Just submitted secondaries here (finally!)
I'll second the *very* close ties. It is all the seem to ask about during the secondary app!
 
how specific are the dates supposed to be for the "dates taken" section when entering in your course work? like do I have to put month day and year or is just month and year good?
 
Would it be ideal for a TN resident to apply here? When I was initially applying I looked into the school, but dismissed them because I was not in a listed state or a WV resident. However as a native of Appalachia and the eastern tip of Tennessee, I think I could argue I have some connection to the area.

3.5/ 503 (I believe it's a 28 on the old scale?) for reference. I'm pretty sure that my residency would rule me out almost immediately after I paid for the secondary, however I'd like a second opinion.

You will not be able to even submit a secondary if you do not have significant close ties to the area. I would not waste the time if you cannot provide that. Being in the native appalachia would not count as a significant strong tie most likely.

Do you mean for AMCAS? I honestly don't remember exactly but I think it was by semester? (I've tried to block out all memories of primary, lol!)

I don't even think you need to be that specific. Just year and semester ("Fall 2014"), so they can refer to your transcript. Adding in the month may actually be a bit confusing, because some schools have mini semesters in January and then the Spring semester starts in February, or other variations like that. I'd just write whatever is on your transcript...
 
Hey guys I have a question that I hope one of you can help me out with, since for some reason I've been having a hard time getting in contact with the office of admissions. On their secondary application, where it asks you to list out courses that you've taken- if I have retaken a course in undergrad and now only my repeated grade is counted on my transcript, do I have to list on both attempts on this page? I know on AMCAS you had to list out both attempts, but this page seems to only be trying to check and see if you have taken the required classes, what do you think? Should I just list out both of my attempts or just the one on my transcript, since my AMCAS info already shows that I have retaken it?

Have you tried calling Cindy Warren? That is a pretty specific question, I'm not sure if anyone on here could answer it with certainty.

I also agree that maybe a quick call to admissions would fix this. But I do think that this is simply to verify that you meet the course requirements. The committee probably just glances at it.

Got confirmation of my secondary. Still waiting on primary to go through though. I didn't even realize you could do secondary before primary, lol!
I'm OOS with very close ties. I'll keep ya updated. 🙂
 
Interview invitations will not begin until after Labor Day I would assume. They said in September that they will only be doing in-state invitiations. OOS people probably won't get interviews until November at the earliest if they do it like they have in years past.

Like someone else said, they do take their time!
 
Primary finally verified today. Secondary sent in last week. Now we wait!!!:nailbiting:

Re-reading the earlier comments and saw this. I SWEAR my secondary asked if I had ever received a misdemeanor and THEN *traffic violations can be misdemeanors or something. I have had a traffic violation, but I think it is off my record because I was a minor and it was 3+ years ago? But I marked no, because I misread this asking if I've had a misdemeanor. Oh god, they will think I'm a big liar OR that I can't read directions. Should I call!?!?!?! AH!

They just said the traffic violation can show up on background check sometimes. So I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it'll make you feel better, then call Cindy lol

I got an email saying that IS students will be interviewing in early October. Can someone from last year answer as to the dates they start notifying people that they got an interview (?? early Sept - mid Sept - late Sept ??)

They set up the date with me about a month in advance. If you are the very early instate applicant, you should be hearing from Cindy in a week or two. Good luck!

Thanks for the update!

I remembering seeing somewhere that the adcom meets Tuesdays? So every Tuesday I get a little more anxious, haha!

Contacted via email. I was scheduled the 15th but had to move to the 29th. Good luck to everyone on their interview.

Contacted via email. They originally scheduled me for October 29th, but it wouldn't work for me. They gave me two weekends in November and two in December

I submitted in late June and didn't get a completion email until early August
 
Any more people get II here yet? I have heard from all the other schools I've applied to but not heard back here.

Nope not yet! My secondary was submitted around late July/early August (can't remember exactly)

If you are interviewing this Saturday morning, I so look forward to meeting you! You will spend part of your time with a few of us MS-2's who will be answering your questions and giving you a tour (and doing our best to help you keep butterflies at bay between interviews).

Congrats. I'm slightly confused though. I interviewed on the 15th and they said that the admissions committee wasn't meeting until November 1st. Has that changed?

Hi, Looking at last year thread: Santa need to come around for OOS love 🙂

"Last year I didn't get my OOS invite until early January and didn't interview until February. They are doing most OOS interviews after the holiday break so no need to sweat it. Good look guys! Marshall is an awesome school!"

Thank you T1mberwolf for that dose of confidence! I am applying for the MD/PhD program, and I think decisions are made by Jan. 31st. But the adcom said to send in Fall semester grades once they are in, so I am hoping that II will be sent out after that. Will be a great Christmas present. 🙂

I visited this school last month - wonderful place and such kind people! Which you can probably gather from previous threads. But seriously, so impressed!
