2024-2025 Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (Kansas City) KCU-COM

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They stated last group of interviews are in February. When I signed up for mine that’s what the email said 🤷‍♂️
Ah okay that's good to know. I'm gonna basically write this school off as an R and move on w/ life rip. Good luck and congrats to everyone who got As here!

Has anyone on the waitlist heard anything yet?
nope :/

However, most waitlist movement will happen in april and may when students have to commit to 1 MD school which will have a cascading effect into some DO schools as others are accepted or elect to attend elsewhere, that being said, dont except to have massive amounts of movement.

If someone from 2/11 has heard back before 1/27 group, does that indicate anything about our position?

I’m interested in getting involved in research at KCU-Joplin and was wondering if any current KCU-Joplin students (or those familiar with the campus) could share insight into research opportunities there. Are there faculty members actively involved in research, and how easy is it to get involved in projects? Any insight on the types of research happening at Joplin would be really helpful.

I’m planning to pursue pathology and was curious about any opportunities related to pathology at Joplin. Are there any pathology focused research projects, electives, or clinical experiences available locally? I know away rotations are an option in later years, but I’d love to hear if there are any local connections that could help.

If you want to do pathology you probably don’t even need to do research

There is a research club on campus for all students where you learn all things research. They hold meetings, send out opportunities, teach you how set up research, etc. There are plenty of faculty members that search for assistance from students, so as long as you're actively seeking those opportunities you will find it.

I have no clue about pathology focused projects. There is a pathology club I believe but hopefully someone else on here has more info on that!

In the words of Lee Corso, Not so fast my friend. Pathology is getting more competitive each year if you watch the trends of the NRMP data. And it seems that more and more students are interested in pathology each year. That said, KCU does have research, but to be honest I found it pretty sparse. Everyone seems to be clamoring to do projects, but there really isnt enough faculty to go around. Research is nice, but it isn't necessary (unless you want to do derm or neruosurgery or something super duper competitive). Depending on what campus you are on, I dont think there is a pathology club but you can start one.

If you're interested in pathology, you can try to make connections by going to national conferences, and by reaching to pathologists and seeing if you are able to see what they do.

Might be overthinking this, but does anyone have insight into a dress code/proper attire for accepted students day?

For those that sent their interview thank you letters to the admissions email address, did any of you all get a reply from them? I sent mine the day of my interview but never heard back...
Also I am dying to get a decision...does anyone know if the class if full yet? 🥹

My whole application cycle I never got a reply to any interview thank you letters. I did get a response from various emails to admissions committees. At this point in the cycle I would probably consider an update letter or letter of intent if it is your top school choice.

I applied in late July. Received my secondary a week later. Then received an II in late Oct. but didn’t have my actual interview until Feb.
