2015-2016 Temple University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Eh, a ccl letter isn't really an enviable place. you know. Not too happy about this. Actually, I'm not happy about it at all.

Acceptence on 12/22! I applied in middle October, had an interview last Wednesday (12/16). I am definitely putting down a deposit., but I am not sure if I will definitely go. Anyone in this thread committed to Temple for the 2016 incoming class?

Acceptance* haha ops

Hey!

Accepted temple student here (pretty certain I will be attending). Can anyone tell me if there is a technology requirement (IE: laptop, tablet) for this school?

tfw I'm still dying for Temple and nothing is in my mail. Temple has the service orientation of Cooper Rowan and more than that, it's cheaper only 44,000 dollars for tuition. I'd actually be able to afford to go. please temple, come through for me.

got my CCL letter today. I'm pretty disappointed, as I thought both of my interviews went really well. Does anyone know how much movement the CCL list receives?

Sorry to hear that. When did you interview and did this come by snail mail?

I interviewed in early December and the letter was dated December 16th. I've been out of the country for the past 2 weeks so I'm not exactly sure when the letter came but it was via snail mail.

Does Temple put everyone who interviews and isn't accepted on the CCL list? I don't recall anyone saying they have been rejected post-interview

It is a mystery to me too. I have not even received a ccl letter yet despite being in Pa. It's possible it is a rejection at this pt but this being in between is just tough. Seems like temple is running a lot of interviews and then waitlisting a lot. I wish they did this by internet portal so we could know quickly.

the director told us 800 interviews this year.
That's interesting. According to MSAR, last year they interviewed 981 so that's a 20% drop...and I'm assuming they had an increase in applicants.

I just have this bad feeling they are waitlisting everyone. Seems odd not a single person has posted about a post-interview rejection at this point in the season.

When did you interview? My letter was dated ~2 weeks after my interview

November 18th and they said we'd know by Christmas. On the portal, my application is stated as "still under review".

What doesn't make sense is that if their class size is around 200, and they interview 800..... they would need to accept 2- 3x the amount interviewed to have one acceptance. I.e, they need to take around 400 people ( or half of their interviewees). So logically, if you are interviewed, you ought to have a 50% chance at acceptance. So the question is why so many Sdners are being waitlisted. They also said they'd be more intentional with the WL this year. So either, they are waitlisting everyone even the people they would reject because they are worried about their yield, or SDNers are very not representative of the typical accepted temple student.

man, I don't know what to think.

I feel this way too. I feel like this application cycle has been very different from the past. So many wait lists compared to flat out acceptances/rejections! Which is nerve wracking because Temple is my top-choice, but if they have this huge wait list, my hopes and dreams of getting pulled off slowly disappear 🙁

The in-between time is tough, but here's to hoping it works out for all of us in the end :nailbiting:

That 50% acceptance rate is the final tally however. That number doesn't tell you *when* the acceptances are handed out.

I'd give them a call next week and just ask what your status is. It could be something along the lines of one or both of your interviewers not being able to make it to the committee.

Isn't that risky, though? You don't want to seem like you can't have patience. I thought all this time it was b/c I was likely on the CCL, but if so shouldn't the letter have come by now?

Me too.
I actually like Temple's area and service mission. moreover, the kindness of the faculty and even the admin desk was wonderful. It's also instate for me. And I would prefer to stay in PA for medical school.

I think in years past they over-accepted, so that may be why they're playing it cautious this time around with lots of WL placement.

Just say something to the effect of that you were told you'd know by Christmas, and just want to be sure there wasn't anything lost in the mail with the holiday rush.

Does anyone know when their CCL starts to move? Is it April?

They said in the CCL letter that the majority of movement would happen after April 30th.

I'm hoping that the SDN Temple postings aren't representative because it'd be really unfortunate if everyone is put on the waitlist who isn't accepted. I really liked Temple but I have no sense if I even have a chance at this point.

Well I waited 11 weeks just to get waitlisted so it stung extra hard knowing that at least one committee meeting I was close enough to have the decision delayed (at least thats what I'm hoping happened). I was getting really discouraged until my first acceptance came later that week and now if Temple keeps me on its strings until May/June I probably will not be withdrawing for it...I hope their is some movement before then.

Quick question, but is Temple receptive to pre-II grade/coursework updates? I see a "Send Us Stuff" button in the applicant portal.

Has anyone who interviewed during the first week of dec. received any news?

I really want Temple to show me some love 🙁 anyone know about how many II are left to go out?

Temple is one of many schools that have given me complete silence since having been complete in early August.. Anyone have some insight?

Does anyone know if Temple has a student host program? In the II email I received it said "Travel and hotel information can be found on TempleMedOnline," but I could not seem to navigate to the exact location of that information. Anyone with a direct link to or knowledge about hotel/student host info would be really helpful!

Yeah they do. I think it's near the bottom of the "Home" tab of your portal, if I remember correctly. My interview is done so my info changed on there

Interviewing here soon. What is the interview like? Any tips?

I just got an interview here but I can't schedule it? None of the dates are clickable. I guess I'll just wait then..........
