2024-2025 Baylor

Hey guys! My interview is this week, but I didn't see the page to RSVP for the pre-interview social until last night. Did anyone else RSVP for their pre-interview social late (after noon on Monday)? The website has a zoom link and says you can access the event here if you RSVP after, but I just wanted to make sure that link is updated.

I had a late RSVP and was able to access the social.

I am planning to write a letter of intent for Baylor. Baylor's website says that they accept letters of intent but specifically says "but not updates to the application." However, all online resources I find about writing letters of intent say to include at least some small updates in your letters of intent. Wondering if anyone has any advice for writing a letter of intent specifically for Baylor. Thanks

Follow what Baylor says. A letter of intent is only meaningful if you have already interviewed

There are prematches coming out in 2-3 weeks.

A letter of intent to a place like Baylor means something to them only if you state you have comparable admissions but are willing to forgo to attend Baylor.
Would having a UTSW interview over a UTSW prematch move the needle with the LOI? They want people to rank them #1 in the match so they don’t have to fumble around the last couple months looking to fill spots? Thank you

My $0.02 - LOI is useful during match process after interviewing with some additional updates assuming one has prematches but want to provide a strong reason to the school they want to attend after ranking them 1. If one has interviewed at 5 places and has no matches, sending an LOI is a must but outcome is not guaranteed. One has a better shot having a prematch, ranking someone number 1 and then sending them a note.

By “sending an LOI is a must” you mean it could really help to show them you’re being looked at by 4 other institutions. At the Temple open house Dean Vallejo literally said something along the lines of “you can send an LOI, I guess” 😂 so he made it sound like they had no weight if anything

If someone has interviewed at several places but has no prematches I consider LOIs a must. It is quite possible you write an LOI to all the schools that gave you an interview, not particularly stating they are your number one choice because you need at least one admission to go to medical school.

from what I could find in previous threads they usually don’t release first wave of OOS until late Nov/early Dec? it’s changed year to year since they transitioned from AMCAS to TMDSAS I think

does anyone have an idea of when IS prematch offers will begin? They told us "early November" at my 8/23 interview. looks like crickets on cycletrack / admit.org so far

Based on previous cycles, next week is likely.

Last year it was *checks notes* ... Monday. ruh roh raggy

Unless @texasvandy 's crystal ball says otherwise, some of us could be getting great news on Veteran's Day!

just a reminder to anyone hoping for a pre match - it was repeatedly stated that baylor is not a pre match heavy school, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t get a pre match because you still can match on match day!

That’s right/ and most schools send out prematch offers 2 or 3 times before match day.
They are usually sent in batches, not trickled out day by day.

Historically, when do OOS students get accepted? Are they alongside the pre-match offers or are they more random?

Baylors timeframe has been between 15th to 25th of November. They used to be exactly the week of thanksgiving before joining tmdsas but little earlier since they joined?

This would be useful advice if I didn't have a massively fragile ego that gets shattered at the slightest indication of not being favored over others. (I'm developing a cluster B personality disorder with the purpose of matching into neurosurgery residency)

So far things appear to be more or less consistent with last year, so I'm thinking most start to go out December

true that, how will I prove to myself and my dog I’m not a failure?? idk what gluten free oatmeal oatmeal_27 is eating

anyone get any calls yet? not sure what time of day they start notifying - they may not even be sending any offers today

Some number near the Houston area kept calling me about an offer they had from the 'Bay Lord'. I guess it's a scammer from Galveston?
That’s weird. I got a scam call the other day from a guy who said he was from a South Western. I told him that’s mathematically impossible because those are two different directions and you can’t go south if you are going west 😂😂 😂😂 silly guy 😂😂

Congrats everybody! Do y’all think Baylor is done sending interviews since they’re offering mid December dates already?
