I don't think the added value is considered as part of the base formula. I think it is MCAT, GPA, AMCAS and ECs, and interviews. Dr. Underwood described the added value as "bonus points" added to that cumulative score. I may be misremembering though. Other that that, everything is weighted 25%, and the numbers go into a computer that spits out the list of those accepted.

Got my interview date! It's 12/9! Advice from others that have already interviewed would be appreciated!!
 
I still haven't received my date. Anyone know when the last date of this year is? My e-mail said fall but spring is approaching!

Just relax! I really enjoyed my interview day there. Everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming. My interviews were all very conversational, in some of them we just talked about life/my friends/etc. You'll be fine! Good luck! 🙂

Both sort of. There's a little chunk of time for interviews before lunch and one after lunch. You'll get a schedule the morning of and it basically depends on when yours are. A lot of people in my group were done before lunch, but I had one scheduled at like 11 and another after lunch around 2.

I'm thinking it'll be tomorrow at the earliest. All those with outside interviews had to have them completed by yesterday, which probably means the AdCom met (or will meet) today to allow time for the interviewer's feedback.

They call. Dr. Underwood told us, "If you see that Paul Underwood is calling you, please answer the damn phone because it means you got into medical school."

Don't know if they email you otherwise or if just silence means you are under some "continue to evaluate" status.

Out of curiosity, did they find out throughout the year, or was it after interviews had wrapped up in March?

If I am correct the wait list isn't drafted until interviews are over. So being on hold is different than being on an official wait list.

Quick bit of advice needed!!
I have my outside interview today and the Dr. I am interviewing with and his daughter are alumni from my school. I learned this through googling information about him. Is it appropriate for me to bring this up first or wait for him to? Thanks! I didn't want to seem like a stalker but I am thinking he may be impressed that I researched and know that?

I researched my Dr. and asked her specific questions about her resume. I think it went over very well, but everyone's different. I say go for it. It shows you care and took an extra step you didn't have to.

So I am finished with interviews! So do you guys know if each person you interviewed with gets a vote and the majority rules?? I hope so haha!
 
Does anyone know when this months decisions will go out? You had to have outside interviews done by today!

The general rule is the last Tuesday of the month, but considering the holidays, I would guess it will be some time this week, especially if the last day for outside interviews was today. Just guessing though.
 
The committee meets tomorrow according to what they told us at the welcome.
Update if you hear anything from December 9th interview date!

Is there a facebook group set up for accepted students yet? If so is it possible for someone to link me? I was accepted on the 29th of November and I interviewed about 2 weeks before that.

I haven't seen one yet, wish somebody would start one! Is it something the university does?

Yea there doesn't seem to be one set up. I was gonna make one myself and then post it here, but I was told that the university generally sets that up.
 
How do we provide MUSC with an update to our application? Is it through email?
 
For those of us put on hold in December, is mid March the earliest we could hear back?

In theory, you could hear back any time, but from past threads, it seems most on hold hear back in late March/early April.

Students are the ones who would set up a Facebook group.
The official word from the University is that they are trying to push away from Facebook and are asking students to use a social networking service called "Yammer", but it is actually a horrible place that only the faculty have accounts on.

So you're saying I should set up a facebook group?
 
So I have a question for students who go here or plan on going here and we're also accepted to USC-Greenville. What made you pick MUSC over Greenville and would you make that decision again? What are you favorite and least favorite aspects of MUSC?

Sorry, I'm just really torn and have to start making up my mind.
