2021-2022 Meharry

<3.0 513 MCAT.
but please don’t lose hope. My interviewer explicitly told me that my MCAT score did not matter as much as the rest of my application. And that my secondary and primary app were what helped get me my interview.
Aside from Charles R Drew, i think Meharry is one of the most holistic screening schools. Meharry can move a bit slow at times so the silence doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing.
Thank you so much!! The wait sucks but it’s reassuring to hear that they are holistic and take their time. Wishing you the best! 🙂

For those who interviewed this week, when are you expected to hear back about your decision?
Edit: Asking bc I forgot to ask my interviewer

I didn’t receive the email to resubmit secondary. If we haven’t heard about interview by now is it looking like a rejection?
Not at all. I'm an MS1 at Meharry right now and I didn't get an II until March. Meharry doesn't do soft rejections so if you haven't heard anything, that means you're still being considered.

For those who received an II recently, did you guys get interviewed 3+times?? I had my first interview last year(MMI), second one a week ago(traditional), and now I have another one tomorrow. Not sure if the interview coming up tomorrow will be an Hybrid or traditional as well.

I had one interview Jan 3rd and was told it would be my only one

Interesting. I don’t get why there’s different requirements with regards to interview. Why are some interviewed once, and some interviewed multiple times.

i have a few running theories as to why. I think the more likely one is that they are trying out new interview methods.

just got invited for a second interview after interview with Meharry back in November. Interview is tomorrow lol.

Even though I was told I would have one interview, I just received an email stating that I will be having an MMI tomorrow on less than 18 hours notice lmfao

lol Why is this school unorganized? Like with sending secondaries late, and then sending them twice. And now interviewing candidates multiple times with less than a day notice?
Makes me question how the med school itself is.

Anyone know if you need to have CASPER in before they consider you for an interview?

I'm wondering this too. I had a very disorganized interview experience. If there are any current students on here or anyone that knows current students, do you have any insight on how students feel about the school post-admissions?

I'm an MS1 student and I'm just going to give my honest Meharry opinion. I personally like Meharry now that I'm here. I love the community feel of the student body, for the most part I love the curriculum, and I'm pretty satisfied overall. Now are they still disorganized once you get here? Yes. No way to sugarcoat that lol although not as disorganized and not in the same ways. Things like waiting til the last minute for exam schedules and such, but I, for the most part, don't mind things like that bc I roll w the punches. Others are really bothered by things like that. The thing is, no matter where you go, there's going to be issues. Every school has its downfalls, especially HBCUs. Most HBCUs are a little disorganized. They're usually understaffed and underfunded, so it's harder for them to keep things together. Still, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Hello Everyone,

I had my first MMI interview on December 17th and just completed my 2nd interview yesterday. Can any accepted students let me know how long they waited for a response after the interview?

Did anyone have any issues actually turning in their secondary? For some reason the "AMCAS ID" number doesn't show up and I can't submit *sigh*
Hi!! Pls I am having the same issue. Did you find a solution and if yes, please how? Thank you!

I think that person was accepted to the Meharry School of Dentistry, so a completely different admissions team and timeline I assume.

Congrats nonetheless!

For those who have been interviewed, how long was the MMI? How many questions/stations? and what is the third interview over? I've only heard of MMI and traditional interview style didn't know there was a third type.

3rd Interview? I finished my 2nd interview on 1/12 and haven't heard anything about another!? I know we're supposed to meet with students of the program but I haven't received any additional information on that. This is stressful

I interviewed the first week of January as well yet haven't received the second interview email...
Did you have the same interviewer for the second interview?

no.
My running theory is the applicants are grouped. So whoever had the 2nd interview last week was in the same group.
The next MMI will be another batch of students, and so on and so forth.
I assume this is because it makes it easier for adcoms to decide on applicants when they have a batch of 20 students to review. Then they will assign the next set of students to the interviewers for them to interview.... and so on and so forth.

So if you didnt get an email for a 2nd interview then it will prob be coming next week. The same way your 1 on 1 interview was scheduled.

Haha! You think they are this organized?!

does anyone know how funding works here? Are there a fair amount of scholarships offered/available once enrolled. Has anyone ever gotten a COA or full ride here? If you’re a current student or just know of others experiences, please share!

I'm not a student here but I was looking into this a couple days ago. I'll link a few articles below

They did give us all 10K a few months ago, but I will say I'm the class of 2025 and we aren't eligible for the Bloomberg money (much to our dismay). I haven't heard anything, but if we aren't, I don't think the incoming class will be either.

Did anyone else get a welcome email from an MS4 that said congratulations on your acceptance, but have not received an official acceptance from the admissions office?

I
N

No I didn’t. Didn’t get the email from an MS4 either. I’m just speculating.
I believe he was emailed prematurely. He def got the A. But I my interviewer alluded that they would give students lists of people to call and email, and I assume this MS4 jumped the gun lol.

So congrats to him :cat:, and RIP to the rest of our mental health as we grow anxious, wondering if we too will get this email. lmaooo

You didn’t get the acceptance call either?
what were the contents of the email? Was it a "Congrats, here is a time when we will be having a student Q&A?" or was it just a general congrats.
