1,000 character limit on all prompts

· How is Camden, New Jersey either similar to or different from communities you have experienced? How do you believe that these factors will impact your medical education?

· In what way do you believe that you made an impact or difference to a school, job, organization, or person in your life?

· As you reflected on what to include in your personal statement to AMCAS, how did you decide which aspects of yourself to highlight?

· Which undergraduate course taught you the most about yourself? Please explain.

Good luck to everyone applying! :luck:

Applied- I really like their focus on underserved communities. Good luck!

As someone with strong EC's and volunteering but a weak academic start and thus low GPA (but strong upward trend), I thought a newer school w/ a focus on underserved community would be a good match for me - like Cooper.

I applied without really researching the area, but have recently read some scary things about Camden - any comments/thoughts on the safety of the neighborhood?

Anyone receive a secondary yet? I'm super excited to be applying to this school, I have heard nothing but good things!

Will be applying here IS as well. I will likely send my app in by the end of this weekend as I am still waiting for MCAT scores anyway.

As far as safety goes, Camden itself is not great; however, the area surrounding the hospital and school are safe. I went to Rowan Undergrad (attended the main campus, but attended events at the Camden Campus) and my brother went to Rutgers Law School (in Camden) and never had a problem with safety.

So what areas do people live in?

Rowan is actually renovating a residence hall for Cooper med students from what I have heard in local news. It should be up for Fall 2015 if all goes well. Victor lofts in Camden is where some students are as well. If you do not want to be in Camden, there are plenty of small suburban areas, like Collingswood that are really close. Philadelphia is only a PATCO ride away, which isn't too bad (when they are not doing construction on the bridge:sour:). My brother and I both commuted from home for school. We live in a small suburb in the area.

Good to know, thanks 🙂

Applying here, love the primary care and underserved population emphasis.

this is where i wanna go, social justice medicine!

Would this still be considered a "new" school?

Cooper has guaranteed the building company that 95% of the rooms will be taken or Cooper will pick up the bill. Shouldn't be so hard with it being pretty tough to get housing. It is all a part of the city wide revitalization.

"Tell us something about you that does not come through in the AMCAS application. (1000 Char)"

Would this be a good place to talk about being a re-applicant and how I have improved my application? Is there somewhere on the secondary already to talk about that? Otherwise, I have a sort of canned response to this kind of essay ready.

Make Cooper's very specific. You need to mesh with their mission. A generic response will not get you anywhere.

Well I already did that in the first question, "How do you match the mission of CMSRU?" Should I talk about being a reapplicant here?

Got the secondary, here it goes: (all 1,000 ch.)

Any idea how rigorous the screen is? I heard it was pretty rough, but congrats!

To be honest, I have no idea. Thank you!

I'm just glad I didn't pre-write because I think the prompts changed from last year

welp! sucks i prewrote this one🙁 it changed

+1, same stats (more or less) as above

As exhausted as I am from writing secondaries and was hoping this one hadn't changed at all, I think these are pretty good questions compared to others I have done.

Reapplicant and FAP. Maximizing my chance haha. Applying 5 DOs. Yet to submit AACOMAS. Just need to proofread and hit submit.

Received secondary! Will be working on these next week as well!

I also did about 18 last week, I seriously can't believe it was only a week... it felt like a month of writing. Whew! And there's still more to come (I hope?) and still waiting for AACOMAS to verify me. Best of luck to everyone applying here! We can do it 😀

I also just got the secondary this morning.. some interesting questions!

Same here. Got 25/40 back. Submitted 8. Next week is express mode. Working in multiple secondaries at the same time. They are so draining!!
Me too completed 7/30ish. Will be plugging and chugging next week, since I specifically took a week off from work to complete these! -__-
