does anyone know what exactly fulfills the cell biology prerequisite? I am curious🙂 I have taken two semesters of general bio, and developmental bio, and also public health microbiology.

Cell Biology is it's own class. 🙂 Also, there is a class called public health microbiology? Whhhat?

I'm guessing that one of my microbio classes could cover the requirement because I am sure we covered some of the same topics.
description of the class at UC Berkeley was "Introduction to properties of microorganisms; their relationships with humans in causing infectious diseases and in maintaining health" I will ask the school🙂

I received am email this morning with a link to the secondary! After going to the site, the actual secondary is not available yet, but will be in the next few weeks.

You should apply, they'll just require you to take the class before you matriculate (if accepted).

Has anyone else gotten absolutely no correspondence from UMKC since applying?

Mine is incomplete as well even though i submitted it two days ago...shall we call them?

I'd say give them a week or a few more days at least before you call. But they're really nice so you can call if it would make you feel better.

yes call them. let me know what happens. also mention it's a bug for everyone. thanks in advance 🙂. i'll try too.

Does anyone know where the E-consent is? I was only able to find the Technical Standards section...

For those of you who have gotten the secondary, when is the deadline?

So I just called them. They said that it might a few weeks for the general application to be processed and shown as complete on the secondary app. It is fine if that happens after Aug1. Just make sure you check back every now and then. Once it says its complete, the submit the whole application.

Anyone know where the E-consent section is? I've looked everywhere...

I just submitted the general application (I was confused that I had to go to another application and thought I simply hadn't received my secondary yet...). On the submission page for the supplemental application it states:

"If you are satisfied with your responses to our supplementary questions, we are ready to receive and review your entire application." (note the underlined "s")

Does this mean there are multiple additional essays once my general application is verified? Can anyone who has fully submitted please clarify this? Thanks!

so are there two applications? general and secondary? im confused by this school lol.

From the email: The secondary application and Technical Standards must be submitted by August 1, 2014. Submission of the final supplemental application should occur as soon as possible, after the secondary application (the General Application for Admission) is processed.

Sounds like the secondary is the general application. After it gets processed it seems like you just need to submit the final supplemental application.

Also, does anyone have their Letters of References received? It shows up on my status that they have not been received, although I sent them well over a month ago to AMCAS.

Yes, it's technically all a part of the same thing, but they separated out the technical standards and last portion are separated from the secondary which is the General Application. I thought that was kind of dumb for them to do that because it's confusing at first.

I emailed them about this just to make sure everything would be in on time and they replied "Unfortunately, the letters of recommendation do require processing time for our institution to receive them from AMCAS. At this time, AMCAS is just finalizing the set-up for us to receive all of these letters of recommendation." They also said that if they have been received by AMCAS and released to UMKC, they should be received shortly.

I have received excellent email correspondence from UMKC so far.

Does anyone's "app status" say that their General University App is complete?

Mine is complete. But my letters aren't...even tho AMCAS received my letters almost a month ago

Yeah same here! I just got an email update saying that letters have to be complete by August 1st, and I'm not sure what to do. UMKC takes letters from AMCAS, so I don't know why they haven't received them yet...

I unknowingly applied here thinking that matriculation was like any other school- that is beginning in August of 2015. Can anyone here confirm that the only matriculation date is in January? And if so, why?

Maybe we can call the admissions committee to see if they even downloaded our letters from AMCAS?

It in fact is. I'm pretty sure that this school views that extra semester as a transition semester, so matriculants can get acclimated and into the same system that the 6 year med schools have gone through for the past year and a half. I could be totally wrong, but I think that's why.

Yeah, I'm going to call them tomorrow. Hopefully the letters will be updated by then.

MSAR says they start in August, but they do in fact only start in January. They do this because they have med students who are on this track since senior year of high school so they have no reason to wait until August to start classes.

Hey so I worked with two UMKC students, and I just found out that as med students you don't work on live cadavers??!?!?! You work in a simulated cadaver lab with dummies?? I'm sorry but if I am paying $$$ to learn medicine, I really want to learn on a cadaver. These students just graduated this past year, can anyone verify if current incoming med students work on cadavers or just simulations? In case I want to do a surgical specialty I don't want to be at a huge disadvantage. (Though if I decide to apply here I would still be honored to be accepted and matriculate of course)

Yeah, I'm going to call them tomorrow. Hopefully the letters will be updated by then.
could you please update me after you call them? (so they don't receive so many calls on one day regarding the same things)

General University App completed 7/24/14. Finished processing today (7/30/14) and I submitted today! My letters are still not marked as received, though they are listed in the "Document Status" section.

Yeah, same with me! It also says that the letters were received a little while ago, so I guess it wasn't updated on the secondary until today.

Yeah, mine say they were received the same day that they were marked received on my AMCAS. UMKC said that as of last week they were still working with AMCAS to finalize the set up to be able to access the letters. I am just happy that they are finally marked as received on my secondary application, my mind can now rest easy! 🙂

Hey everyone, just checking...is the primary deadline for this school really July 15th?!

Has anybody received an interview invitation to this school yet? For starting in January I would assume they would already be interviewing?
