I'm curious, what does everyone's application status say?

Mine currently says "Your file is complete and will be reviewed"

I am nearly certain the status said something different a few days ago...

FWIW my application was complete 8/31

Mine is saying that now too. I guess we're finally being looked at?

Any ideas for what to answer for the "Why Drexel?" question? I know the standard stuff about Drexel through their website, but after researching so many schools for interviews, they all tend to blend together. Anything about Drexel that makes it special?

I interviewed here recently and had a positive experience so I thought I'd chime in.

Overall, the interview day is very relaxed and it's very apparent that the sole purpose is to meet you face-to-face, not necessarily to sell you the school. My faculty interview (30-40 minutes) was very relaxed and my interviewer was definitely very cool! I didn't have to leave the main medical campus, though others had to take a 20 minute shuttle to center city. The student interview was also very relaxed and lasted maybe 40 minutes--it was part of a lunch and is meant to be very conversational (two way!).

I went in knowing nothing about Drexel other than what I could read about online, and I have to say that I'm very impressed with the campus. I'm very interested in the PIL curriculum and I was glad to hear that there's a little preview during orientation so you can decide during the first week of classes which method is best for you. The facilities are new and nice, and the students generally seem very relaxed and down-to-earth. From my interactions with faculty, everyone cares about their students succeeding and they provide tons of student support!

The school itself is sort of in suburbia, but definitely has some New England charm.

As a warning, if you're expecting a school to sell itself to you, this interview may not be worth your time. On the other hand, if you're excited about Drexel, genuinely, and can't wait to let the school get to know you, you should have a great time!

Good luck everyone! :luck:

When interviewers ask you that question they just want to know what you like about Drexel. It doesn't necessarily have to be only things that are unique about Drexel (or any other school).

Exactly this. I wasn't ripped apart about this question. Actually, I only had time to talk about the diversity of clinical sites and PIL before we started talking about something completely different. Don't worry too much.

How many of those interviewed are accepted? The numbers on the website aren't too encouraging...

Also, does anyone know what dates are the earliest dates available for interviewing at this point?

They accept half (~625) of all interviewees. So don't be discouraged by the disproportionate number of interviewed students and the ones that actually matriculate.

That sounds better. I think I must have confused matriculations and acceptances.

I recommend you do not stay at the moving arts bed and breakfast. There is no breakfast provided. My bathroom had not been cleaned since the previous guest left, and there was no lock on my door. Also there's nothing to eat within walking distance after 8pm.

Thank god for SDN: Thanks MedPR. Sorry you had to deal with that, though. I feel you on the eating after 8p, too. :-(

Oh...I'm staying there tomorrow night. How did you get there from the airport? Did you use their car service? And how did you get the school to the airport?

I used the septa (train) to get to and from the airport. There are stops just down the street from the b&b and the school. It cost me $17 total whereas the lady will charge you $80 total.. her car smells awful too so that would be a terrible ride. Shes also very strange and I think a bit racist. She used the term "urban" to describe the black part of town.

That doesn't sound racist. Definitely less racist than saying "this is where blacks live."

The tone doesn't come through on paper.

Also she's friendly, but I personally don't like to talk to people the day before or morning of my interview.

Give me a key, tell me how to get to my room, and then don't say another word until I checkout and never see you again.

So the lady drove you to the b&b? Is there a way to use public transportation to get to the b&b? How did you know if the car smelled bad if you didn't ride in it? Or did you? 😕

Hey, how did you get from the airport to the b&b using public transportation? Can you give me general directions? Google maps says it will take 2+ hours. Is that right?

AMCAS verified on 9/6...still waiting for a secondary app. Anybody else in the same boat?

Hey I was actually verified on the 5th and received the secondary on 9/17. Not sure why they haven't sent you one yet...

lol i think he/she JUST received the secondary.

i got an II about 2 weeks ago and there was a ton of availability in NOvember, even late October dates too.

Haha yea I was referring to receiving the secondary, not an II.. Even though an II would be nice!!

A lot can happen in 2 weeks as far as II bookings!

Depends on the train schedule, but yeah it took me about 2.5 hours. Only took me an hour and 15 minutes to get from Drexel to the airport though.

From the airport get on the train towards Center City. There's only one train so don't worry about having to find the right one. Then get off at 30th street station. Read the signs (or ask an information desk) to find the track number for the "Chestnut Hill West" train. Get on that train and then get off at the "Carpenter" stop. From there you are a few minutes walk away from thee b&b.

Received secondary 9/28, submitted 10/1 and received complete email 10/2. Hope that's a good sign!

i was verified 8/22 and have received no secondary yet. i called and they said they sent one on 9/5 lol. i didn't have it in my junk mail...

i have to wait for the next batch to be sent out.

On a totally unrelated note, I chuckle every time I see your handle.

I stayed at moving arts b&b, and I had a generally good experience. The owner is very informative and friendly, she offers you juice and many good advice. I had her pick me up from the Amtrak station in Philly and she gave me and another interviewee a tour of the city and nearby towns. I thought this was nice and relaxing (you don't have to listen to her the whole time) before the interview..

Yes, the place smells bad and her car smells bad. But for $75/night for a room and $40/night for the studio and a free ride to and from the interview, I am content.

Smells bad? How so?

Something like smoke? Or are we talking the pungent, desperate smell of a lonely cat lady?

She didn't offer me juice.. or anything really. She took me outside the b&b and pointed to things and that was about it.

The experience would've been better if the following things had happened.
1. My room was ready when I arrived.
2. My bathroom was cleaned.
3. My door had a lock.
4. There was food within walking distance after 8pm.
5. The ironing board wasn't filthy and miniature sized.
6. The WiFi actually worked (thank god for 4G).
7. The house wasn't 80degrees.
8. I had more than 1 pillow.
9. There was actually breakfast provided as indicated on the Drexel housing list.
10. Her car didn't smell like ass.
11. She didn't almost make me late because she had to pick up someone from her other b&b and take them to the train station.

Smelled like BO to me.

Still at "your file is complete and will be reviewed".... complete on 8/17. I sent them an email to see if my file has even been looked at... no response yet.

Hi everyone! Quick question: I am interviewing this coming week and staying with a friend about 15 mins away from campus. Is there parking available on campus, or should I find some other way to get there? Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

You can also take the SEPTA, which is what I'm planning to do, as I'll be coming from the UPenn area. I'll see ya there if you're doing the Monday interview. 🙂

oh, awesome! is there usually plently of space? sorry- just don't want to get there and be screwed for parking haha.

When was the first available interview date at the point you were offered the II?

Not exactly sure the precise date. There were many left in Dec Jan and feb. I took 11/29 but I believe the earliest one I could've taken would have been the Tuesday so around 11/26. Lots of Friday's available and Tuesdays. 26th/29th were the only days left in Nov, though.

For anyone who still has a couple of weeks until their interview, you should try to find a student host. The girls I stayed with were extremely helpful (in terms of answering my questions) and walked me to the admissions office in the morning. I've been trying to set up student hosts at every school I'm interviewing at just because it gives me another chance to ask students about the school and I also save some $$!

"your application is complete and will be reviewed" Enough with the lies Drexel! Jk but srsly its been like 6 weeks since I've had this status

Anyone have their decision status change yet? I'm probably being impatient, but I interviewed last week and nothing has changed yet on my status page.
