Has anyone that interviewed during the week of January 14th heard back yet? I check my mailbox everyday and I am starting to get anxious. I tried contacting admissions but it goes straight to voicemail. Mrah.

I interviewed Jan 14, am OOS, and haven't heard back yet either. Are you OOS? They told my group we'd hear from them the second or third week of Feb, and also that they were backed up on reviewing interviewed applicants, as of Jan 14.

I am technically in-state now, but as of my AMCAS submission I was considered out of state. I have since changed my residency status with the AAMC, but I am kind of nervous that I was considered OOS at the time of our review.
I might be mixing up what was said, but I thought she said if we have not heard by the 15th to call? Make sure if you get anything to post on here as I am sure you will! Good luck, fingers crossed!

I got an acceptance letter today! I live in Kansas City, though, the letter is dated February 18

Did anyone receive an email from Jason Edwards regarding the Wichita campus visit today? I live in California and have not heard back yet from my interview 1/14. The email said to look for another email by the end of the month that will contain your KUMC Novell userID, etc. Was this sent to anyone else that has not heard or been put on hold? I would like to think this was only sent to people that have been accepted maybe? Probably a neurotic question but the suspense is killing me!

Interviewed the 14th. Got "on hold" letter today. Another month or so of waiting

0/10

I'm on hold and got no such email. You're probably in. Maybe the acceptance is snail mail..?

I got the same email but no letter. And we have a snowstorm here in Wichita. Waiting for official word tomorrow, hopefully!

For those who have been accepted, there is a Facebook Group for the class of 2017 if you're interested!

I got the "on hold" letter as well. I wonder what the chances are of getting in come March. Nail biter!

I think everyone who has been accepted received those emails (myself included). Going out on a limb, you two probably were accepted if you're receiving that email. Congratulations!

I sure hope so! Thanks for the encouragement....my mailman is getting sick of me staring him down with a look of despair everyday when he drives up haha

UPDATE: Finally got my acceptance letter today and could not be more happy! Congrats to everyone else! Good luck to everyone else that is waiting...it will happen soon!

Cool, sounds like you're celebrating based on the email 🙂. I got my "on hold" letter today, so time will tell. Congrats to everyone accepted, best wishes to everyone else.

Does anyone know of people receiving merit based scholarships through the scholarship application as a prospective M1?

Congrats to those accepted! And good luck to everyone waiting!

From c/o 2016

When does everyone find out if they are on-hold? Is it delayed because of campus being closed or is this thread just really quiet?

I am crossing my fingers for everyone...good luck!!!

About a week or so from now. Us "on-hold" peeps should be getting a more definite verdict, i.e., accepted, rejected, or waitlisted.

Thanks for the good will. Alternating between optimism and pessimism right now.

I'm so nervous--this is by far and away my top choice and I want to go here sooooooooooooooo badly. . Good luck guys. :luck:

I would prefer KC but I would be happy at any campus really. I'm extremely fortunate enough to have another acceptance but would give anything to come back to Kansas!!

In aiming for Salina, myself. But not gonna get my hopes up since there're only 8 seats. As you said, I'd really be happy on any of the campuses. Worst case scenario, I'll be states away.

This is mainly for future KU applicants (because I know I checked the old threads during the app process to get an idea about the #s) but as of now there are 80 members in the Facebook group. Obviously not everyone has Facebook, but I figured this would be a good figure to include before the on-holds are admitted Friday. If you take out the EDP applicants it can give you an idea about how many people are accepted outright and also how many people come from the on-hold status. With that being said:

80 people accepted so far with a generous estimate of twenty people without Facebook/not in the group means 100 accepted outright.

100 - 42 EDP (from 2012 msar data) - 11 early assurance = 47 outright acceptances for regular decision

And over 100+ spots in the class still remain. Seems like pretty good odds for the on-holds. Good luck everyone!!

If this is true, you made my day better 🙂

Those kind of odds sound amazing! Though I am a little wary because like you mentioned, people may not have facebook or may be holding multiple acceptances and haven't joined the group yet, etc etc.

I tried researching old threads to mine for some info about the chances from the hold list but had little success. Any idea what fraction of interviewees they put on hold? Are there post-interview rejections or are people just accepted or put on hold? Sorry for the noob questions, but it's all I can think about!

At ku 85.7% of people accepted matriculate, which is the highest rate in the country so that is why I put so much faith in the Facebook numbers.....and in the class of 2016 group and older it appears that almost everyone in the class belongs to the group (180+). But the numbers are in no way accurate.

I have no idea of the exact breakdown, that's what I am trying to figure out. Post interview they either accept, reject, or put you on hold. Then on March 22 (a week delayed this year because of snow) they tell the on hold people if they are accepted, rejected, or on the wait list.

~500-600 interviewed. ~33% rejected post interview. Very conservative number accepted post interview. I think I read that about 40 make it in edp. The rest get put on hold. Discard the 40 seats and assume 500 remaining interviews. 220-40 = 180 seats; 500*0.67 = 335 people not rejected (on-hold or accepted); 180/335 = my very very rough estimate of odds of getting in assuming not directly post interview rejected = 53.7%

Freak out mode here. Just gotta wait and hope my interview didn't suck as bad as I thought it did.

hang in there! haha, I'm freaking out in a pretty major way too. Thanks for the info about the odds.

IS: 350 interviewed out of 420 = ~83%
Then... ~190 accepted so 55% acceptance rate (but they interviewed more people this year)

OOS: low and too lazy to post.

But how do you know 33% are rejected post interview? There's a wait list, people withdraw, etc.

In the handout entitled, "I've interviewed at KU-SOM...What happens next?", it says, "If your position on the list is below the lower score set by the committee, you will be sent a denial letter at that time. Following each interview block, approximately one-third of interviewees will receive a denial letter."

And forgive the rough estimates. Those numbers were all recalled from the fallible construct of memory.

Did they mention anything about which laptops they decided on at your interviews?

I haven't heard anything but my computer is slowly dying so I need to find out soon!

Has any info been sent out about the deposit procedures? I have turned in the forms that came with the acceptance letter and filled out the scholarship app...I just feel like I should have more stuff to do...or maybe I am overly excited for it to be July already.

An M1 told me that rumor has it that the incoming class will have to buy their own laptop based on certain spec requirements.

Yes. You all will FOR SURE be able to bring your own laptops

Soooo anyone check the mail today? Letters have to be coming soon

I am thinking the news is in the mailbox, but my mail doesn't arrive until around 6pm. Also, have you logged into your MEDS (supplemental) application? My information on that website has been deleted. I was thinking if I was waitlisted, that would be how they would keep me updated... I was wondering if they deleted everyone's information whether they are accepted or rejected?

Mine is still there. I wouldn't think that'd be anything other than a glitch though, but this is nothing more than an an assumption.

I just checked my mail, and there was no letter from KU. Though living in Wichita may have something to do with that. Is there any confirmarion that the letters have indeed been sent?
Hello there, Yes, according to my sources the letter was sent. Now we just have to wait. Perhaps the snow is delaying the process... I know, just what we need hehe! Good Luck Everyone !!!!
