Hi,

Does U Chicago only conduct interviews on Tuesdays and Thursdays? I am trying to reschedule my interview date and the most convenient date for me is a Wednesday.

I also remember Mondays and a couple Wednesdays being available on my calendar. Their office is very helpful though they may still be closed for the holidays.

Normal interview days are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. There normally aren't interviews on Wednesdays.

Anyone have any idea when they will begin to look at continued applicants in earnest? Or do you guys think it won't be until March when they start seeing where everyone got accepted at?

They said they are always looking at continued applicants but I'm pretty sure things will start to get more exciting for us in March when the non-rolling schools hand out acceptances. The infamous May 15th date will also do wonders for us continued here 😉

Kuntash is right. Continued applicants are regularly reconsidered, but the nature of the process will require some waiting. In the past there have been a few acceptances off of the continued list in the winter/early spring, but most of the action happens in the late spring as people begin making their decisions.

Hey Nick,

I interviewed on the 18th of October and haven't heard a word from the admissions committee since. I know the holidays would naturally delay my hearing back, however I'm now considerably beyond the 6-8 week expected turn around. I know patience is the name of the game, but have still been anxiously anticipating a decision of course and can't stand the silence much longer haha. Your thoughts?

I would send an email to the admissions office and see what the deal is. They likely won't be able to tell you anything too helpful but you never know.

And you're right about the holidays - it's really only been about eight "actual" weeks since your interview, which isn't too long. I waited for more than 10 when I was applying. Stay strong! I know the waiting isn't fun!

I interviewed the week before, on the 11th, and have yet to hear anything. I contacted the admissions office, and several of the files from that time frame had yet to be reviewed, including mine. I imagine that after the next committee meeting, we'll hear something. They were definitely very friendly about it, so you ought to contact them!

Thanks.

In that case, should I send another update letter? I sent one back in early November talking about my continued interest in the school, despite my continued status. I was thinking about sending another one, but I'm thinking that I should hold off until February. What do you guys think?

If you have something substantive to update the office on, I would definitely send it. I'm not sure that a general interest letter would be all that useful now, so if that's the route you're going I would hold off until a little later.

Well, I'm continuing my activities that I described that I was doing in my last update letter, and I guess I could tell what my grades were for the last semester, and what I'm taking this semester, though it's just one class. Along with just generally describing my interest. I think I'll just hold off until February, though.

Good luck!! :luck:

In other news, Pritzker's interview day completely blew me away. I completely felt at home there and the students and admissions staff were super laid back and awesome. 😍

Got the call today!!!!!!! So incredibly excited, wasn't expecting it! Stay strong those of you who are still waiting, good news will come! (I interviewed Oct 30th)

Best call ever today! Congrats to everyone else who got it, and good luck to everyone; I interviewed at the start of November, so definitely don't lose hope!

Congrats as well!

Congratulations to the three other people above who have been accepted to Pritzker! I too received the wonderful call yesterday and I am so excited about this acceptance and this wonderful school!

I was actually just leaving my interview from another school when I got the phone call from Dr. Montag! I told him that he was probably going to give me a heart attack. An acceptance and a very generous scholarship offer are making my decision less difficult by the minute. Still waiting to hear from a few more schools, but Pritzker is definitely at the top of my list right now! So excited about the possibilities waiting in Chicago!

With all these offers going out, does anyone have any idea of how close they are to filling their class? Does Pritzker interview for the waitlist toward the end of the season or is everyone in the running to be accepted outright?

For those who got accepted recently (or today!!) congrats!!! When did y'all interview??

No, there is no interviewing for the waitlist. All interviewed applicants (including those that have been continued) can be accepted from this point on. A formal waitlist isn't formed until after the May 15th decision deadline.

Hey all,

For those of you who got accepted (Congrats!!), was anyone from the "continued" list?

Thanks!

I'm interviewing here next week!! :scared: Any tips from people who have already interviewed??

Also, around how many of the interviewees typically attend the optional breakfast before the interview day???

There is usually a relatively big group at the breakfast when I've seen them meeting. I'd say at least 5 or 6 usually go. Don't feel like you need to go though. If it's interesting or if you want some breakfast, go. You won't be hurt by not going though.

As far as tips, just be yourself. The day should be relaxing and low-stress. We want to learn about you and what's important to you both in your life and your future career. Be familiar with your app and you should do fine.

So excited about Pritzker!! I absolutely loved the school but i also HATE the cold and I can barely handle the Philly winters as it is :/ Can anyone who has/does live in the area give me an idea of how bad the winters really are?

I'm from Texas (where "winter" hardly actually gets below freezing) and I have managed it fine. It really isn't too terrible. The wind can be harsh, but most days it doesn't seem too bad.

That said, all of the winter season that I have seen has been "light" by native Chicagoan standards so take that with a grain of salt.

The key is layering. You should get some fleece tops, sweatshirts or sweaters (whatever you like to wear) to layer over thinner long sleeved tops. I've heard from people who don't live in areas where it gets really cold that you should buy your winter jacket in Chicago or a similarly cold place - people I know from those areas brought their ski jackets, but that's not quite sufficient. Also if you have a car winter gear for that is a good windshield scraper and possibly a shovel to dig out.

I'm from a similar climate and spent significant time in Chicago and that is my advice. It's really not so bad once you acclimate yourself to it and if you bundle up appropriately (scarves, gloves, hat, etc).

Definitely what Nick and LawtoMed said. Also, though, I'd definitely be sure to go somewhere where you're sure you can keep your spirits up - I know for some people it's tough to do that in the winter. That said, Chicago's winter shouldn't be too much different than Philly's winter (maybe just a tad colder on average), so if you can handle that you'll probably be able to handle Chicago's winter too 🙂.

How often does the executive admissions committee meet? Every two weeks or every month? I interviewed in the beginning of December and I looking forward to hearing back!

I believe it's every two weeks. You interviewed at a somewhat bad time because of the holidays, so you'll probably be waiting around 8-10 weeks for a decision (basically two weeks longer than the normal time frame). Stay strong!

It's been just about three months since I interviewed (Oct. 18) and I still haven't received any kind of update to my file. Should I call? Someone assuage my neurosis, please.

Continued Question:

I'm told we are allowed to update with letters of recommendation, but the secondary portal says the deadline has passed. Does this deadline apply to continued candidates? If it doesn't, what's the best way to send them in? Thanks Pritzker.

I would call, but you likely won't get any useful information unfortunately.
