Hey all I'm OOS..3.98/35 MCAT still no secondary. Anybody else in this boat with me? What's the cut off?
I received and submitted secondaries to UCLA and UCSF...

OOS here too, 3.22 cGPA (thanks to the hurray for a C mentality in pharmacy school) 30 MCAT. I didn't get a secondary either last cycle; got one just a few days ago. For this cycle my application has not changed any except the addition of me becoming a pharmacist preceptor. Perhaps they do look at the whole person?

Should I be concerned if I have not received MSTP secondary yet? It was my impression that schools don't screen for MSTP (received ucla and vandy), but maybe ucsd is different ...

So excited to join all of you who are done with this quintupledary. I didn't realize how physically exhausted I could get from marathoning these long essays. Phew!

Is it a big deal for an OOS to receive a secondary from UCSD? Does anyone have an idea how intense the prescreening is? I'm on the low end of stats and was completely surprised by the secondary invite. I was not expecting it at all.

As an OOS MSTP, I got a secondary fairly early from them. From what I've heard, they do screen for numbers at this point, but I don't know if it's a harsher screen IS vs. OOS. My numbers are fairly average: LizzyM 73.

As for being concerned, it seems like a lot of people haven't yet gotten secondaries, and there's still a lot of time. I doubt it's a good use of your energy to worry!

Do you guys think it's ok to incorporate some aspects of the personal statement in the autobiography? I'm thinking I'll rephrase what I write but I find it almost impossible to discuss my motivations for becoming a doctor without repeating some of the things I talked about in my PS.

Yeah I think so. That's what I did. But I only talked about it in a couple of sentences and summarized it (because I assumed they would have read my personal statement beforehand). Just make sure it's not the main focus of the essay.

I ended up doing like a super quick recap of it in the secondary. My PS actually ended up being like an autobiography in itself, but focused more on my nontrad routes and how I was led to medicine, so it was super tough for me to write this secondary! I was like "Uh..I think I discussed most of my relevant life..", but in the end managed to write more about my childhood--> HS years. I think the last paragraph ended up being a quick recap where I literally just stated stuff like "then I went to college and did this...then this happened and all of this led to where I am now", because I suppose that entire second half of the story is my PS -__-"

I'm confused about whether there even is a secondary for MSTP applicants since this was in the SSN request email: "If you are applying to the UCSD School of Medicine’s (MD/PhD program), your application is currently being considered for this program. Should your application be rejected from the MD/PhD program, you will receive notification from us, and your application will then be considered for the “MD only” program."

Sounds like we'd only get a secondary if we were rejected from the MD/PhD program and transferred to MD only. But I'm not sure.

I'm applying MSTP and have turned in the secondary and it seems I'm still being considered for MD/PhD. Therefore, I'm pretty sure MSTP candidates fill out the secondary. I'm sure you'll get one soon, I wouldn't worry.

oh ok thanks for the clarification. And I'm not worried at all about not having a secondary yet. The more time I have to prepare for that beast the better.

I also found that part of the email odd. I think what they meant is that at any part of the pre-interview process (pre-secondary or pre-interview), they might reject you from MSTP, but you'll still be considered for MD. And they would notify you of that rejection from MSTP. So basically that admissions are separate for MD/PhD vs MD.

Just wrote my main draft. Did you guys get your autobiographies edited by people you know?

So I'm guessing that they are now sending secondaries in batches? Because I got the SS# request and I submitted to them on July 21 so....

congrats you guys! guess I might either get an II or a rejection soon then. OOS complete 7/27

Complete 7/22 IS here... judging from past cycles they'll notify us if we were rejected or put on hold for an interview by November. If the latter, we'll know the final decision by Jan-Feb.

Oof, time for me to really get this damn secondary done... Congrats guys!

Do they ask standard questions (e.g., Why UCSD?) at MMI stations?

Any MSTP interview invites or solely MD only?

do they not take credit card or something?

Did anyone else get a weird billing notice today? I can't log in to check mine for a while, but it was confusing because I paid the fee a while ago. Too bad it wasn't an II!

Yes, I think it was just a receipt for the check we had to electronically send. I got excited too, before I saw what it was.

Yeah I got it too, but it seems like it's telling me that they didn't collect my payment, so they're "billing" me for it now.

Well, the money is out of my checking account, so I'm not paying for it again, including the $.50 service charge (really??).

I got the same email telling me that my billing statement is due 8/21/15. Do we have to do anything for this?

Office said it was just a glitch in their system. If you didn't get an email saying your payment was rejected (back when you paid), you're fine.

Also, if you login to your Tritonlink account, you can navigate to see your current billing activity and it should say $0.00.

Anyone know anymore information about GHAC? It's so new it's difficult to know what the program is looking for in an applicant or what the program will exactly do for the future of its participants...
