2024-2025 OCOM Secondary Prompts:
The application allows you to enter Work, Volunteer and Shadowing Experiences not included in AACOMAS Application.

There is only one short answer question this year (it is required, no limit is indicated):
1. Is there any additional information about your academic record that you would like the Admissions Committee to know? Please include any academic difficulties or course withdrawals.

Good luck to everyone applying!

In-State II received today! The same questions listed in AACOMAS! Good luck everyone!!

Did anyone have trouble paying the $50 secondary application fee? I submitted the secondary but never received a prompt to pay.

Hmm what would be an example of this? My lowest grade was a B. I read normally you leave it blank if you don't got much to talk about. Should I just say none? Bit confused thanks 🙂

Well I unfortunately had a C to talk about lol.

Bc it seems to be required, if I were you I would either briefly talk about the hardest course you took (or lowest grade) and what you learned from it (study habits, resiliance, etc.) OR just put "I do not any additional information". I don't think you can go wrong with either tbh.

Ah nice idea on talking about study habits. As it prompt doesn't seem to be asking directly about grades but just academic records. Though as I have multi Bs not just in one semester(mainly in my Freshman and sophomore year) . Maybe I can talk about the semester where I got 2 Bs. And talk about how I learned to balance work load better and adjust to college study habits. Or maybe just say no additional info.
Decisions to be made. Hmmm...
Thanks for the idea!

Interview invite IS today 6/26!

Secondary submitted: 6/14
50X (low MCAT), 3.1 science GPA, 4.0 postbacc. Good luck everyone 💕

The secondary prompt is the same as the prompt in the primary, and I already responded to it in the primary... Should I write a different response or the same one?

Any interview tips? This will be my first interview. I am surprised OCOM is still taking interviews for 2023-2024 cycle. Not sure how many seats are still available since I am interviewing very late.
was looking through the comments from last years thread bc I have an August interview scheduled for 2025 matriculation, here is what someone said:
"everyone was super friendly! you speak to a faculty member and a member of the admissions team and they ask you why DO, why OCOM, and other typical interview questions. i would prep those answers and also look over the OCOM website to learn more about the school. good luck!"

Additionally, it seems from the comments that the interview was open-file, so they can see/use your application to come up with questions.

Hello! I have a Guaranteed Acceptance Spot for next year. For those who interviewed, did anyone get an A yet?

In-state acceptance today! I got their acceptance package in the mail, no email from them yet. Their package was so awesome, this school puts so much effort in and made me feel so welcome during my interview and tour.

Interviewed 8/7, 3.72 cGPA, 3.54 sGPA, 508 MCAT
Congrats!! that’s awesome 💕💕 my interview is this week! any tips for the interview??

Thank you! I think if you want to practice, you should practice questions like why medicine, why DO, why OCOM, how you feel about being a part of a new school, etc. Make sure to read over your activites as questions were specific to my experiences and also make sure you have an answer about any weaknesses on your app 🙂

There are two interviews, and both of mine were very conversational with the interviewers being so happy I was there. I felt they were rooting for me, not against me. I know it's hard not to be nervous (at least it was for me) but once you start the interview, the time flies by. Also be sure to have questions ready for the interviewer about the school

Got the official acceptance email! The decision deadline given is September 20, 2024. Seems like they give a month to decide, for any future students accepted 🙂

+1 they also gave a phone call stating acceptance into the program has been designated.

I put N/A and got an OOS II today, if I had to guess it may have been accidental to make it required, but you probably couldn't go wrong with writing about your hardest course.

Do you know if the acceptance contract is still binding?

I dont think it is, it says in the contract you can email to withdraw from program.
I think there was a discussion on last year's thread. It seems like they responded to the feedback by changing the system so that there is now a $100 fee deposit. On the Enrollment Contract it says "A student may voluntarily withdraw their acceptance with the University by contacting the Office of Admissions at [email protected]" and there is no mention of the bindingness of the agreement in the form.

Thank you so much!!

Extreme caution to anyone applying/accepting here. Looking at last year's thread there are a bunch of red flags. Self-directed learning (no lectures) but an insane tuition without approval for federal loans! (what are you paying for?). Yes, most students during pre-clinical do not go to non-mandatory lectures, but still should happen lol. New school so they are figuring out a lot about the curriculum. No established rotation sites with a stance of "we'll figure it out by the student's 3rd year" so who knows where you're going, and good luck 4th year setting up your own rotations. There is a reason they were desperately trying to fill their class last cycle. Stay away unless it is your only chance to be a doc.

Hi, OSM-1 here at OCOM. SDL means you study independently but under guidance. They provide you with materials to study, and you follow a set schedule. You have three mandatory days at school for CBL, Anatomy Lab, OMM, clinical skills, etc., with faculty—one instructor for a group of 6 or 7 people. There are also two whole days for SDL on Monday and Friday. This gives you the chance to visit your family during the weekend, like I do.
They now have a long list of rotation sites around Central Florida, including options outside the US for electives if you're interested.

I got accepted but need to send my decision by 09/29. Would it be a problem if I accepted the offer and decided to withdraw later in the cycle?
Still waiting for MD

Nope! They took out the binding contract on their website.

Yet they mentioned it on an acceptance document. I also heard that if you reject them after they let other medical schools know. If you can, do not accept unless you re going to OCOM.
Not for this year's acceptance document. I have not seen any evidence that they still have this policy on any document I have read from this year.

On the Enrollment Contract it says "A student may voluntarily withdraw their acceptance with the University by contacting the Office of Admissions at [email protected]" and there is no mention of the bindingness of the agreement in the form.

Yup! Thanks for clarifying 😊

For those of you who already had your virtual interviews, can you share what the interview format is like? How many interviewers are there? Is it MMI format?

For those who received an II recently, what days were available for you?

I know they changed their requirement 500 to recommendation but has anyone sub 500 actually ever been accepted here or was that changed just to get more apps in??😵‍💫
