2024-2025 Hackensack Meridian

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Doing some of my own research I saw a match at NYU Ortho and Yale Rads. Couldn’t find much else.

The full list was posted last year in March so I’m not sure what’s up. What news did you hear?

I looked and in previous years it was also never officially published, just posted by a random sdn user under the match lists forum. Really confusing lol I guess its always just been internal with someone deciding to release it?

is this something I should be considered about? I heard not the best of news esp since its a newer school...
Not sure what your definition of a successful match would be because that could be gauged by the match rate, the institutions, your perception about specialties, but if you take those metrics into account broadly speaking, the match was successful. You don’t need to be considered about it.

It would still be nice to see some transparency for the match, rather than just "taking their word for it." Most schools publicly release their lists and it is nice for students to see and compare before committing. And no need to use an obvious typo as a condescending remark at the end.

Is it worth emailing admissions if I haven’t heard anything in a while?

I would contact them to see if they are still reviewing.

WL just now interviewed 3/20

Is a WL a soft rejection at Hackensack? I haven’t seen any rejections post interview.

Do we think there will be much WL movement? I noticed the new student GroupMe has 183 members right now, so seems like they could’ve filled most of the class already (given a small portion will likely leave).

There is so much bias with a lot of the stuff we see on SDN and groupme's.... the April 15th deadline just passed, and many people were either waitlisted or the people who had acceptances kept them or did not. If you refer to Hackensack's data from 2023, you can see that they gave out approx 240 acceptances to in-state students and only 83 attended. So there is a lot of our own bias by only tracking what happens in a groupme or SDN (This means maybe the class is nowhere near full or the class is full, we do not know). I would bet on yourself, and if you are fortunate to have another acceptance somewhere else, do not lose complete grasp on it whilst also keeping positive about a potential acceptance here. BUT do not only rely on waitlist movement for an A, and continue to ensure you are set up for the 2025 academic year. I wish you the best.

if you are interviewed, I am sure you will get a response... though only they know how many more acceptances they will give out.

I know I know, I’m looking too much into this. But to try and give some people hope (potentially false hope), I looked the at past couple years accepted student groupmes and the all have around 300-320 students (weird because the class is ~160). So there is definitely potential for many more As to go out. The current one is at 187.

Sad to say but if you haven't gotten an II yet in mid-April, it's safe to assume it's a rejection. You could luck out, but plan for something else in case. Best of luck!
Thanks! Thankfully I have other acceptances but I am confused about the ghosting. Doesn’t seem like the type of place to do that, makes me think somehow my application got lost in the ether

Hackensack is known to ghost and take ages to respond, if they respond at all

Anyone know how you go about finding housing or roommates at Hackensack? Couldn't attend the second look last week so couldn't meet other potential students there. Where is a good place to live that's nearby?

Try the accepted student chat maybe? Thought I saw someone posting about housing in there.
