anything since being complete) and when I called this week, they send end of NEXT week. That is, Feb. 17th.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if it came out on Friday of this week or early next.

the letter actually said they'd make final decisions by today. it didn't say that WE would be notified by today however. :\

since no one here on hold has received any updates, i'm guessing they'll give all decisions (invites or otherwise) all at once tomorrow or friday (hopefully!)

yeah. although with ~500 people on hold i guess the slim chance for an II isn't something i'll be working myself up for. but good luck to everyone! :xf:

Well I just called and the lady said for those waiting to hear back post secondary
That we should hear something by next weeeeeeek
 
called Brian and he said those expecting news post-interview this week that it wont be until after Feb 27th when they meet for UCSD PRIME applicants. He didnt give me anymore details beyond that. Some were told we would hear news by the 28th

You definitely deserve it given ur high numbers. Theyve given several interviews to people with verbal scores below 10, which is surprising given than ucsd is a respected medical school

Congrats to you getting an invite, you definitely deserve it. For the rest of us still waiting, do you guys think the office has already sent out all of the invites yesterday from their on-hold list?...since not everyone posts on SDN regarding interview invites. I really hope waiting for next week is not just for rejection e-mails.
