I got my first MD acceptance today. According to the Choose Your Med School portal, I was waitlisted in early March, but I still received an under review email. I also sent an update letter recently, and they responded saying that I was still under review :/

Thank you! I plan to email Meharry for clarification, just in case others are in the same situation. To me, it seems like under review might mean they are actively reviewing the WL?

I assumed it was just their way of saying we haven't forgotten about you but we don't want to release our list yet. Mostly assuming this based on the fact that there has been no news on acceptances for the past 2 months.

Very, very long. Like a friend applied in August and didn’t find out till June. I get the feeling they don’t review apps in order bc ppl who interviewed after me have heard back… which is why the wait time is so varied

Oh wow! My interviewer said "no news is good news" because they wont be contacting us if we get on the waitlist. I thought I misunderstood her but ig this confirms it

Don't give up. Until an R is received, believe. You can make plans if necessary to apply next cycle, but it seems this one isn't over for you yet. Don't abort it too soon. 😊

I think Commit to enroll is July 1st but Plan to enroll is April 30th. On April 30th, you must narrow down to one acceptance, but you can still remain on waitlists for other schools. For the CTE deadline, once you click CTE you must withdraw yourself from all other waitlists.

A search on Gemini says Meharry's commit to enroll is April 30th. I'm on waitlist at other colleges which won't let their waitlisted students know until after May 1st. So, I don't know what to do

me neither. that's kinda crazy but understood since Meharry starts so early. Amcas should do something to regulate so all schools are on a similar timeline so students don't have to be in these situations.

No I asked one of the current medical students. Apparently if you’re on the waitlist or acceptance hold list, you should start seeing some movement after April 30th, fingers crossed.

Yes I was also told that we should hear more after April 30th because that’s the commit to enroll deadline. Basically we aren’t on a waitlist, they are just simply waiting to see how many more seats they need to fill AND how many more spots they can offer since schools usually offer ~100 more spots than they actually have.

Questions because I'm stressed the F out:
1) Do they usually release decisions in order of interviews or is it just random?
2) Has anyone who finished interviewing mid-February heard anything back?
3) Is it too late to send an update letter or letter of continued interest?
4) Will they let us know if we are rejected or is no answer just indicative of a waitlist/quiet rejection?
