2024-2025 Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
One door closes another one opens... Congrats. Where'd you see yourself gone wrong here ?

Also, does anyone know if this school filled their class of 2029 yet ? I would guess that they are trying to fill it as quickly as possible given their situation last cycle...

I can't Imagine they've filled their seats yet, considering all the rejections, especially people with strong ties to Orlando. I'd be really curious to know their admission criteria as well as post-II rejection/WL rates!

The class is filled, but the movement will begin as the first deadline is approaching.

Hi, OSM-1 here at OCOM. SDL means you study independently but under guidance. They provide you with materials to study, and you follow a set schedule. You have three mandatory days at school for CBL, Anatomy Lab, OMM, clinical skills, etc., with faculty—one instructor for a group of 6 or 7 people. There are also two whole days for SDL on Monday and Friday. This gives you the chance to visit your family during the weekend, like I do.
They now have a long list of rotation sites around Central Florida, including options outside the US for electives if you're interested.
Hey! I know you posted this awhile ago, but I've applied here and hoping to hear something soon. I will likely be going home on the weekends to be with my family too! How has this worked out for you?

I don't think it's too late to apply considering they are still doing interviews in April

Anyone know if the interview is open or closed file? Any advice?

IS II 11/27/24, scheduled for April, then declined 12/16 as I received acceptance to another DO school I'd go to over OCOM. Hopefully one of you wonderful applicants got my interview slot

+1 II last week. I believe they only have 5 interview spots left extending to April

Just got an interview thank you package in the mail. Interviewed 1/15/2025, does this mean anything or does everyone get one. Thanks

Mine was 1/13 and got nothing that’s interesting. Is this only for online interviews?

OOS WL yesterday, interviewed 1/15.

99% sure their class is filled as of now. My friend with really good stats also got WL.

I would expect waitlist movement to happen like crazy starting February when the 14 days of the Jan 15 deposit deadline starts rolling through.

Someone from admissions told me they are still filling up their class

Don't go to OCOM. I have significant experience there and I can tell you the whole place is toxic. From the staff and faculty to the students. Run run run!!!!

Has anyone from the lat January interviews gotten a reply yet. I interviewed two and a half weeks ago and still have not heard back

Congrats! When were you complete?
Thanks! I’m shocked I got an II too since I completed in January which is very late in the cycle. I’m a non-traditional(4 years as a nurse), MCAT 500.

Not to discourage anyone, but this school is inviting way more applicants than they can manage, leaving a long waitlist for those they’re not prioritizing. Feels disrespectful, but I guess it makes sense since they were desperate for students last year.

Writing this so people adjust their expectations accordingly

Hmmm, I’m really struggling to see how this is different from any other medical school’s interview invite process…

You’ll open your eyes soon. Not every school sees [emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]+ students per interview session and sends interview invites [emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]] minutes after you submit. Do the math and see how many students that turns out to

Some of the interviewers at OCOM don’t even ask questions specific to the applicant from how many essays they’re expected to go through. Understandable.

Reading this chat most everyone found out under two weeks after their interview. I interviewed late January and it has been over three weeks nearing 4. Anyone got any idea on what they are doing. Did they already fill or are they nearing full and just being more selective?
