Any current students on here or anyone who knows whether lectures are in person or only online? Recorded/required? Or anyone that can speak on details of the Urban Medicine Program??? 🙂

In a AAMC document it states the following information.
"Lecture Video Recording and AttendanceQuestions:
1) Are first and second year class lectures VIDEO recorded?
2) If first and second year class lectures are VIDEO recorded, when are they made available to students?
3) Are first or second year medical students required to attend lectures?"

"12. Indiana University School of Medicine
1) We have a 9 campus, 1 school model, so what is done at each campus is slightly different. A tour largest campus (~150 students), we do have video recording for virtually all first and second year large class lectures (there are still required small group courses that are not recorded, and frequently review lectures, etc. are not recorded)
2) Made available directly after each lecture
3) Students are not required to attend the large lectures (i.e. attendance is not taken), but again, there are other smaller courses that have required attendance. All of our other campuses have a much smaller number of students, so those classes are usually required.

This is pretty accurate. Lecture are pre-recorded and posted online. ALL campuses watch the same online lectures. The order you watch them might vary slightly from campus to campus, because the order is based on the order your campuses in-person small group sessions are scheduled (which is dictated by physician/facilitator availability). The lecture slides are all available online as well. Since lectures are entirely online, no attendance is taken. Small groups sessions are in person and mandatory attendance. The day/time of small groups can vary between campuses. Occasionally there are also other things scheduled like Grand Rounds or Zoom sessions that are mandatory attendance (usually in person for Indy students and virtual attendance for regional campus students OR virtual for all students). Some classes have sessions, like review or interactive sessions, that are optional attendance. Hope that helps.

Is this for all campuses or just the Indy one? Like in terms of online lecture + attendance? So how many days per week would you say students actually come in-person for things?

This is for all campuses. All campuses watch the exact same online lectures, take the exact same exams, etc. Yes, small group attendance is mandatory at all campuses BUT each campus has some discretion in how they schedule things. For example, it's possible for one campus to decide to do a small group virtually instead of in person. Campuses can also have small groups on completely different days/times. So "mandatory" means that you have to attend small groups at whatever day/time your campus has them scheduled for.

As a result, how many days students have to come in will vary by the campus, because each campus schedules things a little differently. For example, Northwest might schedule a 2 hour session in-person on Tuesday and a 2 hour session in-person on Wednesday, while South Bend might just combine those and have a 4 hour session in-person on Tuesday and nothing in person on Wednesday. On average, expect to come in between 3 and 5 days a week. In person things are usually between 2 and 4 hours long. I will say, MS2 has fewer in person days than MS1.

There are a few exceptions when something is scheduled statewide (ex. exams are at the same time for everyone statewide), meaning that everyone from every campus has to attend in some form. But the majority of the time your schedule is dictated by your campus.

Anyone who got accepted know what else there is to do? I accepted via the portal and mailed back the form they gave us, but besides that there isn't any deposit at this point right? I saw we have to send our transcripts but we probs don't have to do that now right?

I don’t think that’s necessarily true, I have a friend who is an M2 who interviewed early November and was accepted in December. I also just got the same email and I interviewed 10/30, so I’m hoping for good news for both of us next month!! 🥹❤️

same boat, interviewed 10/30, just got the 'remain under consideration' email. I think it's normal because I read in this thread that a decision takes at least 1.5-2 months to come out. Wish everyone good fortune!!

My Bday is Dec 19 right around when letters roll in. Can IUSM surprise me with an acceptance letter in the mail on that date 😏
 
So, are they only emailing OOS people? Or are the IS folks just not getting any A's this month

I have no clue, I'm OOS and have gotten anything, nobody else had said anything either just these two people so maybe they're gonna continue tmr??
 
IS A via email and received a physical letter in the mail. LM 65, interviewed in October.
