Does anyone know anything about the accreditation warning?

As per LMU-DCOM's website:

Following the most recent accreditation review and site visit in early 2018, LMU-DCOM was found to be compliant with 57 of 61 elements and reaccredited by the COCA through 2022. In accordance with the newly established rubric developed by the COCA, LMU-DCOM was granted continuing accreditation with heightened monitoring. LMU-DCOM submitted a progress report November 1, 2018 and COCA accepted the progress report without amendments and all standards were met. COCA has also granted LMU-DCOM approval for an additional location and class size increase in Knoxville, TN starting Fall 2019.

Personally, I would assume it has something to do with opening the Knoxville campus. As I have said before, applying to COCA for a 50% class size increase and a new campus that you haven't finished building the year before accreditation review is a good way to guarantee that COCA won't roll up in a year and say, "Tell us how it goes! See you in 10 years!" I suspect they want to keep a close eye on Knoxville during its first few years, and at the time of the accreditation review they still didn't have all the walls up at Knoxville campus, so I'm sure they found enough to ding them on accreditation standards.

But that's just a personal theory. I don't think COCA or LMU have said anything public as to what specific elements weren't up to par.

I submitted my secondary 2 months ago... think its worth giving them a call?

Anyone know why the interview email states that we have interviews with 2 people but the agenda lists 3 separate times for interviews?

just wondering if anyone who got an II for Knoxville/Harrogate was accepted to a different campus than the campus of their II? or if that was even possible
You interview where you selected on your secondary application and if accepted, you will automatically be assigned to that campus. HOWEVER, you may email admissions and they can change your preference. I asked because I interviewed at Knoxville and the admissions officer stated I could go to Harrogate if I wanted. All I would have to do is email her! Hope this answers your question!

Accepted last Thursday! Interviewed on 9/13. Pleased with the campus and I really enjoyed meeting the faculty and students. Three acceptances so far but I am highly considering Lincoln!

i have an interview coming up in october but it's not for the campus i chose for my preference. so thank you for that information! i'll reach out to them if i get accepted to ask about that.

Out of curiosity, which campus were you invited to interview at?

Congratulations!!! I received some interview invitations from other schools but I am not going to attend them. I am pretty happy with LMU and excited to go there! I loved the campus and the people over there. Everything was nice and pretty.

Go to your other interviews

You will regret it later if you dont

I would say unless you're 100% sure that DCOM is your top choice out of all your IIs (which is hard to say unless you have visited the other campuses or your other option is LUCOM), you should at least attend the interview. A lot of people are swept off of their feet by their first interview, your other invites might be a better fit, and you don't lose anything by interviewing elsewhere, especially if those interviews are already scheduled. But if you're happy with your experience at LMU and it's a better fit (ie location to family) than the other schools, and interviewing is going to be a burden in cost or time off, then sure, cancel.

You are too vested in this forum to be a rando. Tell your uppers to release them like all the legit programs do

I know a lot of people who work for and go to the school. I live in the area. A relative of mine graduated from DCOM and another may be attending in the future. Does that make my interest more legitimate?

Is attendance required in this school? Do you have exams every week?

Attendance at lectures is not required, but I believe there are team-based learning activities during some lectures that contribute nominal points towards your grade, afternoon labs more days than not, and the occasional mandatory info session or lecture. The lectures are all recorded so you can watch from home on your own time after they are posted, or rewatch it after lecture. The student schedules are actually posted on the public website if you care to look for them and attempt to interpret - here's the current OMS-I fall schedule. This semester for first-years it looks like there is usually either an exam, a practical, or a standardized patient encounter once or twice a week, with the occasional off week. I think they usually separate the big block exams by several weeks or more.

Very good explanation hahaha

There really is a lot of useful information on their website, it's just really not a well laid-out website. Probably not worth digging through if you're applying (except for the material on their mission and the admissions pages). Maybe if you really want to be familiar with their material for an interview. But if you've been accepted or you've accepted an offer and you're looking to kill time or really looking for info to help make a decision on whether or not to come here, I might check it out. DCOM's SGA, alumni organization, and advocate association all have websites too, you may find some good info there.

Only thing I’d add.. you can’t watch the lectures live from home. They are recorded and posted around 1pm that day. It’s nice for the really slow professors, but I hate the idea of constantly playing catch-up.

I think like once a week there’s a day where nothing is mandatory for us

I am assuming you are a med student at DCOM right? lol
If yes, could you please tell us what you like about DCOM and things you don't? If you did before, can you please point it out where it is in the chat? Thank youuu 🙂

I am! I’m in Knoxville though, so I can only speak to this campus really. There are a lot of kinks to be worked out but I feel like the administration here is really receptive to our thoughts and feelings. I like that all of the faculty and staff care about us and want us to be successful, some even come in on weekends to host reviews or just hang out in their office in case you need help. If you have any more questions about stuff feel free to message me 🙂

Edit: things I don’t like are the mandatory stuff we have. Some of it is so dumb and seemingly useless, and takes away from study time. And all the technology issues we have (again, kinks so understandable). For almost all our classes so far, we have a resource here to get help from. But one of our classes the professors are only in Harrogate which makes it hard to get help. They’re working on finding professors here who can help in some areas though, at least

Those that interviewed and were accepted did you go to the meet and greet the night before? Not sure if I'll make it in time but I'll try and reschedule if y'all think it was important!

I went to it. It was very nice and useful. I wouldn’t reschedule the interview because of that, but if you can make it is definitely worth it! You’ll gain some very great insight from their own medical students...

I meant reschedule in terms of my day so I could reach a little earlier, my bad should have been a little clearer! Thanks for letting me know! 🙂

Does anybody know the post II rate at this school? Thank you!
Previous threads indicate about 75-80%

Thanks!

Older rates may have changed due to addition of the Knoxville campus. And the 80% that is generally quoted may include acceptances off of the waitlist as well (I don't know if that is typical).

Do you think the Knoxville campus addition would mean a higher acceptance rate?
