I got an II on 11/18. However, the earliest date available to sign up was 1/21. Mercer is one of my top choices, so this is very exciting! However, is 1/21 too late in Mercer's interview cycle to have a good chance for an A?

If you got an II then you have a chance for acceptance, they wouldn't interview you for no reason. Don't over think the timing just do well on your interview and you should have a good chance of being accepted.

Is there an accepted groupme?
I would hope that current Mercer students, especially the student ambassadors, would start it up so that it can also turn into a Q&A and/or a way to smooth out the transition from undergrad or gap year to med school.

Do y'all think Mercer is still sending II out, or is the class pretty much full? I applied RD and was "complete" 9/20. I guess they were still reviewing my residency info because everything else was already in? I heard from someone I know who is connected to Mercer that "MUSM is very interested in you," but I guess not because my inbox is full of tumbleweeds and I still have no II... 😢

Starting to feel like my chances of getting in here are dwindling. Been complete since mid July.

I know that interview invites are extended until 1/25/25 so until then, I’m gonna remain hopeful and honestly just enjoy the holidays. At the end of the day, rejections happen and if that’s my fate here, then I’m gonna treat it as a redirection and proceed with my life.

Encourage y’all to do the same and try to avoid the anxiety that comes with the wait 🙂

When is the last day they are extending interview invites - does anyone know?
January 27, 2025 at 5:00PM EST I believe
Update: "Should you be selected by the Admissions Committee for an interview, you will receive an invitation via e-mail by 5:00 PM ET January 27, 2025. " -- MUSM Adcoms

II 12/11/2024! Complete mid August!
Congrats! Do you mind answering if you had rural medicine experience or grew up in a rural community? I know Mercer emphasizes mission fit very strongly, but I do know someone from metro Atlanta like myself who applied ED and got accepted. Unlike my co-worker, I did not have the cojones to apply ED with no rural background, so I am curious to see which RD applicants are getting II.

You didn’t ask me but I got an II in mid November, I’m also from Atl with no rural background. I instead focused on my experience with underserved communities

Thanks! I grew up in metro Atlanta, but I went to college in a more rural area kind of. I definitely had more experience with working in undeserved communities. I did write about volunteering in a bigger city center where people from more rural areas came to.

Has anyone who was accepted recieved the acceptance packet they were going to send within 15 business days of the acceptance email?

Does anyone know what Mercers post interview acceptance rate is? Also any tips on how to prepare/do well on the interview.

It’s currently my only II so I want to really knock it out the park

The post interview acceptance rate is about 35 percent.

For those that got accepted, how long did it take to hear back post interview?? I interviewed 11/7 , this is my top choice and the waits been killing me lol

It is traditional. I mainly practiced using this website: Mercer University School of Medicine.
People who have previously interviewed there have shared questions that were asked during their interview, so it is a great resource. You can try to practice answering them on your own, but mock interviews are also very effective. Whether with family, friends, or a pre-health advisor. As long as you are able to meet with people who will give your feedback on your answers and your overall interview skills. If you’re able, try to have multiple mock interviews before your actual interview day in order to make you more comfortable. Also, when people give you feedback, either have them write some of the feedback, or write your own notes about their feedback, so that you can refer to it when you are doing some preparation alone. Good luck!

Any advice on the interview format? Is it mmi or traditional?

Mine was traditional with [emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]] interviewers, relatively relaxed. All fairly standard questions and felt very conversational. They’ve got your file and LORs pulled up, so just be familiar and consistent with your answers. FWIW my two interviewers were fantastic and they put effort into making it an engaging experience instead of a one sided QA

I'm super interested in MUSM. However, I haven't gotten an interview invite since applying. Is it okay to reach out to ask about it? Is there anything I can do to maximize my chances of getting an interview in the meantime?

I also have the same question!

You can write one update to your application, but you need to make sure its meaningful. Just one or two small things isn't worth sending in alone. They want to see you starting new rural volunteering opportunities or becoming a leader in an area where you weren't before. The key being rural and under-served community experiences. I can't emphasize enough just how important these are to Mercer, they can make or break your whole application.

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately, I have a super long commute to work so I don't have the time to do that yet. Would it be considered unprofessional to just ask when the last day they send II's is and reaffirm that I'm interested?

Its not unprofessional to sent a LOI and get follow up information. I know several current students who did the same.

Is it okay if it's not a LOI? While I'm VERY interested, I am still unsure of my current standing and don't want to lie.
