As far as I believe if you were verified by AMCAS and had submitted a primary to HUCM then you received an automatic secondary invite. In my case, I called up the school and they sent me one because I was anxious after my primary had been verified for only two days. Perhaps they changed the screening process?
 
Idk. I got it yesterday though and on top of that my fee was waived! I thought they didn't waive fees? Not complaining one bit though!
 
I think they sent new ones out because they got the electronic version working. I had started to think maybe they do screen but I think they just wanted to wait until they could send the new form rather than receiving more paper applications.

Could be. It really would be nice if they had more call hours. I really have a lot of questions for them!
 
Also, the holidays are near, so things might be going some slow. but I hope that we will be hearing some interview invites for the people on this thread soon. not sure if they will send any more interview invites in December, but maybe in the beginning of January. keep up that hope!
 
I was interviewed on early November. Anyone who was interviewed at Howard got acceptance? 15th of the month is coming up...
 
I interviewed in November as well. I haven't heard anything back as of yet. Hopefully we hear something this week 🙂
 
Accepted!!! I interviewed 10/16 and just called in for my decision after an email prompt 🙂 🙂

Thanks everyone! I still get tears in my eyes when I remember Ms. Walk's interview day presentation on health disparities and working for the underserved.

And getting to sit in on a class was an amazing experience. The professor was cracking jokes the entire time, students laughing, everyone we met was soooo happy! Not the latent doom and gloom you may see at other med schools lol.

I hope everyone on this thread gets in. :luck:

I got the email that the decisions are out...to scared to call in, lol...so I'm patiently waiting for the letter!

Ms. Walk also led the open-house day presentation which I attended in October and seeing the stress Howard put towards working in underserved communities is admirable. You know this school is for you when you see the people, staff, and students around you working hard for the betterment of others.

I hope we all get in as well!

Anyone who was interviewed on November got accepted? I didn't get any email since the interview. It's already been 1.5months..
 
I got accepted!!! Made the call last night! I interviewed Oct. 20th.

I've been complete since about late September and I haven't heard anything yet. I'm in it for the long haul. I hope to have updates to send them in Feb.

Hey! I'm also in the same situation. I have been complete since November 6th and I haven't heard anything. I'm really hoping that the new year brings some good news. Congrats to everyone who has interviewed and gotten in, this must be an aaamazing start to the new year and to those that haven't heard anything LETS KEEP ON PRAYING! 🙂 🙂 🙂
 
Accepted!!!! Interviewed October 10th....Loved the school...I was very attracted to historic pictures of the older graduates! I could sit and look at the people who graduated from the 1920's 30's 40s and 50s all day long. Knowing that I have the option to join this legacy of physicians is unprecedented!!!!!!!!🙂
 
has anyone else had trouble entering their grades into the secondary it keeps deleting my grades even though i saved them.

can someone help me out.

i am entering them as biol 1100 1101 semester 4.0(combined) AA is this incorrect entry and did this happen to anyone else?

I submitted mines on paper. I think they recently switched to online. Are you putting 2 courses on the same line as indicated in your question? 1100 should be on a different line from 1101 because it is a different semester. Sorry, I cannot provide more assistance. Maybe others who recently tackled the secondaries can help you.

I have not. But iirc Ms. Walk said the deadline to respond/pay deposit would be one month from the date you called her for the decision (not when you get the mail). My one month is up on 1/17 so will call them if I don't have it by 1/7.
 
Hello Everyone,

I submitted an online application for the secondary on Dec 11. When I login to check my status, it says that I don't have my references despite the fact that my letters are already submitted to AMCAS. Is anyone else having this issue?

I have the same issue. I was waiting for the holidays to pass before I called them. I wanted to see if it fixed itself but it may be time to give them a call.

I don't think there would be an open house today. There is a holiday break.

Interview invitations pretty much go anytime during the cycle. The 15th of the month is usually when they tell decisions after the interview. i think the last interviews are until April..
I'm hoping that a bunch of us on here will get those interviews soon..

I have promised myself that if during this very difficult time in my life Howard grants me the opportunity to become a physician, I will dedicate my whole life to HUCM and the mission.
I have all rejections so far.
Howard is my number 1 choice and at this point also my only hope.

Well said hsaid. You have good intentions and hopefully you will receive an opportunity to live by your words. Hang in there; hopefully we all can make it.

In the mean time, don't stop volunteering at hospitals to receive that clinical experience, keep the passion alive on WHY med school and becoming a doctor is the perfect fit for you. I try to involve myself in as many volunteer projects as possible because who knows when I will get the time and oppt to do it again (since I am off from school and work full-time). I wish everyone the very best for this year of 2013 🙂
