Anyone who goes here or previously interviewed who can tell me about the experience of already having a Bachelors going into this school? I realize most students here are in the combined BA/MD program. Thoughts on this?

I know they have it so that if you have a BA you can start your MD in January. Other than that I have no clue what their score distribution is like.

Yep, you can access and complete the secondary whenever you want to, even before your AMCAS is submitted

I believe if you have submitted the secondary application itself along with mailing in the 2 forms on their website then your application is complete to my understanding. What website are you speaking of that says your application is not finished?

They have an online portal you gain access to once your primary is verified. It allows you to fill out both forms electronically and can link you to the secondary. However, everything seems a little bit fragmented at this point, I just want a confirmation 🙁

Could you post a link to the online portal? The email that I was sent did not have one, and then they e-mailed and asked that I do the online e consent form, but I don't have the link o get to it. Thanks.

I am pretty sure the portal is at www.apply.med.umkc.edu and the username is your AMCAS ID number but they assign you a specific password in the email, it isn't the one you create with the "general secondary app".

Although if you are worried I wouldn't freak out too much. I would still call them again later this week, but reading last years thread it seems like a lot of people never got a "complete" confirmation but still ended up with interviews.

I called yesterday and they said that I should be receiving an email with the link to the portal that you are speaking of by the end of the week. But isn't the due date for it all on August 1st? I think it is all technically due by August 1st. But once you are in the portal it is literally just doing the two electronic forms and hitting submit, there aren't any more essays or anything like that.

Once you get access to the portal they will ask you to fill out the "electronic" version of the forms (so I am not sure if we had to mail them in or not, but I did too). Other than that you should be good. I would go ahead and email them at the very least so that they know that is all you are waiting on, that way you can still be on the radar if it ends up being a day late or so. In my experience their admissions office is pretty helpful.

Actually, just re-read that your AMCAS only has to be SUBMITTED by August 1st, not verified. The secondary, however, did need to be complete before the 1st. So it looks like you should be fine!

so weird. when i go into the secondary app, under app status my general university app shows its been received, but under supplemental app, its not showing up, so i cant even submit the secondary.

guess im calling tomorrow

Mine were like that for a while, but they showed up eventually. As long as AMCAS has them you should be good.

Did you do the secondary yet? You can do it before your primary and only it (the secondary) was due by August 1st. The primary only had to be submitted (not verified) by the first, so if you have done the secondary you are probably good. You could always email them?

I would definitely call then and ask, explain your circumstances and they may make an exception. Never hurts to try!

I'm curious how many applicants UMKC gets for the MD only program and also how many spots there are available to begin with. I've heard before that the spots open are from people who dropped out of the BS/MD program so that the number of availabilities per year varies. Anyone know if that's true?

Also, I'm wondering since (I believe) this is UMKC's first year on AMCAS if they are just being overloaded with people applying who don't really know what it is.

I called admissions earlier with questions and these were on my list. The woman said last year they had about 200 completed applications for 20 spots. I wonder if opening it on AMCAS will change that though.

I bet it will. Before they were on AMCAS you had to already know about the program, most likely from being in the area. Now, I bet they will get a whole bunch of applicants who don't realize it isn't a traditional medical school in the sense that the majority of students are BA/MD. It'll be interesting to see, I guess!

Well because their secondary was due on Aug 1, and it wasn't emailed to you (maybe it was if your primary was verified?), maybe a bunch of those applications will be people who didn't do the secondary? Or people who can't start in Jan. Anyone still in undergrad would have trouble with the Jan start date, I'd think.

I was verified on 8/16 but I still haven't heard anything from them yet. I assigned my primary to be sent to Missouri-Kansas when I submitted my primary on 7/3.

As long as you have completed the secondary already you are in the same boat as everyone else I think, they have been pretty silent

You don't receive one, you had to do it online on your own, I think before August 1st. With how crazy AMCAS has been though they may make an exception.
