My flight was cancelled, and still no update even after 4:30pm so I am going to email them about rescheduling my MSTP interview. Btw, are they rolling or no?
"On Wednesday, October 31, Einstein will be open and operational — with the exception of the Mazer building, which is without power due to a Con Edison outage. Offices in Mazer will be accessible using the stairwells, so those individuals wishing to access their office may do so. However, offices have no power. In addition, the freezers in Mazer are working, thanks to generators providing backup power."

From the AE site.

I think it's still on. I don't know 100% because I haven't received an email.

Since my flight was cancelled and i need to reschedule my interview, would this hurt my chances interviewing later? Just worrying a little bit.

I don't know. This was my concern as well, which is why I am so adamant about not cancelling. It shouldn't hurt you too much since they might re-schedule for a not so distant date. I am just afraid of interviewing in January/February. I read the posts about rolling admissions on SDN etc., but I don't know if this applies to MSTP. I thought that they met every month to go over candidates, but I may be wrong. I just assume that they have less months to go over our apps for acceptance if done at a later date or perhaps less spots available since they must fill up most spots by then. I am not sure.

I had an interview this Monday and many cancelled, they gave the option to reschedule in February and this is rolling admissions. They said they would try to be as fair as possible, but I imagine they are at a slight disadvantage.

My original interview was Oct 29th (this past Monday). After getting the email about the cancellation last Thursday (Oct 25th), I called in right away. They asked for dates in December so I quickly scheduled a Dec.3 (the earliest possible date available) interview. I hope this was meant to be...It's better than interviewing next year.

I rescheduled my MSTP interview. They were really nice, understanding and said would affect the admissions process. I was (and still am) really excited about it! But getting to this school before the new year, though in December.

My interview is next Wednesday. I called and asked if it was cancelled, and they said call again next week because there may be another storm coming?

Just finished my MSTP interview today at AE...... AWESOME!:soexcited:

I've submitted my application almost as soon as we were permitted to submit, and I haven't received an II nor a rejection. Does anybody know whether i should just abandon hope for this school?

and finally, they don't accept updates unless you're invited for an interview right?

I called a few weeks ago and I was told they are receptive to updates. I just emailed the admissions email directly with a pdf attachment.

Impressions? What should I expect come December for MSTP?

The interview went really well. I thought that it was very relaxed, no major set backs in that aspect. The two day soire :hardy:was well organized (even amidst the storm aftermath), the students were very conversational, and they may possibly have one of the most flexible MSTP programs (as far as MD/Graduate coursework). The director is pretty cool too 😎

I was completed at the start of Aug still nothing... anyone else in this boat or is this a rejection coming?

^ Yeah sorta, complete since the middle of August and not heard anything back. They give out 1,357 interviews I think it said in their viewbook so I'm staying put, but they have filled up interview slots through February?

Same 🙁

I wonder if a LOI would help.

Hi guys!

I'll be interviewing in February and I have an afternoon interview at 2pm. For those of you who've interviewed, would I be able to catch a flight at 6pm?

I think your day will be done right after your interview. From what I remember you'll be going on the same lunch/tour as the morning interview people. They have their interview before the lunch/tour, and you have your interview after. My interview was around half an hour so maybe you'll be doen at 2:30-3? That leaves more than enough time to get back to JFK or LaGuardia.

Does Einstein have a student host program? If so, how do you get your student host?

Yes, they do. I don't remember the exact details, but contact the office of admissions and they can help get you set up.

You email admission saying that you need a host. They will email the students and a student will respond that they will be able to do it. They wil then send you the student's contact information! You and the student get in contact. At least this is how they did it last year!

Good luck!

Woah, interview slots have been filled up all the way to February??? Is that essentially interviewing for a waitlist? =/

I received my invitation in mid Oct and it was starting on Feb. 5, so I can imagine by now it might be a little longer.

Many people, including students at the school, have stated that Einstein doesn't interview for waitlist, and they have provided anecdotes about people who have been accepted that interviewed later on in the cycle.

Any insight when decisions might start coming out?

At the interview they said the 1st round of acceptances would come out some time in January.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They said some might come out late December during my interview. Fingers crossed for an awesome Christmas present!

I received my acceptance at the end of December, that was the first batch they sent out.
The official response from the admission office usually is that first acceptances go out early January

For those interviewing in December, when should we expect to hear back?

I want to cry! I just checked my einstein application since I hadn't received a complete email and I saw that I still had to certify my application! I just did it now. I am late as it is and now I really think I blew my chances.:cry::cry:

Certifying app...? you mean the last step of the secondary?

Ouch! I am so sorry. Hopefully Einstein isn't a high priority school for you. :lame:

yes, I don't know how I missed that ( kicking self.) It is definitely a top choice for me. Can anyone tell me whether being complete now is a definite no.

I mean it's not beneficial, but at least you're complete? Not much you can do at this point.

Einstein interviews until April! You still have a chance!

Yep we have a few!

Nice! The reason I ask is because last year, there was NO ONE on premed101 that applied to Einstein and got in .... Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I really hope they don't silent reject 🙁

Canadian here as well... I heard the reason that they are taking so long for international students is because they need time to confirm our passport information. I don't know if this is true though

Not too sure about this. I interviewed the very first day (9/14) and there was a Canadian student in my interview group.

He/she was probably completed early. I'm only speculating that it takes longer to process an international student's application, because I was completed in early September. There could be many other reasons for the long wait. But whatever the case may be, there's nothing else I can do besides waiting. I just hope that Einstein will show some love to Canadians :xf: :xf:

Fellow Canadian from premed101 who also completed in early September, but yet to hear any news from Einstein. The school doesn't seem to accept many internationals from the pool that they interview. Nonetheless, I would love to attend here, seeing that both NYU and Sinai aren't looking very promising (also complete in early September and no news yet).

So true, and this is why you don't see anyone on premed101 getting accepted to Einstein despite having great scores. But according to MSAR, they do seem to give a decent amount of interviews to international students (1/10), which is pretty much the same ratio as every other medical school that accepts Canadians. So maybe we will at least get a chance to interview here :luck:

Some schools accept half of international interviewees, because they regard them the same as any other applicant. Other schools accept 10% of international interviewees, and most of the successful international applicants have done undergrad at a top 20 undergrad in the US. Einstein seems to be the latter... unfortunately.
