Is there a current student at Northstate who I could talk to? I was accepted to the dental program but nobody there seems to be willing to talk so might as well shoot my shot here 😐. I had a couple basic questions about rent, lifestyle, nearby amenities, etc. that could help me decide which institution to attend. Thanks in advance!

I got an II just before Christmas Break and the Interview was held on the 10th of January! I am not sure if any have gone out since then, Cycletrack reports just one being sent out on the 14th though! Sorry I can't be more helpful.
 
Does anyone (ideally with personal experience) have insight on whether CNUCOM is likely to retain accreditation? Their survey visit is in February and we'll probably only know their accreditation situation by June or July, which makes things awkward for matriculants. This school was my only interview and acceptance so far and it seems unlikely to get anything else this late into the cycle, so I'm probably stuck with it for better or worse.

just got my first ii from this entire cycle for this school! was wondering if anyone had any tips on how the interview is structured/how to prep/etc. thanks in advance!

Starts off with one MMI then flows into a traditional interview, was super chill for me and both people were easygoing. I'd say just get familiar with how MMI format can look like and go over your app, you got this! I interviewed on 11/01 and got the A on 11/20

Hi Everyone,

The school had their last LCME visit shortly after the new dean started, I think around Dec 2023. The school had made significant progress towards accreditation compliance, but the LCME needed to confirm that the changes were sustainable, hence the additional probationary year. The new dean is fantastic and has been there for > 1 year to enact/sustain changes. He is confident that they will achieve full accreditation.

Congrats to those with the A here and good luck to those with the II/awaiting the A!

Okay y'all. I have an upcoming interview 2/21 (Stats: ORM, OOS, LM 70, MCAT: 514, GPA: 3.85). I haven't done an MMI style interview before, so I've just been focusing on finding 10 stories/experiences that support the AAMC core competencies along with normal interview preparation. I know there is an NDA, but for those who have interviewed, does anyone have any general tips?

Having stories that could be used is a very good start. I recently got rejected after an interview despite having very similar stats. I seriously believe it was the interview for me that got me rejected although I felt generally confident after it. I seriously fumbled during my first MMI and the only thing I would say: prepare for the most out-of-pocket questions ever. Good luck.

Prepare for mmi style and traditional interview questions you will be fine! Good luck!!

I just sent them over to CNUCOM's admissions email and asked them to forward it to each interviewer, they responded that same day!

if i interviewed last week, does anyone think i might be able to hear back about a decision before the end of march/beginning of april? i really don't want to start the reapplication process but... :')

Not super helpful but I interviewed 1/10 and haven’t heard back yet. They told me 8-10 weeks before an answer

My acceptance came in November, 7 weeks after my interview. I'd been told that I'd probably get a decision earlier since I was in one of the earlier interview groups, so I wouldn't count on getting a decision any quicker than that.

I interviewed 10/18 and got accepted 11/5 but that was earlier in the cycle so not sure about now.

Though it may seem like a nice thing to do, schools typically don’t want you sending TY emails and they don’t really improve your chances.

First school: The Dean told us how to submit thank you letters. This was on a Friday afternoon and he told us to submit them before Monday.

Second school: The director of admissions told us how to submit thank you letters and mentioned they were appropriate for anyone we wanted to thank.

Medical school isn't just about getting in. It's also about building relationships. My area of research aligns with my interviewer's. He said he wanted me on his team. I sent him a thank you briefly mentioning our common interest. If I go there, I've already started our relationship.

Agree. My apologies. Good luck to you. You can always send your email/letters to the admissions coordinator in the med school and they will forward to the attending who interviewed you. Take care.
 
Need some advice y'all....

This is my only A this cycle. I'm on 4 WLs. Is it worth attending this school? I'm strongly considering reapplying if I don't hear back from the WLs.

4 WLs? There is a high chance you’ll get off at least one of those. Where are the WLs?

I believe you have until May to finalize right? I would hold off rejecting the offer til as late as possible. Additionally, they just finished their accreditation survey so school should know more where they stand soon. Take care.

I pulled this from the dean’s monthly blog from the CNUCOM website:

I wanted to take a moment to update you on the outcome of the WSCUC Survey that took place last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, January 29, 30, and 31.

I had the privilege of attending the exit conference, where I heard directly from the team leadership regarding the survey results.

Overall, the feedback from the survey was overwhelmingly positive for CNU. A surveyor with expertise in the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) from Stanford reviewed our LCME briefing book, and I am pleased to share that he offered high praise for the work, progress, and accomplishments we have achieved in the College of Medicine (COM).

The university received commendations for the alignment of our mission across the enterprise and for our strong performance in program review/continuous performance improvement.

If the WSCUC survey is a proxy for the LCME survey, then this is a good sign. And I agree with the above poster, there may be some signaling before the CTE date as to how the LCME survey went, including at the March information session.

I know first hand that the school is solid. So I would definitely consider the school esp if you don’t have a solid acceptance. Good luck.

I would like to add that I know first hand that the school is solid. So I would definitely consider the school esp if you don’t have a solid acceptance elsewhere. I know many students who graduated from this medical school who have gotten into amazing residency programs and have had strong leadership roles in their respective residency programs. Several have become chief residents in their program.

Between the info session & the 2025 match day results happening this month, I think we'll all be a lot more informed about the CNUCOM situation very soon.

FYI. CNU’s match has always been impressive. They typically match above 95%. So they definitely do well there and they match into some really impressive programs.

Wonder if the WSCUC recognized that two individuals listed as holding leadership positions (Vice Chair of Clinical Education & Chair of Clinical Science) on the institution's website no longer actually work there?

If they did not, the smoke and mirrors strategy is working.
