2014-2015 Stanford University Application Thread

Accepted students: do we have to turn in the intention to matriculate form to get our financial aid packets? Or is that just for when we've made our final decisions?

You don't have to commit before getting your financial aid package. Last year a lot of people got theirs right before second look (there's time to meet with financial aid during the weekend so they wanted to make sure most people had their packages).

That being said, I still don't see the Stanford specific form on axess. Do other people see it?

I don't see it yet either, but I think they'll send us an email when it's up!

Apologise in advance if this has been asked before! Does anyone know what the yield rate is like at Stanford? Or in previous years, how much movement on the waitlist? :luck:

Earlier in this thread someone posted 50% yield. They accept around 180 and about 90 matriculate. This was also said at my interview. Don't know about the wait list.

II TODAY! Submitted at the end of July, talk about a lengthy review process....thought my alma mater wasn't going to show me any love...
Congrats! Do they interview until march or April? The complete email I received back in the summer says april? Do you know which dates were available?

Jeggy got it right (as always). I sent mine in literally on May 15th! (or whatever the last day is)

does anyone know what date the interview was for the most recent people who have heard back post interview?? I interviewed 2/20 and they said we could hear in 3-4 weeks but maybe 6... 3 is this friday so i'm just curious!

Interviewed a week before ya and they said 6-9 weeks, but Stanford seems to notify accepted people way before others too.

Me too! Maybe we were in the same group. 🙂

I actually surprisingly found out that I was offered a full COA scholarship at another school the day after I received the email, so I declined the interview invite. Dates available to me were 3/23 and 3/26. Best of luck to whoever gets the now available slot! 🙂
Congrats! That's awesome!

Congrats on being a Geffen Scholar?

The world needs more people like you...

Thank you and congratulations on your full COA offer! That truly is remarkable!

For those who are accepted, did you receive the acceptance by snail mail or email?

when does interview season go until? I haven't received anything.
Could be as late as the end of April. They haven't set a definite date for the end of interviews, and I heard that one year they interviewed after the deadline to hold only one acceptance...

Rejected via email within the last 30 minutes. Probably for the best; an II at this stage would have caused some problems... an interview in March would have been difficult to attend, but an II from stanford would have been impossible to turn down, and my tiny little brain would probably have exploded at the prospect of making that decision. So thank you, Stanford, for giving me fewer problems to deal with 😛

EDIT: I just realized that I was marked complete almost 8 months ago. Jeez, this year has zipped by.

Awww I got this email too, but I know you were really excited about this school early on (and still are). I'm very glad that you met incredible success this cycle, and have lots of options... You did so amazingly well (legendary!) and I can't wait to see what you end up choosing in April!

Ridin' the mass e-mail rejection wave. Alas, no Palo Alto pour moi.

Good luck to all those waiting on post-interview results!

Yup finally got my mass email rejection as well. The wait was KILLIN ME!

Good luck to all else!!

Oh man... waiting for my rejection then too :/

Is there a date for when post-interview decisions end/all the decisions go out by? I haven't gotten a decision and its been approx. 2 months since my interview..

An email rejection here, too. I expected more from you Stanford (where's my snail mail rejection!!)

No email here yet. WTF Stanford, so mean to just let me stew in this .00000000001% chance of an II now.

Hey guys, sorry to hear about the rejections :/ Wishing you all the best with other schools! If you haven't heard back yet, there's still hope. I received a totally unexpected II this week - dates available were in the 4th week of March. So there's all of April still available potentially 🙂 Best wishes!

I wonder what's so special about me that I was snail mailed a rejection a month ahead of most of you guys? Alas, that is probably the only way I will ever be special in Stanford's eyes. 🙁

... But that's okay; Yale thinks I'm special, so who cares? 🙂 I trust that many or all of you who got bad news have other amazing offers. Good luck to those still in the hunt. I'm looking at you, @Willy38 (or better still you'll end up at Yale with me!). :xf:

I would like that very much.

Yep. That truly hurts to get an email. We're not even worth that sweet sweet California recycled paper.

Is there a day/time when acceptance calls are usually made? DYING OF ANXIETY HERE
At first it was Friday afternoon till about 7pm PST. But then I heard people got it on Tue and Thu afternoon as well.

I did that and I got waitlisted. So maybe peacefully and joyfully waiting for the lucky strike is the way to go....🙂
