DAWWWGGGGG you deserve it!!!!

I got a call with caller ID saying Baylor an hour ago but I unfortunately could not pick up. They did not leave a message. Do you think it was an A?

Does anyone know what the scholarship situation here is? I feel like Dr. Cable talked about it on the phone call but I was obviously somewhat delirious and can't remember exactly what he said. Will there be a second app that we're required to fill out? The websites all talk about another application but I feel like Dr. Cable said something about having all the info they needed for scholarship consideration. Am I trippin?

yeah, on the phone, he said that the scholarship committee is meeting in December, so we'll hear back about scholarships in either Dec/Jan. He didn't mention anything about a separate scholarship application or anything like that

an earlier post mentions receiving a scholarship that was temple-campus dependent.
do y'all think that means that prior to campus assignment, some recipients are offered "if you choose xyz campus, you get $$$" and some are offered "if you come to houston or temple, you get $$$." just curious what y'all think.

do only people who pre match in the first wave get scholarships or will other people be considered later?

For those who received acceptance, did the portal update, or did you get a follow-up email?

Can’t say for every scholarship that’s offered but there are scholarships after TMDSAS match and campus match that are campus dependent. So if you’re at the Temple campus and get a Temple specific scholarship, you’ll lose it if you get offered to move to Houston and you take the offer. Also vice versa.

I’m hoping this is irrelevant, but the first time I applied here in 2021, I forgot to submit after paying and ended up doing so in November (ik, fat rip). Obviously I didn’t get in. Do I just not mention this part to anyone when answering the Why Reapplying question in my upcoming interview?

Not worth mentioning

For everyone who received a pre-match acceptance, are you waiting to pay your deposit till the deadline in April? Our spot will be saved if we have accepted the offer and signed the acknowledgement form correct? I just don't wanna drop $300 right now if I don't urgently need to. Thanks!

Yea I accepted mine and got follow up emails regarding the deposit and signature. I’m waiting to hear from OOS schools so I’ll hold on paying the deposit as well.

For the deposit, you will never be charged the full $300. It varies depending on how many times you’ve changed your address or if you are international. I was only charged $55.
I gotta unrelated question for ya, how do make use of the 2 free days per week the curriculum gives its students? Do solely use it to study or do other career related activities as well?

Many students use it to study. When you enter the first block of the curriculum (transitions to medicine), I would recommend using your free time to shadow specialties and build rapport with physicians. For instance, if you are interested in Neurology, you can access a BCM specific form portal (you'll have access as a student) to submit your shadowing request and then shadow for a day or whenever. You'll have more time to shadow during this period, whereas you'll be busying studying later on in the year.

And, I meant the security background check deposit will not cost $500. The deposit for the school is a different fee. Sorry for my mistake.
So you're telling me if I use code MCATThiccy at checkout I WON'T get the deposit discount? Bummer.

Are adcoms notified when a document is uploaded to the portal by an applicant? I uploaded an update letter last night directly to the portal and didn't want to bombard them and send an additional email if they are already alerted

If they pull up your file to discuss you in committee they will see it. Not much else to do

Any idea when scholarships are announced for Baylor? Is it after match even for prematched students?

scanning through last year's Baylor thread, there were some scholarships offered along with the pre-match offer, and some more offered a few weeks after your pre-match offer but before Match Day.

Dr. Cable mentioned in my call that they would get scholarship info to us sometime mid december
