They scheduled me for two interviews back to back. Has anyone had the same experience? Does anyone know why some are scheduled for one interview and others for two?

I think it depends on the interviewer but both of mine lasted 45 minutes while they asked the same questions (SELECT)

Does anyone know if the interview is closed or open file? MSAR says closed but I've heard some people say it was open

One of mine for CORE (maybe both, not sure) appeared to be at least partially open as the interviewer referenced stuff on my AMCAS application.

For people interviewing next week- does anyone know when the virtual presentations about the school will be? Do they happen on interview day?

According to my interviewers: both core and select interviewers have the choice to read your application or not. All my interviewers last year and this year chose not to.

IS invited for SELECT! But I was a different man when I asked to be considered for both CORE and SELECT (getting cold feet about having to leave Florida due to family), is it possible to ask to interview for CORE instead? I heard that once you're accepted in SELECT, it's very unlikely you can change to CORE. But what about pre-interview? Any insight is appreciated 🙂

You won't know if you don't ask, but SELECT is the one that's more difficult for them to fill, and it's very likely you only received the II because you expressed a willingness to be considered for SELECT, in which case you will be SOL if you tell them you don't want it.

Do you have other options in FL? If so, then you don't need it, and tell them it's CORE or bust. If not, then ask if you can switch, but make it clear that you want it either way. I have a feeling they won't let you switch, but you won't know if you don't ask. Good luck!

Hello, did they call you or email???

For those who interviewed, anyone know what the turn around time is for a decision?

II received for SELECT last week. OOS. There is only one interview date left which doesn’t work for me as I am traveling. Does anyone know if they’re adding anything beyond 3/7?

For those who already got the acceptance call. Was it a regular 813 Tampa number or did it say something on the caller ID?

For current medical students: Are we typically located in the downtown buildings or do we ever have to go to the main USF campus in North Tampa? I saw somewhere that the first two years are mostly at the main USF undergraduate campus for the first two years, is that true? Thank you.

Not a med student but I have a lot of friends that go there. First 2 years are in downtown Tampa ever since 2020 because the new building opened then. Before 2020, first two years were on the main undergrad campus. And last two years are generally in downtown area too because most the med students do their rotations at Tampa General Hospital.

First 2 years are entirely downtown with the exception of your DCE rotation (half a day once a week for 6 weeks out of your first year and 6-10 weeks 2nd year I think), and any research you may be doing on main campus at Moffitt. Besides that you'll only be on main campus if you choose to partake in extracurriculars there with any undergrad clubs or rec sports.

II for core just now for mid to late March dates. Complete late August. In-state non-trad ORM applicant with ties/significant time living in the Pennsylvania area as well (applied to both core and select), and honestly thought I wasn't going to hear back from this school ever because I'm below median for both MCAT and GPA 😳

Has anyone interviewed in Dec-Jan and received an acceptance? I keep hearing that if you get an II past December you're basically interviewing for the waitlist. Does anyone know if this is true?

Waitlisted today. Interviewed for Core mid-January.
hey sorry to bother you, but did you ever get an email from them after the physical mail? It's been 3 months since interviewing and I haven't heard anything making me wonder if I was WLed but my letter was lost.

Sorry if this is annoying, but Do you remember the specific date

hang in there, don't lose hope! was it via mail or email?
It’s not a bother at all! I only got a letter via mail, no email as of yet. I interviewed 1/19 and the letter was dated on Valentine’s Day (would have preferred a valentine instead). I hope you hear some good news soon!!

Also had to mention that my interview here was awful (with one of my interviewers). They were pretty sexist and condescending, to the point where I just started answering with a few words because I was so uncomfortable. So I’m not surprised.
My interview went horrible here too. For some reason, they only gave me one interviewer rather than two and he was the most horrible interviewer ever and seemed like he was out to get me the entire time. I’ve had many interviews and he was the worst one yet and really turned me off from the school. I got into another school so am really happy with that but the way he interviewed me was horrible. He literally argued with me on every single one of my answers. Interviews shouldn’t be a debate about everything I say. He legit said that he’s playing devil’s advocate. I never really got to get across who I am because every question asked would just turn into an argument, and he would attack whatever I was trying to say. I ended up getting waitlisted here, but I was so glad to receive this decision after seeing how horrible my interviewer was. I grew up around this school and my parents went here for undergrad and my sister goes here for undergrad, so I honestly thought I would have ended up here but so glad I am not. I have multiple close medical student friends here too that are really unhappy being here so something definitely needs to be changed.

+1, Had the exact same experience

Feeling like I dodged a bullet not receiving a II here based on what y'all are saying, I'm sorry you guys had that experience

I had very pleasant interviews, I was also WL, so I guess it varies
Absolutely, I've had some less than stellar interviewers who seemed disinterested and rushed at schools where the general consensus was that the interview was friendly and informal. It's the luck of the draw I suppose but even my worst interview experience did not approach the type mentioned here, maybe it warrants being reported to the school?

+1 to bad interview experience, the interviewer said it was impossible the research project my lab was working on would work, and that my other research project was pointless (and also impossible). For context I do not work in a biomedical field so I don't believe the interviewer actually knew more on the subject than me.

Then he spent the rest of the interview trying to argue with me against scientific consensus while I barely said anything. He wasn't playing devil's advocate either I don't think, he seemed to be just being himself and also at the end said sorry he took up the entire time with not actually interviewing me.

My faculty interviewer also said he was "playing devil's advocate" and proceeded to refute one of my responses I gave to his questions. The whole interview left a bad taste in my mouth afterwards

However, I also had a student interviewer, and that one was much better than the faculty one!
