Hi everyone,

I am a Canadian applicant. I received my MCAT score very late and so applied on Sep 29 2012 ! I know it is late but my question is is that too late to ruin all the possible chances ?
My MCAT is 34 and my GPA is 3.8+. I haven't heard from them yet and I really love this school Any idea ? should I just wait longer or should I write a letter of interest?
I have applied to couple of schools and haven't heard anything from them yet except a small pool letter from Wisconsin College of Medicine :scared:

My profile is exactly like yours, also a Canadian. I was complete on Sept 1 and I still haven't heard from Einstein.

Relax.

Nychila and I and yourself are the Canadian representatives here😛 (no news for me either, btw)

One more Canadian here with very similar stats, complete early august. Nothing but silence from Einstein.

It's interesting to see so many Canadian peers here. How about other schools ? Have you guys received any interview invite from other schools by the way?

Good luck to all Canadians. Although we'd be fighting for the same spots, I still hope you guys get an II soon haha!

I interviewed at Georgetown, which was awesome, and I'll be at SLU in December. Had a hand full of rejections, couple holds, and a lot of silence. Also applied to 3 Canadian Schools, but they are slow and ubc will be first to send out ii's next week.

Good to hear that. I havent received any II yet. Maybe because I applied so late.

Thank you Golden Apple. I hope all of us can get what we deserve. All of us get enough II !

What is the interview day schedule? I am going to be interviewing in the morning.

I think it goes:
Show up
Sit around until your interview
Faculty Interview
Student lunch
Student tour
Done!

No meeting with financial aid or any deans.

May I ask how long it took for you to hear back from SLU? I was complete on Sept 7 and still no news. I hope they don't silent reject

Just got an Interview Invite today!! Complete on Sept 27th. Also sent a in-the-area email about 2 weeks ago. Not sure if that had anything to do with it...

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to get back to you after you give them a list of potential interview dates?

@srosseel - One hour or so. At least with mine.

Sent from my Dell Streak using SDN Mobile

So I have an interview coming up in January. Where are people staying for there interviews? My wife is coming with me, so staying with a student might not be the best thing for us.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Westin by Grand Central. Any hotel within 1 block of Grand Central is ideal for both of you because you can walk 3-4 blocks to the stop for the Manhattan - Bronx express bus and back, while your wife can walk a block to grand central and pretty much go anywhere she wants from there. It's also a good area and if you decide to make a trip out of it like we did then you'll be conveniently located to a major subway/train hub! It's also pretty walkable to Time Square and a few blocks away from the UN. When I booked my stay at the Westin (early/mid september) they had some HUGE sale because they were under renovation. I'd definitely ask if you could get a price discount if they're available.

If there isn't a sale a cheaper alternative might be the pod hotels. They're quirky, but more affordable if the Westin doesn't have a sale going on and still conveniently located.

Anyone with experience know the most convenient way to get from LaGuardia to Raddison? Raddison to Einstein?
I know the most inconvenient way of getting there is renting a car, getting stuck in traffic and then taking a taxi... all due to hurricane Sandy wrecking havoc during my interview. That is of no help to you, but I just had to vent about it one more time.

Anyway, on the way back to the airport I used a car service, the number and name of the company were given to me by the person that organizes the interview. I'm sure if you call AE and ask for a recommendation of transportation services you will find a good one. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't as expensive as cabbing it. If you can find another student headed to the airport on your way back you can cut your cost significantly.

Good luck! NY transportation is tres expensive !

You guys know when they will send out pre-interview rejection?

does anyone know if albert einstein has multiple groups of adcoms that are making decisions at different paces. one of my classmate got an interview invite and in october and was told to schedule january or later. Some other applicants are getting interview invites much later and are being scheduled for december and early january. thanks

I have no idea but I was invited for an interview in the first week of November and it was scheduled for March. I have no idea how it works here

I think it has more to do with people canceling their interviews and opening up spots.

That makes more sense. I was complete in September for an interview in February. Hopefully it doesn't mean some kind of ranking system?

yea I just got mine and they scheduled me for second week of march, can anyone comment on what this means? Or do you think its just due to cancelations?

I'm pretty sure it is because of cancellation.

Is there any way to check the status of your application through the Secondary website? Or some other site? When I log into my secondary app website all I see is my submission date.

Absolutely loved everything about this school when I interviewed a few days ago. Definitely one of my top choices!

One thing I had a question about was tuition. The quoted number for tuition and fees given to us by the admissions office was about 50k. Do the majority of students pay full price to attend einstein? I know there are some scholarships floating around (service and research), but I was just wondering about the majority of the class.

From MSAR: "About 50% of student receive institutional loans and/or scholarships." The average indebtedness is $128,513. I don't know exactly how recent that is, but that means that a lot of people are paying a lot less than full tuition for 4 years. Disclaimer: this figure may be additionally slanted because many of Einstein's students coming from Stern (Yeshiva University for women) get either full tuition or a large percentage covered by some (wonderful) alumni foundation. Don't know if that helps at all.

Only a handful of students (6-7) from the class are from stern, so that shouldn't affect the statistics very much at all.

As for scholarships, I don't know for sure how much but I do know that a bunch of people did receive some amount of scholarship/grant. Many are not paying full tuition.

Einstein is very generous with money. I don't know the stats of people getting scholarship, but my roommates and I have all been given really good financial aid. Einstein gave me a scholarship. It is a lot less than the numbers that I see on SDN, but anything helps. Also, the quoted Cost of Attendance is way blown over. They calculated rent to be 900 a month, whereas in reality it is more like 400-ish. They also give you a lot of living expense, personal expenses, etc. So you really don't need to take all that money out.

Can any one please let me know if I can check the status of my application online?

Woo hoo! II just now.
3.6/32/OOS/nontrad, complete 8/28

I noticed they didnt offer specific interview dates... Do we just choose dates ourselves?

congratulations, I got my II a month back but they gave me an interview date so I am not sure how you should go about this. Just email them and ask I guess.

Did they send you a list of possible interview dates? I just got my II the other day too, and there was no list...
Are we just supposed to choose our own day?
PM me if you found something online that I may have missed.

Looks like they're re-reviewing applications now since August people are getting invited.
