2015-2016 University of Chicago (Pritzker) Application Thread

An all 6 of mine are there and I am not a MSTP applicant
If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for all your letters to show up on the portal once you submitted your secondary?
I'm wondering if they're just getting to it one-by-one or maybe there was a mistake?

Hmmm weird, I'll try calling next week. I'm leaning toward @onigirigal's idea that they have the letters, but they're just not listed on the website.

I submitted on 7/7 and the last of the check boxes, which was RECS, got ticked 7/15

That's odd. They uploaded three of my six for regular MD. Called to ask and they said only three would be considered by the committee. So. Yeah?

Unless things have changed that doesn't seem accurate. On the committee we regularly saw applicants with more than three letters. This might be just for the initial II/hold/reject decision, though. I have little insight into how that aspect of the admissions process functions.

Ah, someone please reassure me that having ~450 words for the challenge essay is okay...

Got it under 450, good enough.
Argh, I had this secondary laying around for awhile, I wish I had known we had to email them to confirm our fee waiver. Now I have to wait even longer. 🙁

Anyone know if forwarding the confirmation email from the AAMC is sufficient?

That is what I did.

My letters were marked as received this morning. Submitted 7/21.

However, only 3 of the 4 letters show up under "My Recs" and the one that doesn't show up is a very very strong PI letter. I made sure to send them all from AMCAS at the same time.
Anyone else have this same issue? Do you think they just list the first 3 on the portal but read all 4? Or simply ignore one and read the other 3?

Not sure if it's worth calling or not...

I think you should call if the letter will be very strong. It doesn't hurt to make sure that you have your best chances in.
Edit: I just got a reply to my inquiry email about the uploaded letters. Even though only 3 out of 4 are shown on the portal, the admissions office told me that my letters have been uploaded to my file. Perhaps, that's just how the portal is?

It's been a week since I've submitted and my LOR's are still not marked as uploaded...should I go ahead and call them?

Just got rejected. 3.8 GPA/37 MCAT. Submitted 07/08. Good Luck to ya'll still in the running!

are people getting emails for interviews/rejections or is it just by checking the portal?

Just found a little typo in one of my secondary essays and I'm so sad. I read them over so many times but somehow a word got deleted before I submitted. I hope it's not a huge deal, but I spent so long on these essays since UChicago is one of my top choices! Ah well. Letters uploaded to AMCAS on Friday so it sounds like I'll be put out of my misery soon enough.
Update: officially not a dealbreaker. II!

^ +2….complete 7/15….hope we hear something soon!

@NickNaylor, what hotels near campus would you recommend? I'm making a backup reservation in case a student host isn't available.

Based on @phuynh94 and @FutureBenCarson's experience, seems like high LizzyM's are being pulled off the stack first. Is this what you mean by "somewhat random"? 😉

No, they are legitimately reviewed in a somewhat random order. The application portal queues up applicants for review and they are reviewed as they come up. It isn't done in a chronological order unless it's been fixed. This is something the office is working on with the portal.
