I withdrew my A just now. I really loved Noorda-COM and everything about the school. However, the lack of federal loan availability is what made my decision, as I don't have the support to get private loans.

They’re on spring break right now so no movement this week. But was also told to expect a TON of movement this month and until classes start.

Full accreditation status meaning they’re eligible for federal loans this fall??

No. Once they are fully accredited, they can submit paperwork for a school code to the department of education that would make their students eligible for federal loans. The issue then becomes how long it takes the department of education to review the paperwork and issue a school code. With the case of ICOM, both covid and the trump administration slashing the department of education caused an extremely slow processing time for them to receive their code. Now, the current administration is attempting to entirely dismantle the department of education, so there’s no great estimate on when federal loans will become available. It could be fast, but my guess is that with how the department of education is being gutted, they won’t have the man power to quickly review Noorda‘s paperwork and issue a school code, assuming the option of federal loans to graduate students remains an option even with a school code, considering how the current party in power is going after grad PLUS loan options and higher ed in general.

I think the school still needs to now get a school code from the Department of Education before they can receive federal loans

There’s a great explanation a page or 2 back. I had shared some take aways (including accreditation news) from an info session and after this same question was posed, somebody gave an awesome explanation of why it’s not likely.

Admin told us that they had all the documents and what not ready to go and they would be sent in as soon as we were accredited. However it’s now all up to Department of Education as to how long it’ll take for federal loans to be approved.

Congrats! If you need a private student loan for Noorda-COM, Sallie Mae and ZuntaFi are your options right now. Just hop on ELMSelect, search Noorda-COM, pick ‘Medical,’ and you’ll see them. You can apply straight from there if you want.

I sent my letter of intent a couple months back and recently updated them on new research projects I was working on. Not sure if this by itself is the reason why I went from WL to A but it doesn't hurt to add to your application profile
