2024-2025 Massachusetts

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Standard MMI. All situation/ethical questions, no acting. You have 2 minutes to read the prompt/question, take notes, think of an answer, etc. After the 2 minutes is up, they remove the question from the screen and you have 6 minutes to answer the question and any follow-ups the interviewer has. Some of the questions are dumb as hell, some are pretty straightforward.

If you happen to get the dean (I think Tracy is her name), be prepared to get grilled. She grilled the crap out of me (and others said the same). But I think she cares more about how you handle the pressure than how good your actual answers are (cause my answers sucked but I held my composure).

A mistake I made was that one of the questions was so short and easy to answer that I finished "gathering my thoughts" after thirty seconds and then had to sit there in silence for another minute and a half, which is a crazy long time when you're just staring blankly at your interviewer. I zoned out and when it was time to answer the question, I COMPLETELY forgot what the prompt was. Don't make that same mistake lol.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this out! Do you happen to remember how many stations you had?

I got the same email. I am 100% sure though that I did not miss any email on Feb 6th. I went back and checked more than once. I hope this isn't some mistake on their end because I got pretty hyped up for the interview. Were you able to get in touch with anyone from the office? I haven't heard back from them yet.
Confirmed today there was a glitch, call the admin office if you haven’t heard back yet.

7 stations. Sometimes applicants may do 6 stations with a break period. Depends on the number of interviewers and interviewees.

Is a letter of intent without updates accepted before receiving an interview decision?

Per MSAR they accept letters of interest (not intent) from individuals who have not yet interviewed. MSAR does not say if they accept letters of intent; I sent one after I interviewed. If you have not interviewed yet, I would highly recommend that your letter of interest contains updates.

This is for post-II, but I have no updates at all. Very hesitant to submit a letter of intent that basically says the same thing on my secondary.

Yeah that is tough. Are you volunteering, working, in school right now etc? Your updates could just be that you've continued X activities from your primary app and have accumulated X number of hours? Additionally, if in school, you could update them on winter semester grades. I would be hesitant to sent a letter of intent without updates.

At what point is it safe to assume it’s a Post-II R? I saw on last year’s thread that most people get an A if they hear back within 2-3 months or even earlier. 3-4months onward is more like WL or R depending on when they receive the notification as closer to April 30 is R territory probably

My pre-med advisor who is in close contact with the Dean said most decisions will be made by the end of March. Hold out on pessimism and self loathing until then.

🙏 it does seem like they’re slower compared to 2024 cycle. Best wishes to all of us still waiting

Bless you for this update. I will cease pessimism and self-loathing until that time. Quick question tho, how do I do that?

I have a publication that was just accepted recently. I am currently waitlisted. Does anyone have any ideas for when I should submit my update/continued interest? Im thinking of waiting a bit since waitlist movement won't be anytime soon?

Tbh for this I’d make a separate post so usually the admins on SDN can weigh in on your situation. We can give you suggestions, but we all don’t have as much experience as others like Goro or MrSmile12

Good luck 🙏 I hope you get off the WL!

Would you mind pointing me in the direction of where to make said thread? I don't know if theres a specific forum topic for these type of questions. Thank you!

I’ve seen some posts about LOIs under the Pre-Medical sub-forum. You can post there!

Is there an accepted students groupme or anything to join? I'm waiting to be admitted to the FB group but am not sure if there's another place for accepted students to chat 🙂 thanks in advance!

my fellow Massachusetts residents waiting to hear back post interview months ago... how we feeling?
Truthfully, I feel disappointed. As a Massachusetts resident my entire life, I have nothing but love for my home state and it hurts waiting for months to hear about the one interview I am counting on for an acceptance. But, it is out of my control for the moment.

Unfortunately went through this song and dance in the 2023 cycle, early ass interview and ghosted until the end. I am not too hopeful at this point. Hate to be the pessimist but I saw this exact scenario play out to too many people that cycle. Umass has one of the worst admission cycles in terms of clarity and communication with applicants

Do you guys think we will hear back this Friday or more so closer to the end of the month?

Based on 2023-2024 cycle track, there was a gap in between mid Feb & first Friday of March. Now that interviews are done, I’m hoping they release some decisions this Friday. Preferably more decisions than the week before… but it’ll probably still follow the weekly Friday schedule up until 4/25

edit: I'm wrong, I saw on 3/1/2024 people reported results on SDN

For those who have gotten acceptances, was it an email or a call or both? Trying to practice my visualization for manifestation purposes lol
If you're applying to PURCH or Lead@Lahey, I believe they call you! I received a Lahey acceptance call on Thursday night and then the official email came ~3 days later on Monday : )

Omg! When was that Thursday, if you don’t mind sharing?

For the sake of my mental health I’m gonna assume that someone at UMass decided to send me an interview invite for memes 💀 it was too good to be true anyways. This is my only II and it’s been 12 weeks of declining mental health 🤠 I already sent them a letter of intent and I can’t do anything more at this point.
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

-Dylan Thomas
