Wow! I figured they'd be past july completions by now... at least it gives me some hope for an interview

Accepted! I just interviewed last week so I'm surprised they told me already...my status still says interview complete btw so I guess that has no bearing on the waitlist vs. correspondence sent?

what day did you interview?

I received an interview invite here today and I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the expense to fly out from CA, can anyone offer an opinion? I've been lucky enough to have some acceptances already. I'm very attached to one of the schools I've been accepted to (Tulane) and I've also been accepted to Drexel, which from what I can tell is fairly similar to Temple. Even after doing some research, I'm having a hard time forming much of an opinion about Temple, so if any of you have thoughts you'd like to share, I'm all ears.

My 2 cents from being interviewed and accepted here.

The school isn't in the best part of town, so if you interested in serving a population that isn't socioeconomically good, I think this would be a good place. I actually went by drexel (is the med school on the undergrad campus?) and it seemed to be in a much nicer part of town compared to Temple.

Overall I was impressed by Temple and I feel they did a good job of really wanting me to go there. Plus the new medical building was super nice.

Does anyone have any idea how to upload your pic to temple's "send us stuff" area? The email says it takes .jpeg or .gif, but the website says it only takes .doc or .pdf. What did the rest of you do?

Med school is not at the undergrad campus.

I was wondering if anybody that interviewed at St. Luke's on Nov. 6th has heard back from the school? And also, does it usually take longer to find out if you did not interview at the main campus?

Thanks!! 🙂

How far is Temple from PHL? If my flight leaves at 5:45 is that doable?

Consensus seems that no one has written about decisions from st lukes yet. I interviewed there 10/16 no news

I interviewed on 10/11 and still no word. No letter in the mail, nothing. What is taking so long? It's been six weeks.

I interviewed late october at St. Lukes, and they told us we might not hear back till January, so I would imagine the same will go for you.

Wow! You were told that information during the interview day? Well at least it's nice to know that, thanks! I was told during my interview day that it would take from 4-6 weeks. I guess it just depends and we will have to wait lol.

Good luck to you all ! 😀

I interviewed October 9th at St. Lukes. I was told the last Friday of the month we would get back word. I have been biting my nails since.

Google is your friend.
Taking the subway will be faster than driving and much cheaper than a cab. I'd estimate 30-45 minutes via subway if you don't get terribly lost and follow these instructions...

Take the Orange Line at Temple Med, someone will be able to direct you to the nearest subway stop, ask them for the Erie stop -- it's a block up from the interview building, MERB. Take the Orange Line ($2 exact change) going south bound (To South Philadelphia). Try to get on the express train if possible -- but either way you'll be ok. Get off at 15th street and transfer (free) onto the Blue Line (Market-Frankford line), and take it going Westbound, towards 69th street. Get off the Blue Line at 30th street station. At 30th Street Station, ask someone to direct you to Regional Rails. Find Regional Rails and take the Regional Rail train going to the Airport (Airport Line). This will cost you $6.25 if you buy the ticket at the 30th Street Station. It will otherwise cost you $7.00 if you pay for your ticket on the train. The train stops at specific airport terminals, so know which terminal you need to get off at. In my opinion, this is the fastest way of getting from Temple to the Airport. I assume you're not going to have a car since you're asking about the airport. Secondly, a cab will cost you $28.50 (without tip) and you'd have to deal with rush hour (great movie) traffic. If you follow these instructions, it's really straight forward. Although the people in Philly aren't the nicest, someone will likely help. Good Luck on the interview!!!

I just had a silly question for those of you who have been accepted already. I was accepted on the 20th and paid my deposit that day. Will I receive an official acceptance letter in the mail and does it have the location of where I will be completing my 3rd and 4th year clerkships? My status on tmo just says deposit paid. I guess I am little too excited to find out on my own 🙂.

Yes, you will get a letter in the mail after the online status change and email. It will state the location you have been accepted to. "Temple and affiliates" means the main campus in Philly.

My interview's tomorrow, and I'm going to be driving in. Any advice regarding the closest and/or cheapest parking around? Thanks in advance!

There's a parking garage across the street. I think it's ten dollars?

The hospital parking lot is directly across Broad Street from MERB. That's where I parked when I interviewed. I definitely didn't want to park on a side-street, and they watch the meters like hawks around the school.

Sorry to ask this again, but did anyone else have trouble uploading a picture of them onto the secondary site? I tried uploading a .jpeg like the email told us too, but I got an error message saying they only take .doc and .pdf files

I don't know if you've already made this decision, but I would say Drexel and temple are SUPER different. Drexel med campus isn't really in the city, it's in Queen Lane which is about 15-20 minutes of highway driving from Center City. Also, from interviewing at both, I found the students at temple to be HAPPY - this is something huge I look for in a school, while the (few) students I met at Drexel seemed absolutely miserable. All that being said, their curriculums are TOTALLY different.

I don't know as much about Tulane (withdrawing my interview invite there, actually), but if you really loved it I'm sure you'd be happy there. I think temple is slightly "better" than Tulane by the rankings (however much stock you want to put on that). What did you like so much at Tulane? I'm interested because I haven't withdrawn yet, and have never been to NoLa so I'd like to make an informed decision!

In regards to 1, what are you basing this on.

In regards to 2, you messin' up son. Get yo self down to N'orleans and spend some time in the French Quarter...

Temple is way different than drexel. Temple is very inner-city (mentioned already), so if you want to learn treating inner-city patients, then Temple would be a good choice. Also, working in a hospital like this is a lot more like working "in the trenches" with a probably higher patient/doctor ratio (nothing against Temple as a school obviously, but this is just the nature of areas such as North Philly). Take that how you will, but I personally think it makes for a much better training experience.

Excellent points, but I feel that it is important to add that this description is more accurate for those that apply for the main campus (and affiliates). One great thing that I've seen about Temple is that the clinical campus options are nicely varied so the school itself offers training in many environments. For example, while the main campus is in a rough inner city area, St. Luke's (where I hope to get in) and Geisinger are in much quieter areas. Each has its pros and cons so I think it's great that Temple provides that option.

anyone receive any interviews lately? when were you complete and what were your stats?

Wait list letter in the mail...

And I really liked this school too. 🙁

How responsiveness is Temple to update letters?

Does anybody know if temple's waitlist is ranked? If so do they tell each person their rank if asked?

Does anyone remember how long after interviews they answer? I know it was in the packet we got that day but idr

Anyone hear back yet that interviewed at St. Lukes in October?

So Temple accepted me to a clinical campus that is not my first choice. They mention in the mail that they will do their best to accept me at my first choice (main Temple Hospital). Does anybody know anything about that? Is there a chance of getting in at my first choice anymore? should I contact them?

Anyone who applied to Geisinger heard back about an interview invite?

Got an II in my email, but when I log into my account it still says "Under Review." Has anyone else encountered this problem too?

Finally got my waitlist after interviewing in 10/11. Cruel world.

Anyone interviewed 11/13 hear anything yet? I keep checking the portal and it still says 'Interview Complete' and earlier in the thread it seemed acceptances went out ~3 weeks after interview.

Good to know! I'm definitely interested in the kind of high-volume urban training situation that Temple would have. I didn't realize the patient populations were that different, but it seems that they are. Thanks!

If it's not too late, you should DEFINITELY go to your Tulane interview! NOLA is awesome and I was very impressed by the school. I'm not totally sure how to describe this, but at every other interview, I have left the school feeling sort of nervous and ambivalent, but I left Tulane feeling like I had a new crush. And I have never seen such happy med students. Tulane is unranked but I know that, depending on your location, Temple sometimes has a better reputation than Tulane. The med school I work at now definitely favors Tulane over Temple for residency spots, at least in recent years, but I know that's not true everywhere.

I interviewed today, and during the admissions welcome meet and greet thing they mentioned that most everyone is still getting their first choice at this point, so that's odd, or maybe I just heard wrong.
