are we allowed to reach out to the admissions people and ask for a status update/has anyone tried that? this is the longest ive had to wait for a "rolling" decision and giving us a range of 1 month to "before 4/30" is actually just so ****ty and disrespectful to applicants.

I interviewed on 9/24, sent an LOI mid January and still have heard nothing. I reached out to admissions around 2 weeks ago asking if they can provide me with an update due to scholarship opportunity deadlines and deposit deadlines for other schools. They sent me an email back stating they follow AMCAS policies and I will hear back no later than 4/30. Unless you have a significant update or want to send an LOI I wouldn’t bother emailing admissions for an update.

They really do suck, I am so glad I do not need to bank my future on them. Their entire process is god awful

Thankfully neither do I, but it does leave a sour taste in my mouth since this was my #1 and my partner is currently in the process of moving to the area. Interviewing in September made me think I had an actual shot at getting in. Pretty much just waiting for a rejection letter on 4/30 now, which will be 218 days post interview lol.

Same deal with me, they were in my top because of the savings compared to other schools and the proximity to friends and family. also interviewed mid Sept, and also expecting my R there. I even did my interpreters licensing program through their in house program and everything, so much for getting a leg up lol.

I did undergrad in Worcester and have a lot of connections to the area which is why I think I got an interview in the first place. For anyone who might be reading the forum next year, do not get your hopes up if you get an early interview. You will spend every Friday after then severely disappointed if you don’t hear anything until the end of April.

Have any accepted students heard about financial aid yet? I emailed them back in January and they said they plan to send out packages "beginning of March" but I haven't received anything yet.

Or, do people know if the WL is chronological or ranked?
I don't know how many waitlists have been given out, but I am pretty sure they don't rank their waitlisted applicants. When a spot opens up, anyone who has chosen to remain on the waitlist is considered for the spot.

Any February interviews hear back yesterday? Or are we thinking end of the month?

If you're applying to PURCH or Lead@Lahey, I believe they call you! I received a Lahey acceptance call on Thursday night and then the official email came ~3 days later on Monday : )
I was accepted to PURCH and didn’t receive a call so I think it depends!

I was accepted in Dec and have filled out all the required paperwork, and have not heard re: aid. I also wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed since so many programs have been impacted by NIH/grant cuts and/or the impending doom of the department of Ed.

All of my documents on the portal went from “Not Reviewed” to “Received” over the weekend so my guess is they will be releasing them this week hopefully.

Missed a call from a medical center in Boston this morning and immediately started getting delulu (this is my last potential MA school). Went through a bunch of googling and tried to call back, turns out it was most likely just a phishing scheme where they spoof the number to target veterans. WORST TIMING EVER. Stay safe out there, y’all 😅

🥲 it be like that. But from what I know, UMass only calls on Thursdays and it seems like MD track applicants don’t get a call. Maybe because PURCH and LEAD are smaller cohorts they do

A couple weeks ago MGH called me bc I requested an appt.. but I thought it was maybe UMass… lol… 🗿

ROUGH! Glad I at least am not involved with their systems outside of the med school app.

Yeah, I immediately got fishy because I was pretty sure they only called later in the week. But I applied LEAD and I was pretty sure one of my interviewers mentioned working at a VA center…que the delulu! It’s like the scammers want to hurt me, lol

Holy macaroni. The MD/PhD program just rescinded all PhD admissions due to funding issues. They still offer admission to the MD program but with no coverage of tuition or funds.

"I hope you are doing well. Today I am writing to share a difficult update regarding your provisional offer of admission to the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at UMass Chan Medical School for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Due to ongoing uncertainties related to federal funding of biomedical research, UMass Chan, along with many of our peer universities, is facing significant challenges in ensuring stable dissertation research opportunities for incoming students. Unfortunately, as a result, we must rescind all offers of admission for PhD programs beginning in the Fall 2025 term.

Importantly, your offer of admission to the T.H. Chan School of Medicine at UMass Chan will be honored. However, this offer of admission to the MD program does not include a stipend or a waiver of tuition and fees. Therefore, applicants who choose to matriculate into the T.H. Chan School of Medicine will be responsible for paying tuition and fees.

This is not a decision that was made lightly, and we understand how disappointing this news may be. Based on your strong academic qualifications and potential, we sincerely regret that circumstances beyond our control have led to this outcome.

Should you wish to join our program in a future admissions cycle, we would be pleased to extend priority consideration without requiring you to reapply. If you decide to pursue this option, please email XXXXXX so we can discuss next steps.

We deeply appreciate your interest in UMass Chan Medical School and wish you the very best in your academic and professional journey.

Please respond to this acceptance offer via our XXXXX portal. Select the Application Action tile on your homepage and follow the prompts to submit your reply or reach out to the Office of Admissions at T.H. Chan School of Medicine at XXXXXXXX with any questions."

Still making the MD/PhD students pay tuition after pulling the rug out from under them like this is insanity. UMass is a joke wtf

wonder if all schools are going to eventually do that. NYU did that also. I dont think those guys were absorbed in MD program either.

Absolutely heartbreaking for everyone impacted by this. I’m in disbelief honestly

It sounds like per the email that they were offered an MD spot. NYU did the same thing, where they rescinded the MD/PhD offers and gave them all MD spots. Heartbreaking none-the-less.
