I submitted my secondary about a week ago but the application portal still says the next step in the checklist is to submit secondaries. Is this normal or should I assume there was a problem with my submission? I did get a confirmation email from ACOM that my secondary was sent though.

Same here, got confirmation email but no update on portal. However, when I click the "Supplemental Application" tab on the portal, it says "Thank you for submitting the required supplemental application for admission to ACOM's DO program" so it went through I guess.

I personally am waiting it out, I don't think it is an issue, the process takes time. If by July it's still like this, I might send an email or call to see if it is normal.

Thanks for replying! Yeah I agree it’s probably best to just wait it out at this point. I’m just glad that someone else’s application portal looks the same way. Wishing you the best of luck!

I just received an email from ACOM confirming my secondary was received. It said it can take up to 2 weeks for them to review your letters of rec, MCAT, etc.

Hey y'all! I'm a rising OMS-4 at ACOM. Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have about ACOM, Dothan, or HPSP. Wishing you all the best of luck this cycle!

Under which tab/place in the microsite was the portal/place to submit the supplementary application located? I have been trying for the past few days to submit and I cannot find it and no one has reached out yet.

Thanks in advance!

Application marked as complete: 6/26/24 3:55 PM
Secondary received: 6/3/24

i was verified on 6/20/24 and i have not received a secondary, should i worry?

I received a secondary (06/24/2024), filled out the microsite as directed, but can’t find the actual secondary. Anyone else have this problem?

You can't find the secondary on the horizontal tab at the top?

Yes I reached out to the admissions team and they sent me another link. This microsite has the supplemental application tab!

Hi! I'm a rising OMS-II at ACOM and happy to answer any questions anybody may have about ACOM, Dothan, or Summerfield apartments

When does ACOM begin interviewing? If you know what happened during your cycle too would be great!

I'm honestly not sure. I know that isn't helpful but I don't want to give you false information. I submitted my secondary for ACOM at the end of August and received an interview invite about 2 weeks later.

Is anyone having trouble accessing the interview sign up page? Did you redo the form, or directly go back to your old site? If anyone knows, that would be a great help
The email I got about the II mentioned that the portal won’t be open for at least like 90 minutes after I received it. I’m not sure when you got yours but that may explain it.

Oh okay thank you! Right now, when I go to the visit us page, it is blank. I will message you later today if I am able to get it to work. I assume you have not been able to schedule yet either.

Just got an II, but my personal site still only says 14% complete. I plan to wait at least till the end of the day to email about scheduling, but does anyone else’s microsite still say incomplete for other aspects of their application (even after receiving II)?
Yep!

OOS II received 7/8.

For those trying to schedule, mine took about 90 mins as the email says before I could schedule.

For those who got an interview invite, could you please share your stats?

I submitted my II about two weeks ago, and I received an email today saying my application will in remain in review for the remainder of the cycle. The status on the portal says Reviewed - No Interview.

I’m guessing this is either a R or waitlist. 🙁

For anyone that got a II, is there a spot on the website where you can indicate a preference for an "in-person" interview?

has anyone not received a secondary? i was verified 6/20. should i just lose hope and accept i was ghosted lol

Those who have received an interview invite, how are you preparing? Going over the SDN questions for ACOM? I am pretty nervous!

I'm just reviewing their mission statement, values, and things I liked about their campus + using the SDN interview site to prepare for questions. BTW, did you happen to see where we can indicate a preference for interviewing in person vs online?

I am interviewing next week and want to get a feel about what your experience has been like so far, what opportunities they provide to help support students, clinical years, ect. I don’t have any connections with students at ACOM, so if you could give me any student-insight that would be super helpful!

With HPSP, how have you liked it so far? I am currently in the process of applying and wanna see how you felt balancing HPSP commitments and summer trainings with actual medical school.

Also, if you have any suggestions or advice for interviewing send it on over! This will be my first interview and I have no idea what to expect.

Interview requested received. For reference they verified my OOS II and materials two days ago. Submitted II Last Tuesday

To those getting interviews, when did you guys have your application complete?

I just got this message, I believe it means I got deferred for an interview, anyone else gotten this?

"Thank you for your application to the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM). At this time, your application will remain under review for the duration on this cycle.

ACOM receives over 5,000 applications a year and there are a number of factors influencing admissions decisions. A competitive admissions review, including GPA and MCAT scores, along with your required experiences result in improved chances for an interview.

Please continue to keep your AACOMAS application updated. We are automatically notified when you make changes to your application.

Again, thank you for your interest in ACOM."
I got this email too. Don't know if it means I have been rejected or not. I think it is because of my 497 mcat score. What were your stats?

Of course, glad to help! I've had a great experience with ACOM, so far. The school provides a lot of board prep resources, ample vacation time, and both academic and mental health resources. They also make our clinical years pretty easy, as you have the ability to do aways/auditions or simply do a bunch of rotations in network. Unlike some schools, you aren't left to your own devices to set up your entire 4th year.

I've loved my experience with HPSP! In fact, I met my wife during OTS (Officer Training School). It's really easy to balance the commitments with school-- they leave you alone during the year, and then you have a couple trainings to do during the summer. I did OTS the summer before med school, so I was able to get it out of the way quickly. I then did AFOM (Air Force Operational Medicine) during the summer between 1st and 2nd year, but this is no longer a required course. You'll then do a couple active duty tours at residency sites during your 4th year, which are pretty easy to set up (easier than applying through VSLO). I've been able to get everything out of my med school experience that I've wanted, and not being in any debt is definitely a significant boon as we head into residency and the beginnings of our careers.

As far as interview prep, I studied the questions from the SDN interview feedback, did some mock interviews with family and friends, and familiarized myself with my application. It's open file, so you'll want to know your app inside and out.

I hope this helps, and don't hesitate to PM me if you have any other questions! This goes for anyone in the thread. 🙂
