Interviewed today. Felt pretty good about it. How did y'all with A's feel after interviewing?

For those accepted. How long after the A did it take for you to receive instructions on how to make a deposit. The email said 24-48 hours; however, I was accepted last Thursday and have yet to get the instructions.

I received it the next day. I would wait one more day before reaching out since they could've been busy Friday-Sunday.

I appreciate it! I’ll be sure to reach out to them tomorrow afternoon if I don’t hear anything back.

I got an email saying my application has been reviewed and will remain under review. Is this a soft R?

OOS II today, the only option is in person so sent an email about either future dates or if anything opens up.

My interview day started at 9:00AM (I think? I know it was at least close to that time). It ended around 5:00PM. If you're not from the area, you'd probably want to get there the night before, but you should be able to leave that night.

Hi, can anyone give context on the interview day times like for the overall presentation and then individual interviews ? I can't find it within the portal and I am trying to see if I can work that day.

Interview times are scheduled (for today's cohort at least) for individual 30 min interview sometime between 10am-11:30am CST or 2-3pm CST, a ~1.5 hr presentation between these two times given by admin about student life. Finally there's an *optional but highly recommended* panel session from 4-5PM CST. depending on your individual interview time slot, you ~may~ be able to work later in the day should your work schedule allows and if you skip the student panel at the end of the day.

Thank you for responding! I will just take that day off in that case.

Hi guys! I submitted majority of my primaries including ACOM 10 days ago and was verified around 4 days ago. I've gotten my secondaries from most schools but haven't gotten anything from ACOM yet. Do you guys think its worth reaching out to them or should I wait a bit more to see if they send over the secondary? Any help or advice would be appreciated!

For those that flew in to interview in person, where did y'all stay?
I didn’t fly, however, I stayed at a hotel that was like 3 minutes away and on the same road: Comfort inn & suites. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t horrible. Good enough for the night.

First year here!! Feel free to message me if you have any questions 🙂 Congrats to all the As!

For those that got interviews, when did they email you to give you the time and link for the interview?

OOS II today! Secondary submitted 09/13/2024

But it looks like all of the interview spots are full

11/15
11/22
11/18
12/06
12/13
12/16

Anyone in the same boat?

OOS II today, but could only register for an in-person interview 12/13/24. I’m traveling from WA state so sent an email to ask about other dates/virtual. They said this: “Please allow 90 minutes to a couple of hours for all dates to populate. We will be releasing additional virtual dates soon, so please keep an eye on your microsite for those to be added for our Spring dates.”

You should try to go to the in person especially if it's sooner rather than later. In my opinion in person interview will reflect a lot better for you as it shows you are that dedicated that you are traveling to their school. This is what i've heard from current DO students and my advisor and it makes sense. Congrats on the ii!

Ok that's good to know! I was kind of thinking that too. I'll bite the bullet and buy the tickets! Thank you!

The average MCAT for the last 4 classes has varied between 503 and 505. I hope this helps!
Hi,

How is the preclinical curriculum at ACOM setup? Is it P/F and systems based? Overall how have you liked ACOM and would you choose this school again if you were applying currently?

Thank you so much for all of your help, it is much appreciated.

Hey! The preclinical curriculum at ACOM is graded (A, B, C, F; no plus/minus; 10 point increments) and is systems-based. You take anatomy and molecular medicine (combination of biochem, micro, genetics, etc.) the first semester, but then you'll be doing systems for the other 3 semesters. The order of systems when I was going through (should be the same, but I'm not sure if it's changed) was as follows:
  • Second semester (spring of first year)
    • Neuro
    • Musculoskeletal
    • Heme/Lymph
    • Derm
  • Third semester (fall of second year)
    • Cardio
    • Pulm
    • Renal
  • Fourth semester (spring of second year)
    • Endo/Repro
    • GI
You will also take semester-long Osteopathic Practices and Principles (OPP), Primary Clinical Skills (PCS), and Foundations of Modern Healthcare (FMHC) courses during each semester.

I've had a fantastic experience at ACOM, especially with regards to the faculty and students. The people at ACOM are actually a significant part of the reason why I decided to attend the school. My interview experience made me feel so warm and welcomed (even over Zoom). The vast majority of my class is very supportive and collaborative. We have group chats and a discord server devoted to sharing study guides/resources, and people will constantly share discount codes and practice questions. As far as other pros of the school, the simulation program and clinical rotations are top-notch. I've felt very prepared for my rotations, and I've had a great experience with them, as well.

A lot of the cons are things that you'll see at most medical schools and are not really ACOM specific. The dress code is business casual (polo/khakis/nice blouse, etc.) or scrubs, so pretty much everyone wears scrubs to class every day. As I said before, classes are graded on that A/B/C/F scale, so that can add a little extra stress over P/F. Regarding the attendance policy, my hope is that they'll keep it optional going forward (it's been largely optional since 2021, so I hope they keep the same policy for future classes).

If I had to apply to med school again, I would absolutely apply to and attend ACOM again! I've gotten everything out of my med school experience that I could have wanted, and I hope that y'all decide to join us! Feel free to reach out any time with questions, and I'll do my best to get back to you, ASAP.
