Oh yeah, sorry. It's been a long day.

Its all good! I was just too lazy to look. Plus i've got a really bad cold and had to hold it together all day today for an interview so i'm extra lazy hahaha

Just got my ii, too! 10/8

Sweet! We should all get together the night before and go eat or something. Maybe it will make the interview day a little less stressful to see some familiar faces.

I hope there are still spots left on the 8th when I call them Monday! I have 2 interviews that weekend (4th and 5th) but I really want to hit UNM early!

Yea i'm in the same boat. I have an interview on the 4th. I just didnt care. I would have moved any other interview I had for UNM's first interview date lol

does anyone know where to find UNMs residency match data?

thanks

Nice! I'm probably going to be getting in town a little late the night before, but I'll let you know if that changes.

II 10/24 😀

Good luck you guys! I'm definitely expecting some advice from some of you for my interview! 😉

So is UNM going to follow the aamc rules for deciding acceptances by oct 15 if you interviewed before that date? I would be awesome to only wait a week for a decision.

AAMC traffic rules are actually just recommendations for participating schools. The oct 15 date is when they recommend schools BEGIN notifying applicants of acceptance. Doubt UNM adcom would meet that soon.

Ugh.....dang! I was hoping. Oh well!

Hi everyone, I got a notification of my interview yesterday and I currently have a conflict with my interview day. Does anyone know if it's discouraged to try to change your interview day?

Thanks and good luck to everyone in this stressful process!

IMO, if you cannot work around the other conflict, you should call the admissions office and work out a new date with them. The office staff is really friendly and helpful.

So how did everyone's 10/8 interview go?!

I thought it went pretty good. Had two interviews. First one was....meh. Had a great time at the second one and really clicked with my interviewer. They said they would only pick 2 of us the first time around when they meet in a couple weeks. I found that odd. What was interesting, both interviewers literally asked me the exact same questions...almost in the exact same order.

Hmm that is strange. How many people were at your interview?

It was weird, they had at least two different groups of interviewees interviewing throughout the day. I would say 8 total?

So out of every interview group they plan on accepting at least 2 in the next couple of weeks?

That just seems so strange 😕

Hopefully you are one of the 2!

It was strange! Hahaha they said AT THE MOST they would accept two of us. It seemed like I interviewed with some power house applicants so I probably wont get it but its all good.

I know you got accepted to azcom, as I did. When I compared the schools side by side, its a really tight decision. UNM is larger, obviously, but in terms of aesthetics, AZCOM and UNM are both great. I seemed to get along better with the faculty at AZCOM as they didnt seem so uptight but I liked the med students at UNM more.

First choice is still UNM, simply because its an MD school and tuition is unbelievable. If all else was equal, AZCOM would come out on top.

A friend of mine was in this situation two years ago. He chose AZCOM because of family connections out there. He seems pretty content with his decision, so I think you're in a pretty decent situation.

Rcheech7, did you get your schedule for tomorrow yet? I just called and they told me I have an interview on-camps and one off-campus. Check in is somewhere they told me a map of the campus may be required to find. Thought that was odd.

I sure did. I guess I get to sleep in, I have to be there by 11:15am 😀

They didn't say anything about on-campus/off they just said one is at 3 and the other is at 4; so maybe they are both on-campus.

They said they would be emailing a map later today of how to find the check-in place.

The main reason I would go to UNM over AZCOM (save for tuition) is to stay here in NM and UNM also has a teaching hospital which means less moving and drive times for 3-4th year rotations. But I am really quite happy with AZCOM; and as far as DO goes for me I am done with the application season, I pick AZCOM.

Off campus? I had one off campus at the cancer research center. My interviewer was hands down the coolest guy I've met on the interview trail.

That's good to know. I'll keep ya posted on wherever I get sent to interview.

Lucky rcheech7! My old PI wants me to meet up at 8am, so I'm going to need a nap after my second interview.

I had an interview off-campus at a private clinic across town from UNM but right by my house. It gave me a chance to freshen up ha.

Unfortunately, no. I'm a reapplicant with an upcoming interview. Good luck to everybody.

I see. I hear UNM is notorious for rejecting people on their first application.

So how did everyone's 10/8 interview go?!

Interviews went well. I think I had a similar experience, where the first interviewer was hard to connect with, but I felt completely at home with the second interviewer. That second hour just flew by! Really cool staff and the med students we met were very laid back. Hope I made one of those top one or two spots 😉

Well, sounds like you had a great interview day!!! 😀😀 How was it??

I really did, I just wish that UNM would let everyone know sooner 😉

UNM just really impressed me and I know that I want to go here and would do so without hesitation.

Both of the interviews I had were really laid back and I feel like my interviews went really well, and I really hope that I hear something soon. :xf:

All quiet over here...anxiously waiting to see if the committee actually meets at the end of the month and sends a few of us non-EDP folks some good news.
