2016-2017 Vanderbilt University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Also rejected, LizzyM 75. didn't think I had much of a shot with a 3.6 sgpa but yolo

RIP Vandy.

LM 70-75, submitted 1st week july

Also axed. Good luck to everyone who got through!

Another pre-secondary rejection (within 30 minutes of another rejection lol). Not surprised (LizzyM 74, primary verified late July) but the email was not the nicest... Oh well. Good luck to those still in the running!

Someone on here had said they they stop sending out secondaries the end of October. I emailed the admissions office and they said they will send out secondaries until mid-November. So there's still time. After they stop sending them out I think they'll send a rejection to the rest.
Well, I got the rejection email on Friday. Oh well! I thought I had a chance with a 4.0 in chemical engineering/biochemistry, significant research experience, and a 517 MCAT, but I guess the pool was just super competitive! Kudos to everyone who made it!

Reeeejected!

Oh well, obviously a reach/dream school. Good luck everyone!

Just had interview here a few weeks ago. Absolutely amazing place. Top choice so far.
Congrats and hope you hear good news! I'm interviewing later this week; any advice to share?

Ask the students about your interviewers beforehand. Get some hot chicken while youre there. know/pretend to know why you'd want to go there over other top 10 schools

Also if you go to Hattie B's for hot chicken be sure to get the banana pudding as well! it's criminally underrated and was IMO the best part of my meal.

That sounds great; thanks so much! Can't wait to give all that food a try...

Anyone know what day the mid December acceptances came out?

Last year it looks like it was December 21 (Monday), and years past looks like it was somewhere between Dec. 15-20. Each year will probably be different, but I'll start getting anxious the week or two before Christmas

Any tips for the behavioral interview??? I don't want to freak out by the pressure of the time constraint but I feel like I need time to take a second to think? Basically tips on how to prepare would be great!

vandy does behavioral interviews? Like one specifically dedicated to that? Is that what the 30 minute one (haven't seen app before) is?

The behavioral interview is very relaxed. I thought one of the questions was a little bit strange, but overall this is your chance to show off your reasoning skills and your humanity. You can totally take a few seconds to think. In fact, my interviewer encouraged it.
To put your mind at rest: an example question (not one i was asked), might be something like "tell me about a time when you had to make a difficult decision"

Ah thank you! I was under the impression that this interview was them firing off questions at you and then cutting you off to get through the entire list of questions

Do we know which interview dates have a chance of being considered for the December wave?

fwiw, when I interviewed in early November, they said we were right on the border as well: might be considered for December, might be considered for January.

Definitely earlier interviews. Late interviews will depend on how fast your interviewers send in the evaluation report to AdCom.

when Vanderbilt will stop sending out II? for those of us, who have not get II, do we still have any chance?

Thanks for the info! I was also a border date so here's to hoping!
