Unfortunate question but I wonder if pulling the MD/PHD program acceptances will lead to more waitlist movement as people with other offers go elsewhere?
Unclear because its an extremely uncertain time for PhD programs/research. I did not apply MD/PhD, but I would personally go elsewhere if I had other MD/PhD offers. However, with the uncertainty over the next 4 years, I am sure there are people who would just accept doing an MD since there is no guarantee that other programs won't take the same hit now or in the future. MDs can still do research and are often much more career-stable since they don't fully rely on grant money to pay salaries .

IS interviewed in mid sept. Purch/MD. Holding out hope until end of March but I just want to let everyone know if you are feeling stressed out we are all in this together, there are thousands of pre-meds holding their breath for a decision. try to make the most of your time, doing things you enjoy. It will all work out.

Please UMass just end it here, I can't be bothered to wait until the end of April again

Still haven't received anything since my December interview... no WL, active consideration, or R, anyone else in the same boat?

A lot of us are still waiting regardless of when we’ve interviewed. But I guess UMass might be rolling out more decisions this Friday. I wasn’t expecting the post-II R to come this early. IIRC last cycle they pretty much kept everyone waiting until 4/30 (but also sampling bias on SDN).

I think 1 person on SDN reported a post-II R in march

I lost hope months ago but how have they not sent an R or WL yet? I interviewed 9/18 and I know multiple other people that already got rejected just a couple weeks post- interview. This is wild, 6 months for a decision is disrespectful

I really think tomorrow is the day. If you're like me and have been waiting since sept. there is a good chance you either get a WL or an A at this point. I think my logic is decent, your application has made it through many rounds of rejection and if they new they were going to reject you they would have done it by now. Thats my two cents.

Your logic is sound... until you realize that UMass has literally rejected august interviewees at the very end of April. They have no sense or timeline it is truly anyone's guess

It's crazy because students really seem to like it at UMass, but their admissions process is by far the worst of all medial schools. Coming from an applicants perspective, it's hard to like a school that leaves a bad taste in your mouth from the beginning. I just don't understand why they think their way of doing it is good

While this is true, and their process is very unpredictable, I think they may be tweaking it a little after giving out decisions throughout the week rather than just on Fridays. I interviewed in September, so if I don't hear back this month, I'll assume it is a rejection. I won't lie surviving the first round of post-II rejections has given me a confidence boost, which may come back to bite me lol.

Well tbh we don’t know how many post-II Rs have been handed out. Wasn’t there a comment earlier on this thread where the OP said he knew some people who got post-II Rs weeks after their interviews? That’s a very fast turnaround.

We might just be really unlucky with the sample size on SDN

My buddy interviewed in late feb and just got the R on Tuesday.

Anyone hear anything from LEAD recently? My MD/LEAD interviews were in late oct….

How many As do we think have been given out/how full does the class seem atp?
I might be coping, but this year around the same time I believe their admitted FB group was near 300 people, but this year it is only at 154. So either they are running behind this year, or less people are using FB this year.

has anyone else gotten decisions today because I'm OOS and had II Janaury 23rd and 30th for purch and MD but still have under review on my portal? also the portal was just working for me this morning but now it isn't loading

Portal is working fine for me right now

One more March Friday 😵‍💫Either the people getting into UMass this year don’t use Facebook, or UMass doesn’t want a lot of people to attend second look lol

Did they admit a lot of people the last two Fridays of the year last cycle?

This is my first time applying to UMass so unfortunately I do not know the answer lol. All I know is that, based on last years SDN thread, there were a lot more people in the Class of 2028 FB group around this time… but also for all we know, the FB group for c/o 2029 could balloon into 250 next week.

There was a comment from a few weeks ago where OP said their premed advisor was in touch with the UMass adcom or something and that most decisions would be released by the end of March, but I don’t really know if that’s gonna happen. Most of us will probably have to wait until April 30. I pray that’s not the case though.

Ya a lady I spoke to earlier this month said they hope to get most decisions out by the end of the month but if the Facebook group is that much smaller, I don’t know about that 😭 unless today they release more decisions and next week is a whole lot

I doubt it though and think you’re right, a majority of them will be next month but everyone I know is telling me to prep for applying again because the chances of getting an A that late is low. But then I’m like UMass doesn’t seem to operate like everyone else

Idk with the state of the government right now, maybe they are running behind with all admissions. Since UMass is a state school don't they receive a lot of funding from the federal government in general, not just for research?

True so you think there’s still lots of As to be given out then?

maybe i'm coping, but i would imagine yes.... i think they had a hiring freeze too which might've slowed everything down. it seems odd if like 50% less people are using facebook this year compared to last year.

True that’s a significant decrease and I forgot today was match day 😭 I was really hoping lots of decisions would be sent out today. Hopefully next week because the end of April is way too far out

My premed advisor told me I would defintely hear back by end of march I interviewed in sept. Maybe she is wrong honestly.
