Will the school favor applicants from Nevada even though they are a private school?

Edit: Yes they favor Nevada applicants BIG TIME, LOL

Does anyone know if they'll be accepting apps from Canadian applicants?

  • Applicants must have obtained a baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada prior to matriculation.
(from their website) It also looks like they only accept international grads from Canada, and only permanent residents or citizens from the US, DACA not eligible.

Thank you for your quick response!

I saw that at first and I was like oh nice. But then I saw this part and I'm not sure how they define Canadian applicants as I know some view us as out-of-state:

International Applicants

RUCOM does not accept applications from international students or those who have earned an international bachelor’s degree.

Yeah, I just edited my reply. It is a little contradictory but I have noticed that of the US Med schools which accept international applicants, most of the ones who get in are from Canada.

Has anyone found anything on informational webinars they might host?

Their curriculum with the home health is actually really cool and right up my alley. Excited to apply here even though I have no connections to Nevada. Worth a shot at this point!
Can you elaborate, I'm curious about their curriculum. Outside of the brochure, I found nth on it

I'm just going off of the info on their website. What I was addressing was the GENESIS aspect of their curriculum. It isn't anything too in depth, but the concept is something that really interests me. Kind of meeting the households where they are at and treating them within the context of their social deteminants of health to create a more unified approach to their care (ie. connecting them with social services and such)

I got no connection to Nevada. Should I just f it and apply? 😈

Not to discourage people from applying, but dont think just because it is late in the cycle that the school wont stick to their admission criteria for mission fit or instate bias or higher stat applicants.

Whaaat this late in the cycle? Does anyone know if there will be a posting/access to the recording if we can't come tonight?

Hmm interesting response. I wonder how much they’ll consider out of state applicants vs just wanting our $$$ lol
Likely a mix of both, if you are chilling on the east coast or far away and do not have a true mission fit, I personally wouldnt apply, I made that mistake this cycle plenty of times and I wish I took my mom a nice dinner instead of blowing the cash. Everyone likes to think they're a mission fit or that they will be the exception to the rule, but spending cash to learn that lesson is not fun 🙁

Edit: Yeah their secondary is $100, watch out OOS they want to meet your friend Benjamin.

sunk cost fallacy! But yeah I feel that after applying to Alice Walton.

I wonder if we can get something more specific, like what percent OOS they are accepting
I would think based on research I have done for other schools that have IS bias, you can expect no more than 15 seats / 25% of the class (maybe even less) to be OOS.

True haha, I am also just writing this for people who come to this thread in future cycles as words of wisdom
